  1. I think LL really has picked it up on "The Definition" though, I'll admit that "10" was kinda a soft hip-hop album, sorta like "Born To Reign" was, it'd be somethin' to chill wit ur girl or man with, it seemed odd for those 2 to release those kinda albums after aggressive albums like "The G.O.A.T." and "Willenium", it didn't really have that aggressive edge that LL has had in the past, but he sounds pretty confident on "The Definition", I think it's his best album he's released in recent years 'cause there's not too much cameos on it, his rhyme skills shine there, buy the album and you'll see for yourself, those who diss LL now simply slept on "The Definition", it didn't have the type of promotion that it deserved, what's really left for him to prove though lyrically, he's done it all as an mc it seems, he's just doin' it for the love now, but he's the only mc to stay on Def Jam for 20 years, not even Public Enemy or Slick Rick could say that but they were close, while FP's on his 3rd record label, and still has somethin' to prove 'cause if LL dropped a freestyle now it wouldn't shock everybody like they are when FP's freestylin' 'cause LL's ripped Kool Moe Dee and Cannibus in freestylin' before, was featured in many mix tapes freestylin' too, and is usually ranked in the top 10 all time mcs all the time but FP rarely gets ranked that high but should be, hopefully when FP rips Eminem(who shouldn't be ranked at all on these lists), he'll get a higher ranking on the all-time mc list. I personally wouldn't mind if FP decided to take a couple years off of acting and LL got more shine as an actor that he deserves while FP gets the props as an mc, and gradually they both collaborate 'cause they're my 2 of my favorites, it's a coin toss to me, both of their careers are legendary, a lot of the young mcs comin' out wish they could have half the success that these guys have had.
  2. I think LL said a few times that "14 Shots To The Dome" was his worst album, he said that he wasn't focused when he made it. It's one of the few LL albums that I never heard, I got most of them, "Mama Said Knock You Out" is my favorite one, that hasnice balance like Code Red, although I like the other ones a lot too. Run- Dmc, LL Cool J, and JJFP were the most instrumental in helping hip-hop cross over, nuff props to all of them. :peace:
  3. With all this hype about the album, I hope they push the release date up a lil' bit, I really wanna hear this album now! :dancingcool:
  4. Hey I'm gonna watch it and let y'all know when it makes it, I usually change the channel in between the wack videos though and then come back 3 minutes later. :kekeke:
  5. It didn't make it tonight, I'm gonna keep on voting though, I have a good feeling it'll make it this week. :kool:
  6. Didn't that song come out 5 months ago? I'm surprised that song's still ranked that high, it's aight, but it ain't that great, that tells you how bad music is these days.
  7. This 3rd verse in 'I'm Lookin' For The One'(To Be With Me) is legendary: "Nine trey everybody want to be a gangsta Pup pup pup pup but no more thanks to me You got something you can flip on the other tip As you get lost in the smooth rhymes I rip Years and years my peers misunderstood, that I make cuts from my guts to make you feel good And if you get it this is for you so, You can feel the same way too Put your hands in the air come on now Put your hands in the air come on yeah Feel the vibe that the jazz and the prince ride The upperground sound that pound and knock you outta ya hide You feeling alright you feeling alright Yeah You feeling alright you feeling alright Yeah Well next time bring a friend with you so you can feel the same way too" I have so many favorites it's too hard to say just one! :kool:
  8. Those who hate on JJFP haven't heard much of their material to form much of a relevant opinion, but those that only like gangsta rap might not feel JJFP, just like not all JJFP fans like gangsta rap, that's to be expected, everyone has their own tastes. :blabla:
  9. Have you heard any of Will's albums? Come on now, he's one of the most versatile mcs ever, when he releases a single, it ain't no gimmick 'cause there's other songs on his albums that back up that emotion. It's not like "Just The Two Of Us" was the only serious song he ever made, there's many serious songs he made, u can't say the same about Jadakiss, "Why" is the only serious song, but I find that kinda hypocritical that he disses Halle Berry in the song for setting a bad example by having sex in a movie, when he's making songs about killing people, it's the same difference.
  10. I'd say Will's a better actor than LL 'cause he's done bigger films than LL has, while LL has done a lot of films in his career, but has been sorta the co-star and not the one with the major role and #1 films, I heard that he's working on a film with Queen Latifah so that could change things, that could be big. As an mc though I think LL is more respected than FP 'cause he's been known to be more versatile and his acting career hasn't overshadowed his mc status unlike FP, but I think that'll change once FP puts out "Lost & Found" and takes some time off acting to tour, overall I'd say it's too close to call 'cause they're both on top having mainstream success after comin' out 2 decades ago, they're the only ones besides Queen Latifah to do that, I hope that she comes with a hip-hop album again soon.
  11. There's gonna be some upsets for sure, not too many #1 seeds have made the final four over the past few years, it's gonna be an exciting few weeks.
  12. This verse on "My Buddy" is another Fresh Prince quotable with battle lines: "We've won so many battles, people think it's a trick That when the crowd gets to judge it's US that they'll pick They see Ready's face and then they hear my voice To choose us as the winners is the natural choice Because battle after battle we remain on top Cause it's not the way we look, it's the way that we rock So if you thought you wanted to battle, bust this rhyme Just keep it and I'm sure that I can change your mind There was ten wack dudes trying to play high post One crew got bold and they began to boast But said, Y'all shut up and get back in line But they refused (what happened now) So now there's nine Nine wack crews tryin to rock like this They were bitin my rhymes and just couldn't resist I said please stop bitin, please don't imitate But they kept on bitin, so there's now there's eight Eight wack crews poppin big time trash Telling us that in a battle we can't last The battle started at 10:30 and by quarter of eleven was no longer eight crews (how many was their) There was seven Seven wack crews in a football huddle Trying to figure out their next rebuttal They came out strong you'd think their The Ultimate but we just dissed em and dismissed, so now there's six Six wack groups, tryin to be tough Who the hell told em they could rock the mic like us We got straight down the business didn't pop no jive We just blew em out, so now there's five Five wack crews lined up in the hallway All perpetrating like they're read to play My secretary walked out, she asked for one more They got scared, and left, so now there's four Four wack crews outside playing around I said I'll take you wall on, now how does that sound? Not one had heart enough to pick up that mic I said, okay I'll let you go, psych That's the moral, of this story Never try to take me and Ready Rock's glory Cause if you do your future looks muddy Cause you just can't beat me and my buddy" :ali:
  13. A single with Mary J. Blidge is gonna be legendary! :peace:
  14. I think it's perfect timing with this "Mr. Nice Guy" track comin' out soon on the album, considering that everyone's comin' after 50 Cent, this is a perfect time to knock these suckers out, :ali: that'd be a guaranteed hit if released 'cause I never heard so much buzz over a song that hasn't even been heard yet, it's about time that somebody mocked Eminem in a music video considering all the mocking he's been doing, I can see the Fresh Prince clowning him hard. :poke:
  15. You could always clean your CDs too when they start gettin' scratched before they get out of hand, they sell CD cleaning kits in music stores.
