  1. The only west coast mc on the mainstream that I really like is Snoop Dogg 'cause he doesn't do every song about killing people, he has fun too with his music and from most of the feedback here about this The Game album it sounds like that this album's most of that fake gangsta s***, now don't me wrong I like some gangsta hip-hop, but most of what I like from that is the late '80s NWA,Ice-T and early '90s Dr. Dre/2Pac/Snoop Dogg 'cause they made songs with a lot of meaning to it but I don't see that anymore, now every mc says they're a gangsta and from the streets but that doesn't mean that they are. :ditto: I also agree with Hero about how there's mcs like Souls of Mischief and Supastition on the underground that would tear most of these mainstreams rappers apart 'cause they make songs with heart and meaning! :werd:
  2. I ain't hating on 50 but I'm just speaking how I feel, I haven't listened to "Get Rich Or Die Trying" in over a year, that album is way overrated, I like some of his underground stuff but I wouldn't consider it legendary, there's no day in my life I'd ever consider him a better lyricist than KRS-ONE, I don't give a damn how many albums 50 puts out in his life there's no way that he could make as many songs with a soulful meaning that KRS has, and btw every mc in the game forever should give props to James Brown 'cause without him there wouldn't be hip-hop, respect the ol' school damn it!
  3. :werd: I thought we wanted an ol' school type album, "All About The Funk" ain't the most creative title but it explains what JJFP is all about, bringin' funky feel good hip-hop on the scene, that's why "He's The DJ, I'm The Rapper" is my favorite JJFP album, a lot of the beats sampled on that album were from the funk era. JJFP grew up in the funk era so their music shows that, don't sleep on the ol' school 'cause that music is better than what's out now.
  4. damn id like to hear that.. pharcyde - runnin Yeah that Aesop Rock and Camp Lo track's dope! :dj: btw right now I'm listening to 2Pac "Temptations"
  5. Hey once again lambert, what did I say that'd make u believe that I'm speaking for everyone? :dunno: I have the right to say that Dr. Dre has fallen off and I have the right to not like The Game, that's my opinion, your opinion doesn't speak for everybody either. What point are you trying to make here? :dunno: Just 'cause the rappers you listen to sell millions of albums doesn't make your opinion more relevant than mine.
  6. I expect that Will would be happy for Jamie and'll be encouraged to keep on giving advice 'cause he's humble and just doesn't care about just himself! :ditto:
  7. :werd: Look at James Brown's career for instance, he only had one album that went at least gold in 50+ years but he's known as "The Godfather Of Soul" and has been getting props in the recent years by the mainstream, which proves that work ethic pays off, 50 Cent couldn't last 10 years in the game let alone 50 that's why he won't be remembered. Public Enemy,MC Hammer, Rakim, and KRS-ONE are still in the game after almost 20 years and are capable of being in the game for another 20, even though they haven't sold much in recent years their quality doesn't slip, so that's why they'll be remember years ahead just like James Brown will be.
  8. When mcs go into acting just to make money they deserve to be called sell-outs, it's better to have props as well as money 'cause it's also about inspiring people when you put 100% in and get success, but like you said AJ there's more hating out there than anything, that shows though that Will's the best 'cause if he was wack people wouldn't even pay attention to him. :ditto: A lot of these commercial rappers don't even put 100% in their music how could they put 100% into something they never did before? :nhawong: There are a lot of inspiring mcs and actors who work hard to try to get in the buisiness but can't 'cause these commercial rappers are taking spots that they shouldn't, I personnally question how a lot of these cats even got record deals with no talent!
  9. I had that CD for almost 3 years now and it has remained in heavy rotation in my stereo, they represent the true essecence of hip-hop! :werd:
  10. Xzibit couldn't make 20 million a film like Will could but he has a point there, the movie industry is making more money than the music industry is these days.
  11. Thanks for the props, I think it's important for us to keep his message alive for the generations ahead, we've came a long way but we could still improve, everyone needs love no matter who they are and what differences that we have with each other! :werd:
  12. I got the "Space Jam" soundtrack on cassette I bought back in the day, there's some dope stuff on there, I like that song "Hit 'Em High" the best which featured LL, Busta Rhymes, Method Man, and Coolio. I like that song "All My Days" which featured Jay-Z, Changing Faces, and R.Kelly, and of course everyone heard of "I Believe I Can Fly" with R. Kelly on it.
  13. Public Enemy "Fight The Power"(Live Performance at Amsterdam in '92)
  14. “MLK's Message” Poem Written on January 20, 2003(MLK Day '03) How many of our peeps Take some time To open our eyes and see A way of non-violence? Which is MLK's message The answer to that must be few Because in 2003 the major issue's not racism It's members of gang crews killing other gang crews Which means that there's still a lot of hatred Don't let the violent ways influence you To act out and do the same thing There's more of an attraction In this society To pick up a gun Instead of choosing passion Against fighting And giving love The truth exists That many of us think that love Makes you look soft with cowardness The real truth is When you love Your heart will only strengthen We'll survive longer if we apply MLK's message: which is non-violence He died fighting for us to have a better life!
  15. Well since today's MLK day, the song of day should be "Stop The Violence" by BDP "Worldwide BDP are the freshest! Worldwide! Worldwide! Worldwide! One two three, the crew is called BDP and if you want to go to the tip top stop the violence in hip-hop, Y-O Time and time again, as I pick up the pen as my thoughts emerge, these are those words I glance at the paper to know what's going on someone's doing wrong, the story goes on Mary Lue's had a baby someone else decapitated the drama of the world shouldn't keep us so frustrated I look, but it doesn't coincide with my books social studies when I speak upon political crooks It's just the presidents, and all the money they spent all the things they invent and how the house is so immaculate They paid missiles, my family's eating gristle then they get upset when the press blows the whistle Of course the main profiles are kept low you temper with some jobs, now the press is controlled Not only newspapers, but every single station you only get to hear the president is on vacation But ehrm, stay calm, there's no need for alarm You say "go back" to your mom, and you're off to Vietnam You shoot to kill, come back and you're a veteran but how many veterans are out there pedaling? There's no telling, 'cause they continue selling As quiet as it's kept, I won't go into depth You can talk about Nigeria, people used to laugh at ya. Now I take a look, I say "USA for Africa?!" Huh. What's the solution, to stop all this confusion? Rewrite the constitution, change the drug which you're using Rewrite the constitution or the emancipation proclamation we fight inflation, yet the president's still on vacation BDP posse! I say: one two three, the crew is called BDP And if you wanna go to the tip top stop the violence in the hip-hop, Y-O This might sound a little strange to you well here's the reason I came to you We gotta put our heads together, and stop the violence Cause real bad boys move in silence When you're in a club, you come to chill out not watch someones blood just spill out That's what these other people want to see another race fight endlessly You know we're being watched, you know we're being seen Some wish to destroy this scene called hip-hop But I won't drop not I or Scott LaRock Now here is the message that we bring today: hip-hop will surely decay if we as a people don't stand up and say: "Stop the violence!" "Stop the violence!" "Stop the violence!" "Stop the violence!" "Stop the violence!" I say: one two three, the crew is called BDP And if you wanna go to the tip top stop the violence in the hip-hop, Y-O BDP and me we step into the party top celebrity Say when we're coming to dance, we never have to pay a fee Cause that's where we got R-E-S-P-E-C-T I have this one wife, her name is Miss Melody I know I'm from the Bronx, she from the Brooklyn posse I tell ya look a little like this, then I tell you some that I Sometimes I got my gear on, sometimes I wear a hat Sometimes I'm in a Mercedes and sometimes I'm in a plain Sometimes I find myself upon the number two train Some people look at me and see negativity some people look at me and see positivity But when I see myself I see creativity So if I can create, well then I make some money Sha man, just put your hands up if you're out here gettin' paid Sha man, just put your hands up if you're out here gettin' paid One two three, the crew is called BDP And if you wanna go to the tip top stop the violence in the hip-hop, Y-O"
  16. When people look back on 2005 hip-hop in 2050 they'll say that the best mcs weren't on major labels and didn't get airplay, sooner or later the underground will get it's due! :ditto: If Will became the 1st black president the world'll be a better place.
  17. That battle was off the hook, nice job Da Brakes and Hero!
  18. I would have JJFP feat. Slick Rick on the "You Saw My Blinker" re-make
