Well I decided to write another song regarding the state of hip-hop and the culture in it, but this time I suggest a couple solutions to make it better, check it out y'all, feedback appreciated! Verse One:You listen to the tracks of hypocrites If you only happen to have your radio tuned in Those rhymes you hear there are all confusion Only a bunch of foolish children Would say that there's skills exhibited Without a display of lil' expression Not enough to claim the will of aggression 'Cause we see these artists boxed in For what the record companies want from them Instead of doin' what's needed for the spirit To make into more a complete vision You can't only do it for the lust of money and b*****s There has to be something done to influence the older heads That we can progress in this movement As well as getting the youngeons into it We need to add more balance to the playlists So the music can appeal to all ages The older folks have swayed away From it 'cause immature games ain't ok with them But they don't even participate in supporting the great artists Without having a care In worry over promoting, these artists just keep bringing the flare Into the performances, but to get airplay is rare We gotta remember that if it wasn't for their impact, the buisiness wouldn't last the wear and tear And it seems when they try to share Their knowledge peeps have been ignoring But instead of making a change, they keep supporting Those lame mcs, like they actually expect them to progress Staying in the same perspective Sounding lame and reptetive These consumers have sold out so they ignore the ones that remain competitive Now I'm not sayin' these pop mcs don't have any talent To get in the business they put their dues in Once they make it, they're only bickering Talkin' about things that're irrelevant Losing the sound form of intelligence Remember you won't make sense If you only flow to make checks That won't make you a legend You won't have a soul if you sell it No control or truth you'll get What u do to diss others will burn you in the end Sure now you might sell a lot of records With a weak shot attempt of an effort But one day you'll get ignored Since these kids will gradually mature When you're continually getting worse They'll begin to thirst for something more pure Which means that your large fan base will fall short And legends will eventually win the war By getting the credit deserved for all the years of effort Hook: I wonder how you could choose to sell out I'm not trying to bring you hell now I don't wanna keep you down But things that come around go around when you choose the wrong route I wish you'd have a change of heart to make better songs now 'Cause it hurts to see God's given talent go drown Verse Two: You don't realise how blessed you are But that success instead has made u sound more hard Headed, instead of being humble you run around immature And people say that you're an ignorant star Who forgot the routes that you worked hard for Like Nas said a lot of people would say “These Are Our Heroes” And 15 years before that Public Enemy was saying “She Watches Channel Zero” Which is now TRL,when these lil' girls watch too much of it they'll grow to be hoes Zero's the percentage of knowledge you'll gain From all the gossipin' which is all lame These days we see the same picture You'll release a song praising the scripture But then you turn to complain about not winning awards I have to ask what are you doing this music for? Personally I'm like Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince “Twinkle Twinkle, I'm not a star” When I started rhyming though, my mind wasn't mature As I am now, once again I realised I saw the light from the passing of my grandmother Before that moment I just wanted to be large But since my grandmother's death I got closer to the love we see from God And then I saw DMX in a video paying homage to his grandmother Which reached so deep in my heart I was able to realise how music is able to influence you no matter who you are That's online towards to the moment hip-hop was origined Now we're online worldwide talking about the movement But it seems more argue over who spits the dopest rhymes and sold the most records And who's got the most street cred I always argue back though that the positive influence makes you an mc legend The rank will always change and we all have different opinions So the most important thing is to recapture the essence The main question I ask is How are we gonna be able to attract positveness if we're arguing over pettyness? The celebrites that go to jail get the most recognition And how are we gonna have unity Between all races if there's still division in the black community? If the slaves from 200 years ago came back, they'd say that we still have slavery! In our minds, treating black queens like hoes ain't ok for society Getting back to the essence while hip-hop pioneers are still wit us is a main mission for me [Repeat Hook 'Til End]

LL doesn't have to sell a lot of albums anymore, he has control of his album catalog now so he gets more profit than basically any mainstream mc does, he's financially secured, he's rapping for the love more than anything now, his legacy is there already, but he could still rhyme at a high level so he's still "Doin' It", those who diss him are teeny boppers who don't know about legendary hip-hop, they diss KRS, JJFP, and Public Enemy and call their songs "nerd rap", well they are too ignorant to understand, knowledge is power! :ali:

:werd: To AJ there, I would say that 50 Cent and The Game ain't true gangsta rappers, the true gangsta rap is dead, I love ol' school gangsta rap, they had a powerful message in their songs, when BDP and Public Enemy came out they were called gangsta rappers too, 2Pac, Ice-T, NWA, Warren G, and Snoop Dogg are my favorite gangsta rappers. As far as mainstream mcs are concerned, the only ones that I like a lot are FP, LL Cool J, Nas, and my opinion on Ludacris is getting better now 'cause I see that he's putting work in. Snoop Dogg still is the king of gangsta rap, 50 Cent and The Game can't touch him. I used to love Dr. Dre but once he dropped Rakim and produces only The Game, GUnit, and D12, my respect for him has gone down quite a bit, I still think that he's a legend in hip-hop though and I appreciate the work he put in the game.
-
:werd: I think Common helped co-write "The Rain", that'd been even more incredible if Common spit a verse on there, even songs on his albums are co-written, FP ain't the only one doing that, 2Pac's songs were co-written, Rakim's songs are co-written, Talib Kweli's rhymes are co-written, basically every dope mc in hip-hop history has had cats co-write with them, if peeps diss FP for that, they might as well diss every mc in the game 'cause everybody does it or did it before. Out of curiousity does FP co-write for anybody? And on "Switch" being co-written, Kel Spencer probably just helped FP with the hook, a lot of ol' school mcs have problems writing hooks 'cause back in the golden age of hip-hop, songs didn't have hooks, I remember hearing Kool G Rap say that on a Hot 97 Interview a couple years ago, he said that the difference between hip-hop in the '80s and hip-hop now is that there's hooks now, he said that he needs help in writing hooks now 'cause he never did that when he started.
-
I didn't even watch that 'cause his interviews are as boring, repetitve, and predictable as the songs on his albums, I don't think many hip-hop fans respect him anymore, he used to b e a hard working/aggressive mc, he ain't that anymore, and he ain't a man if he can't raise his son! :ditto:

Snoop Dogg Feat. Pharrell "Beautiful"

Well if Will likes 50 Cent and The Game, he shouldn't ever diss gangsta rap then. :ditto:
-
I already knew that P.Diddy doesn't write his own rhymes but his flow's awful too, even KRS-ONE, Nas, and LL have cats write the songs with them, look at the credits for some of their songs too, they have more than one name on their songs, so what's the big deal about it then? :dunno: Of course Will has to write his songs though, his names on the credits, back in the day when JJFP started, there was no such thing as ghostwriters, maybe that's why rhymes were less complex back then, just something to think about. :cya:

I'm happy bout that 'cause the Bulls are only one game behind the Cavaliers now for 2nd place in the Central Division! btw, I'm watchin' "Training Day" on USA.
-
It sounds like Fubu's cheatin' LL there, I don't think he'd sue Fubu just 'cause "The Definition" didn't go platinum like they worded it, I don't think record sales ever phased LL, he hasn't really complained about an album not sellin'. "Fatty Girl" was a good song at the time, but it ain't one of my favorite LL songs, so FP isn't the only legend that Ludacris collaborated with.

Wait a minute now let me jump in the round I see how there ain't nobody "Humpin' Around" Like that song from Bobby Brown See though this is "my perrogative" I already spot to hit Y'all easily got knocked a bit Without me even throwing a shot attempt I already have more points This is like Jordan comin' back to destroy All the kids in the league I can easily toy They're 30 but they rhyme like they didn't even reach puberty I'm turnin' 20 and I'm bringin' this game back where it needs to be This is more than just destroying the both of y'all See how this flow's just raw This is just spring training but I'm ready to brawl Like Rickey I'm gonna run past them all See like Heavy D, Big Pun, and 8 Ball I'm "On Point" And if this was b-ball I'd be like Ben Gordon is at the point When you hear me like The Poor Righteous Teachers sayin' "Rock This Funky Joint" I got 5 years of hits already for the crowd to enjoy Day in and day out, I've been eating, sleepin', and mc'in I got a lot of flame now, 'cause my heart burns with versatility Unlike Jay-Z I'm gonna "Change The Game" now 'cause I back the words I speak It's time to be original for a change, no use to repeat When I retire 50 years from now, I'll be known as the lyrical king of 'Jersey And y'all be reminicising the priviledge it was to kick it with me Even if u diss me, you won't limit the goals that I'm soon to reach

It must be a new song, I never heard it either, maybe a song that's gonna be on "The Lost Tapes 2", maybe Westwood got an advanced copy of it or somethin'. :dunno:

I was watching the Cavaliers and Nets game, the Nets had a 20 point lead in the 3rd quarter the Cavaliers made it close in the end, but the Nets won the game 104-98, now I'm watching UCLA vs. Notre Dame, March Madness is comin' soon. :switch:

...Their goal was to bring the "Showtime" like Magic and Kareem Mastering rhymes and reaching their "Shadow Dreams" Their craft design was to bring the plan united So they began to work on their demo and were excited 'Cause this was their chance to bring hip-hop back where it has to be They were inspired to rock from hearing the Fresh Prince's rap delivery When they delivered the demo to the Overbrook office the staff was pleased Since they worked together and made jams that brought the refreshing scene At that moment Cooley and Chris were asked to step in the booth to spit and they couldn't believe...

you kidding me? you dont think will can take on 50 cent and game? Well he's only 13 man, he'll come around, I used to think Jay-Z was dope when I was 15, but I don't think that way anymore. :ditto: But I've felt FP was dope since I saw "The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air" when I was 10 and now that I've listened to most of his albums I still do and I always will 'cause he keeps it true to who he is.

Nas feat. Alicia Keys "Warrior's Song", this is my favorite song on "God's Son", it has a "Potnas" feel to it

50 Cent is hypocrital for dissin' Ja Rule 'cause he does the same thing now, "Candy Shop" reminds me of a Ja Rule video, he's biting Ja Rule, so that in my opinion makes him soft 'cause he ain't himself at all anymore. It seems that a lot of the true mcs are gettin' dissed by these trend rappers, why is 50 Cent turning to diss Nas now? I don't get it, Nelly disses KRS-ONE, Eminem disses FP, and now 50 Cent's dissin' Nas? :nhawong: I actually hope Nas ignores 50 'cause 50 is trash and Nas shouldn't waste his time to answer back, he should keep on doing meaninful songs like "Just A Moment" and not worry about him 'cause hip-hop heads ain't respecting 50 anymore. Nas responded to Jay-Z and beat him but Jay-Z' still selling millions, KRS ripped Nelly but Nelly's still multiplatinum, all those stupid teeny boppers say about KRS is that he's an old man who sounds too preachy, they don't have no morals in them that's why, I think the teeny boppers won't understand what hip-hop 'till they get older so they'll still buy Eminem's albums even when FP responds back to rip him 'cause they won't even comprehend FP's intelligentness, I think some of the ol' school fans gotta come out and support the true mcs that're still out.

I don't know man when I was listening that night, I skipped over the 50 Cent songs, I let the Nas song play through though. :dj:

Jeff's Album should be about finished
bigted replied to KevTastic's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
So any details about this album? I know everybody's hyped over FP's album, but is anybody excited about the new Jazzy Jeff album? I know I'm excited about it, any details on it yet? -
Dope pics, thanks Tim! Too Damn Hype's still kickin' it in the '05.

Ludacris may not be one of my favorites mcs out now, I listen to a lot of underground/ol' school hip-hop artists, so I don't really have too much interest in him, but I wouldn't diss him 'cause you could see from his videos that he's been getting more creative lately, I give him some credit for that, hey I wasn't dissin' Diamond D, Teddy Riley, or any of the legendary producers, I respect them a lot for what they do, but as long as the song's great it doesn't matter who's on it, that's all I was saying, if Eminem learned how to produce better and gets his s*** together by learning how to respect people, I wouldn't mind if he collaborted with FP either, there ain't no need to have so much beef, learn to be more open-minded. :ditto:

The "I Bet Lost and Found will Sell..."-Thread
bigted replied to J-2-K's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
Going gold in the US is considered a major accomplishment for an ol' school mc, only LL Cool J has done it lately, Public Enemy, KRS-ONE, De La Soul, MC Lyte, Run-Dmc, and other legends(I think even Afrika Bambaataa has a new album out right now) made albums over the last 5 years and couldn't even sell 100,000 in the US, maybe worldwide they might've, back in the day they used to go at least platinum here, the fans turned their backs on them! :sad6: It'd be nice if FP put a whole bunch of ol' school hip-hop artists on the album(kwame and Jazzy Jeff are the only ones on this album I think), but I think less people would buy, I think peeps over 40 stopped buying albums, they go to FP's movies but they forgot that he still rhymes too, it's important for him to take this time off of acting, cats like Snoop and Luda have younger audiences(although Snoop is about the same age as FP is) and could help the album sell more, there's buzz over them being on the album already with them being on it, these tracks are dope as hell, so it ain't no gimmick, I'm now predicated that the album's gonna sell 1.5 million in the US, 6 million worldwide, just from even more hype. Records sales ain't everything though as I said, but this could help ol' school mcs become accepted again, so I'm hoping this album sells a lot. Even though there ain't too many ol' school legends on the album, I think some of them should go on the world tour with JJFP 'cause ol' school hip-hop is appreciated more worldwide than it is here in the US. -
Public Enemy "Put It Up" :ali:
