hip hop history thought,do you think like me?
bigted replied to a topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
I think 2Pac only sold 2 million albums before he 1st got shot, that says it all right there. :ditto: And Biggie only sold 2 million wit "Ready To Die" but when "Life After Was Released" a lil' while after he was murdered, it sold 10 million. I think Biggie an aight mc, not legendary though like most think, a lot of his stuff's more bearable to listen to than most pop mcs out now, I thought "Juicy" was such a great song, he gave props to a lot of ol' school hip-hop legends on that track. -
:werd: I don't think FP wants this beef to overshadow everything else he's doing and is being humble there, Eminem does has mad skills, he just hasn't express them in recent years and he needs to learn to be less egotistical, u gotta have mad skills just to get a record deal, but a lot of them like Em sell out their image when they make pointless songs and don't put those skills to good use, FP just wants to drop some knowledge on Em and them haters dissin', if Em responds back that woulod only express how immature he is and he'll never progress as an artist actin' like that.

The truth is many people don't know what's here until it's gone, if 2Pac was still living he wouldn't have as much recognition as he does in his death, and that's a damn shame, but that's reality, when all the hip-hop pioneers pass on, then they'll get their recognition too, it's a messed up world for sure. :ditto: I wish that both 2Pac and Biggie were still alive and squashed the beef to move hip-hop forward, I wouldn't wish death on any rappers I don't like, that was a black eye on hip-hop's image for sure and I don't think we've recovered from that. -
So is there any word of JJFP going on it yet and are the dates for the tour released yet? :dunno:

Watch ur mouth man, that's disrespectful, they're dead, even though I didn't like Biggie, I wouldn't say that about him. -
Rakim "Guess Who's Back", I got this "The 18th Letter" CD yesterday, I wish I got this sooner, this album's legendary.

1. what albums will you listen to between now and lost and found? Only legendary hip-hop from JJFP, LL, KRS-ONE, Rakim, Public Enemy, and others as usual. 2. how high are your expectations for L&F?Very high as well, a hip-hop classic. 3. how long have you been waiting for this album(like really waiting) 2 years, hip-hop sucks without JJFP 4. what do you think the new JJFP tracks will sound like?Legendary 5. how many tracks do you want on the new album?10-20(with Jazzy Jeff on half the album at least, that's the only way I'd want it to be 20 tracks, if Jazzy Jeff's on 10 songs, if he's on less than 5 songs, having a 10-track album is a better idea) 6. and lastly how old were you when willennium was released?14

:werd: He has the right to demand them to play his records I don't see that as begging, this station plays Eminem and Jay-Z in heavy rotation, but if it wasn't for JJFP's impact there wouldn't be Hot 97, he's earned the right to demand airplay, KRS-ONE, Public Enemy, and Rakim could do the same thing to Hot 97 if they wanted to, they're legends and they earned the right to fight back! :ali:

How old arer you man? Hip-hop didn't start with the 2Pac/Biggie feud, and Biggie ain't a hip-hop legend, he only released 2 albums and rapped more about materialism and sex than anything(Jay-Z' the same way now), 2Pac released 10 albums, so 2Pac's the legend who rapped more about the struggles of life than anything else. btw anything not relevent to JJFP should be in 'Caught In The Middle' forum, peace! -
:werd: This verse right here represents the true lack of Eminem's skills: "(Okay) Don't make me wake this baby She don't need to see what I'm about to do Quit crying b****, why do you always make me shout at you? How could you? Just leave me and love him out the blue Oh, what's a matter Kim? Am I too loud for you? Too bad b****, your gonna finally hear me out this time At first, I'm like all right You wanna throw me out? That's fine! But not for him to take my place, are you out you're mind? This couch, this TV, this whole house is mine! How could you let him sleep in our bed? Look at Kim Look at your husband now! (No!) I said look at him! He ain't so hot now is he? Little punk! (Why are you doing this?) Shut the f*** up! (You're drunk! You're never going to get away at this!) You think I give a f***! Come on we're going for a ride b**** (No!) Sit up front (Well I can't just leave Haley alone, what if she wakes up?) We'll be right back Well I will you'll be in the trunk" That barely rhymes too if you look at it.

