  1. That's great to hear that peeps are feelin' it! :kool:
  2. I'm gonna buy one on Tuesday that's for sure. :afro:
  3. Hey if the music is dope nuff props to whoever produces it, it'd be nice if FP produced some of these tracks himself too. :wiggle:
  4. :werd: You made some great points there fuq, I get the same impression that the music buisiness hasn't really changed much after all these years, I just got finished reading "The Death Of Rhythm and Blues" and it talks about how a lot of the most original artists really didn't get any airplay, Dave Clark, the grandfather of r&b never got the recognition he deserved, he was a smart buisinessman though and would have his own record label called Malco and was a pioneer in gospel, soul, and blues who never sold millions of albums, but Elvis Presley for instance sold millions of albums that nobody ever sold then but he was doing basically the same thing that r&b cats like James Brown and Chuck Berry were doing for many years(and people still praise Elvis more than them), he just made it popular, but he wasn't original at all, it's just like Eminem selling millions of albums now, hip-hop existed for 25 years already when he came in the game but some people who don't know the history think that he originated hip-hop. Another good point in that book that's still relevant, basically a lot of the songs sounded similar on the radio, except some of that music was more quality than now, everybody started to copy each other, while James Brown and Aretha Franklin couldn't get on major labels to sell units like the Disco artists were 30 years ago, it's sorta like how KRS-ONE, Public Enemy, and Keith Sweat don't get airplay now but still make quality music, some things never change, life repeats itself a lot, Marvin Gaye wasn't that popular until he was murdered just like 2Pac didn't get popular until he was murdered. :confused3:
  5. You can't front on Foxy Brown, I heard she's working on a new album that's gonna have KRS-ONE(he actually gave Foxy Brown props on one of his songs: "I'm hot and foxy like the "Ill Na Na"/whoever you think is hot I'm hotter) and Luther Vandross on it, now those legends don't collaborate with everyone, so that says that she does have skills and her 1996 album "Ill Na Na" is actually more of a classic in my opinion than "Reasonable Doubt" was and she outshined Jay-Z when they collaborated and that's when Jay-Z was dope.
  6. I love that song too, they don't make r&b like that anymore. Speaking of classic 90s r&b I got on Keith Sweat Feat. Ronald Isley "Come With Me", what a collab! :kool: and I love Run-Dmc's "Tougher Than Leather" album too, '88 was the greatest year in hip-hop, every album released that year was a classic it seemed, including "He's The DJ, I'm The Rapper" of course
  7. :werd: That's what I'm talkin' about, all this negativity gets promoted heavily, I wouldn't be surprised if Beanie does make the top 10 this week 'cause we all know how subrban kids love controversey in hip-hop(A.K.A. "G Unit Publicity Stunt 101"), as far as his music is concerned he's aight he was dope when he came out but now it's the sos and that new single of his is garbage he sounds like he's mumbling the words, emptv better do a special on FP this week and put "Switch" in heavy rotation or watchin' his performance on TRL might be one of the last times I turn on emptv 'cause everytime I turn on that channel lookin' for "Switch", I see a corny video and that's pissin' me off. :nono:
  8. Well let the fans decide how much the album sells, sky's the limit, but as long as people enjoy it, it's all good to me! :peace:
  9. That's a wonderful idea AJ, maybe Tim could relay the message for you. :thumb:
  10. You gotta be kiddin' me, FP bitin' Eminem's style? This writer must be smokin' too much crack, FP has originated his style and raps about his life, I haven't heard the album yet, but I wouldn't imagine FP tryin' to sound like somebody that he's not.