  16. I think this verse on Uuhhh has so many great punchlines in it :ali: : Been to the mountain top down to the valley "Illadelph to Cali Y'all feel me like harry felt Sally Clothes exotic Flows erotic No jewels That's for them fools who ain't got it Rapped to my own sitcom Now I just sit calm Watching y'all respond to my july 4 bomb (ooh) Yeah I'm a nice kid But heres some advice kid Don't get me hyped I set it off like my wife did Plan down pat like Sajak Wheel of fortune away Price ain't right I don't play Find yourself in jeopardy The first clue What is Will Smith? Hot to def not you I'm like a Porsche you a Pinto You like a tiny figurine, I'm monumental You like a small get together on your neighbours back porch You know just a couple of y'all, I'm a million man march Attack of the man in black Like Jordan playing on a train Yo my game on track Mad ice For my wife No care for what it costed Had to ease up though Her wrists got frost bit My style flavour delivery My Addiction Getting medieval like du in pulp fiction You want some? Bring it Come one, come all come any Watch me take there hard a way like Penny I can take twelve rappers and put em in line Then twelve emcees that think they can rhyme Then twelve more brothers that still ain't signed Then, don't do nuthin, just watch em decline Gangsta hardcore menace to society Rap's all the same my pen spits variety Eclecticism is a virtue It may not be a word but it's definitely a virtue Rappers approaching me all across America Believe me, "you don't wanna battle" like Erica I was in the game before publishing was an issue Your platinum now, but next year I'm gonna miss you Mad rappers like bad actors should have no parts Wanna be mad check the charts Any of em Oh don't see my name You don't see my spot Heres a hint Look closer to the top"
  17. :werd: It's Mell-O D and The Ramos, I saw this video on "Rap City" a few times over the past couple weeks, it has a refreshing vibe to it, sorta like a De La Soul feel to it, I was thinking about making a post here to see if anyone else saw it, it'd be nice if somethin' like this would go into heavy rotation and knock tasteless videos like "Candy Shop" out of rotation. btw, I'm listening to DJ Clue Feat. Nas "Live From The Bridge"(DJ Clue-Professional Part 2)
  18. :werd: That's the difference between FP and the competition, "Switch" is not your typical hip-hop party track, the video stands out too above the average ones in heavy rotation on emptyv, whatever FP chooses to release will be a hit, the serious songs and the club tracks that he makes all have emotion to them that you could feel, I'd say having Jazzy Jeff in a video has to be a must though, no matter what type of vibe it is, I know we'd all like to see another JJFP hit single.
  19. I'm not that much of a movie expert but I'd say that Eddie Murphy has been a better actor than Tom Cruise over the last 20 years, you could compare their movies and it's no contest, they should've at least ranked Eddie Murphy somewhere in this list and ranked Tom Cruise down. It's a surprise that they did mention Will Smith among the all-time actors that's quite an honor but I think there were a lot of pioneer actors from the past that probably deserved the honor more considering this is the all-time list, there's no argument though that he's ranked among the all-time great mcs conisdering that hip-hop is not that old compared to filming, but you could say that he's possibly the best actor in the last decade.
  20. Here's my all time favorites in no random order: BDP feat. Doug E. Fresh, MC Lyte, Heavy D, Public Enemy, and others "Self Destruction", Such a powerful song and video, nice to see all these legends in one video Public Enemy "Fight The Power", another powerful song and video, it was for Spike Lee's classic "Do The Right Thing" BDP "My Philosophy", the 1st black and white video in hip-hop history, it was a nice tribute to the great Scott La Rock 2Pac and Dr. Dre "California Love", this video is like a movie, the hip-hop's version of "Thriller", this shows the artistic genious of 2Pac Rakim "When I Be On Da Mic", a nice throwback video in the late '90s Eric B. and Rakim "Microphone Fiend", it shows a young kid lovin' to go on the mic, this is what hip-hop is all about Slick Rick "Children's Story", one of the funniest videos ever Dr. Dre and Snoop Doggy Dogg "Ain't Nothin' But A 'G' Thing", this represents the west coast vibe Naughty By Nature "Hip-Hop Horray", Naughty By Nature tearin' it up, 'Jersey's hip-hop at it's finest LL Cool J and Boyz II Men "Hey Lover", such a smooth mid-90s vibe just like the song and last but not least DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince "Parents Just Don't Understand", this hilarious video inspired the creation of "The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air"
  21. Yeah "Switch" is just an appetiser for what's comin' next, FP has the artistic freedom that he needed that's what makes this so exciting! :kool: It's gonna be a fun summer for sure. :thumb:
  22. I don't one or two curses on an album would get a PA sticker these days, 'cause even some of r&b albums have a few curses in them without PA stickers, but Public Enemy's "It Take A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back" has a PA sticker but actually doesn't have many curses and would be considered clean now, but I think that was considered extreme at the time of its release 'cause most albums in hip-hop back then didn't have much cursing, what a long way things have come. But anyway FP probably just called Eminem a bitch or somethin' like that. :cwm: I don't even think MTV edits the word bitch anymore.
  23. You gotta remember how fickle this game is, as much as I may want a serious song myself; to keep him in the public eye, a serious song will NOT cut it. You have to keep their attention grabbed, and we all know that the minute a serious song (Unless your name is Eminem) is released, they find something else to listen to.