That's your opinion, I don't see nothing wrong wit cursing in lyrics on occasion to make a point but I don't let it overshadow my skills, AJ had a good point there, some rappers just finish each line in their songs saying f*** or s***, that's showing no skills doing that, there's no need to curse 100 times in a song, that's when it's too out of hand and displays no skills, with me cursing 5 times in one of my songs is the maximum, there ain't a need to curse that much. :ditto:
-
What's up, I'd rate your song 2.75/5, there's room for improvement in your rhyme scheme, keep practicing and you'll get better.

FP's done it again y'all! We'll be saying the same thing soon next month when "Lost & Found" goes #1 on the charts, the haters can't stop him! :ali: The ultimate entertainer.
-
"Switch" is gonna be a hit, there's always haters there, not everybody's gonna like everything FP does, but if enough do then it'll be a hit, and btw, Snoop and Ludacris get enough airplay already, I don't want the next singles to be with them, leave them on the album, I wanna see some JJFP singles. :ditto:
-
Yeah I heard that phrase, "the buck don't stop here", I never heard "the puck don't stop here" before, that doesn't really make sense, unless you're talking about hockey. :lolsign:

FP seems like a very cool person to talk to, he never lets his accomplishments get to his head, as it showed here in this interview, one of my favorite lines in this interview was: "I ain't doing this for the money", FP's keepin' it real!

...Hyped off the emotion he writes So Cooley took that advice And picked up the mic At the block party the next day Then rocked the crowd in a funky fresh way B-Boys and girls felt the heat he blazed So suddenly his confidence was back Once he was able to relax And capable to blast Delivering the flameful raps So he quickly became a crowd favorite at the jam Which attracted a whole bunch of competition Including this cat named Chris who came to battle him.../

Hey scyhigh you forgot to mention Kirk Hinrich of the Bulls, he's gonna be one of the best PG's in the NBA over the next coming years and lead the Bulls back to glory again!

I wasn't dissin' FP by sayin' that he cursed in movies, don't get mad at me like I'm a hater, I'm just sayin' it how it is, I'm sure he curses in real life once in a while, he's human like everyone else and btw he did curse in "I'm Lookin' For The One"(To Be Wit Me) 'cause he said:"You know the puck don't stop here/ F***, the puck started here" http://www.ohhla.com/anonymous/frprince/co...looking.jfr.txt Who knows maybe it was a typo there, but what difference does it make anyway, I don't think FP is great 'cause he doesn't curse in his songs, I think he's great 'cause of his humor and personality as an mc, and even though 2Pac cursed a lot I consider him the greatest mc of all time, to me it doesn't mean s*** if you curse in your songs or not, as long as you make quality music, and music is still entertainment too, not everything you say in music has to be true, but some movies are based on real life too, it ain't all fiction.
-
didn't he say f*** on "I'm Lookin' For The One"(To Be Wit Me), and he said b**** on "You Saw My Blinker" and didn't he curse a lot in Bad Boys II, what difference does it make anyway? :dunno: I could care less if he curses or not, as long as he drops dope hip-hop. FP ain't ever gonna go gangsta though, that ain't his style.

I think 3cookies said that she's friends with Kevin Willis. I think that there are probably the same amount of superstars now as there was 10-15 years ago, but it's hard to find many role players now that do the dirty work to help the team win that don't go on the stat sheet like Kevin Willis has done in his entire career, like what Charles Oakley and Horace Grant did in their careers, more players today are worried over their contracts and their stats so they don't play team basketball, and I think those days of a point guard passing the ball more than he shoots are probably over, I don't think we'll see young point guards do what players like John Stockton and Mark Jackson did to get teammates involved.

Guy "Love Online", btw I try to listen to JJFP everyday too, I was listening to "Code Red" earlier today