  11. Aight I was over my head when I posted those comments but that was my reaction when I saw Jazzy Jeff credited for one track, of course though Will could hold his own too as a solo artist but I think he's even more phenominal when he teams up with Jazzy Jeff, this is hip-hop's version of Jordan and Pippen here, even "Big Willie Style" wouldn't have had that much success if Jazzy Jeff didn't work on nearly half the albums tracks, so with that being said with Jazzy Jeff being on only one track, this album will not be one of the greatest hip-hop albums ever made like I was thinkin' it'd be(I personally don't think he'll ever top "He's The DJ, I'm The Rapper" anyway, that set the standard for the JJFP legacy, it's like Nas with "Illmatic"and KRS' 'Criminal Minded'), but it'll probably be the best album released in recent years, which is good enough for me 'cause I even liked "Born To Reign", Will could never appear wack to me, he's too damn consistant! :peace:
  12. Run-Dmc "It's Tricky", my favorite Run-Dmc song, their "Raising Hell" album is one of the greatest albums ever made in music period
  13. I was just jokin' around there, I'm not seriously going through my collection, I don't think it matters, the wording on all album credits are different though on each album, but if it says written by: the artist's name should come 1st following with the producer and/or co-writers if any, and then the names of any people that they sampled comes finally, sometimes though on album credits it doesn't say written by, so that means it go in any order if you see names in just parenthesis. I'll give a quick example if you don't understand what I just said, let's say I was a producer and I produced a song for Will Smith and we sampled a James Brown song, the order would go like this: Written By Will Smith, Gracia Miller Jr.(that's my real name), James Brown Or it could be like in any order like this(G.Miller Jr., J. Brown, W. Smith)
  14. Or PA could stand for Philly Ace. On the cover of KRS-ONE's "Sneak Attack" album, there's a sticker on it sayin' "Hip-Hop Advisory: Equisitte Lyrics". :ridepony:
  15. Well maybe it doesn't fit 'cause it's the only JJFP track on the album, maybe FP should just leave Jazzy Jeff off the album right? :eek4:
  16. Hold on let me go through my 200+ album collection real fast and I'll get back to you. :kekeke:
  17. Well Al Sharpton has been pissed about the state of hip-hop ever since that 50/Game publicity stunt: "Sharpton Complains to FCC About Rap Music WASHINGTON - The Rev. Al Sharpton, upset about violence in rap music, asked the Federal Communications Commission on Thursday to punish artists and radio stations connected with violent acts. Artists connected to such acts should be denied airplay on radio and television for 90 days, he told reporters after meeting with FCC Chairman Kevin Martin and two other commissioners. He also urged the agency to fine and review the licenses of radio stations "that encourage a pattern of this, including allowing employees to do on-the-air inciting of violence." "The outrage of the pattern of violence that has occurred at radio stations requires some action," Sharpton said. "What has been absent is some kind of government move to stop these actions happening on federally regulated radio stations." A spokesman for Martin declined to comment. Andrew Jay Schwartzman, president of the Media Access Project, a public interest law firm, said Sharpton's suggestions could trample on free speech protections and may not fall under the regulatory jurisdiction of the FCC. "They pose tremendous First Amendment problems," he said. "It's very hard to come up with a standard that works. The bottom line is this is not something the FCC was created or equipped to handle." Sharpton has been especially vocal since a bitter feud broke out between artists 50 Cent and The Game last month. A member of The Game's crew was wounded during a shooting outside a New York hip-hop radio station while 50 Cent was on air criticizing The Game. Grammy-winning hip-hop star Lil' Kim could face years in prison when she is sentenced in June after being convicted last week for lying about a shootout outside the same New York radio station. Sharpton also met with Democratic FCC members Michael Copps and Jonathan Adelstein. "We welcomed the opportunity to discuss media violence," Copps said. "The issue of violence in the media was one the commission ought to take more seriously."
  18. I think Will already has the status of legendary, don't you? :werd: Of course I do and I always will, he's one of my inspirations, but I'm just a lil' dissappointed after reading that there's only gonna be one track that Jazzy Jeff produced on this album 'cause I thought that the delay of the album meant that they were gonna do more tracks on it, but I guess not, I'm just talkin' a lil' bit over my head right now 'cause I'm surprised, oh well quality's better than quanity and at least they're still performing together.
  19. That's unfortunate, my condolences. :tear:
  20. Well I told a couple of peeps around my way who like ol' school hip-hop about "Lost and Found" and there being some JJFP tracks on it, but they're gonna be dissapointed when they find out it's only one track now like I am. I don't even think I'm as excited as I was about the album now that there's only one JJFP track but I'm surely more excited about it than anything else comin' out, FP will never be placed on a legendary level in hip-hop though if he doesn't go back to do more tracks with Jazzy Jeff 'cause their chemistry is flawless than what anyone else in hip-hop's doing.
  21. "Here He Comes" should've been called "Here They Come" referring to both JJFP, did Will at least even mention Jazzy Jeff in the song at all? This sucks, the kids still won't even know who Jazzy Jeff is now! :mad8: Well there better be a JJFP tour still 'cause if he released this album and went straight back to movies, I would lose some respect for him 'cause that ain't keepin' it real to the JJFP fans.
  22. Well Beanie Siegal's in jail, so he might get more sales since controversey sells records, he's also from Philly too, and there's quite a buzz for his album too, so it's gonna be a battle of Philly mcs next week, but of course the king of Philly, Will Smith is gonna come out on top! :ali:
  23. There's only one JJFP track? That's dissapointing, I was hoping there'd be at least 5 JJFP tracks, I can't understand how all those songs they worked on to make the album didn't make the cut, I would rather have the Ludacris song miss the cut, I hope that the bounus tracks are JJFP tracks. :toetap: I don't wanna see Will do another movie now until a JJFP album comes out. :poke:
  24. How could the intro be weak? I thought it was a JJFP track, anything that JJFP does is classic, I loved hearing that rhyme on Tim Westwood's show and I'm sure I'll love it even more with a Jazzy Jeff beat backing the rhyme up 'cause I'm sure he could come up with a better beat than "How We Do", I can't wait until I hear it.
