  1. This came from Chuck D's terrordome at publicenemy.com that he posted yesterday, the whole article is interesting, but this part excited me: "Spoke to Charlie( first out the limo) Mack and PE will play during All Star Weekend in Denver..at this time we are close to agreement on being a part of the Charlie Mack Hip Hop Legend Show Tour ..the tour would like to run in May ..3 weeks about 20 shows featuring Big Daddy Kane, MC Lyte, Doug E Fresh and Slick Rick and integrating other acts as well." Maybe one of those integrating acts are JJFP, I sure hope so! :thumb: If JJFP went on that tour wit them, it'd probably attract more fans and bring all these legends back on the scene again! :ali:
  2. Hip-hop has a globabl and diverse fan base, mainstream/underground/gangsta/gospel/or whatever other category rappers get put in all different kinds of people listen to them. btw, I'd say that Nick Cannon does have more talent than The Game does, he's a funny guy, I might not like be into all of his songs but I'll admit that he does have some skills, Will would even tell u so, but then again The Game works with Dr. Dre, but that doesn't mean I have to listen to every cat that's down with FP and Dr.Dre, I have my own preferences, if you put Dr. Dre, FP, KRS-ONE, LL, and Rakim all in the same room at the same time to discuss hip-hop they'd all have different opinions about how hip-hop is right now but they're all in the same game.
  3. Everyone has their different opinions on what's real and what's not, I'm reading this book I got from the library called "Hip-Hop America" By Nelson George and it talks about the history of hip-hop, I know a lot about hip-hop already but I try to keep on learning more and more about the history 'cause its important to understand about the hip-hop culture, you can't just be biased to one part of hip-hop, every mc expresses themselves differently, you might like it or you might not but that's who they are. :ditto:
  4. :werd: I think you could probably top it Fuq 'cause you got a lot of skills! You gotta understand that's the reason why I like underground hip-hop 'cause they rap with a lot of heart and emotion like me and you do, it makes no sense to listen to music if it can't inspire you 'cause that's what I wanna do for the future cats, I also agree that top producers should give these beats to legends like KRS-ONE, Chuck D, and Rakim instead of 50 Cent, Ja Rule, and Nelly.
  5. I just got that Chuck D CD from the library yesterday and it was my 1st time hearing it, I'm gonna look around for somewhere that I could buy it, I never saw the "No" video, maybe it might be on the Public Enemy "Power To The People DVD" that's supposed to drop soon, it was supposed to drop last September but it got delayed, I read at their website that all the Public Enemy CDs are gonna be remastered/remixed over the next couple of years to celebrate their 20th anniversary. BTW right now I'm listening to Eric B.& Rakim "Eric B. For President" :dj:
  6. I been listening to Chuck D's 'AutoBiography Of Mistachuck" CD for the last hour, this is so damn ill!
  7. :werd: I don't give a damn about the album title as long as the album's dope, if people only buy the music based on an album cover or title, there's something wrong wit them! :nhawong:
  8. The only west coast mc on the mainstream that I really like is Snoop Dogg 'cause he doesn't do every song about killing people, he has fun too with his music and from most of the feedback here about this The Game album it sounds like that this album's most of that fake gangsta s***, now don't me wrong I like some gangsta hip-hop, but most of what I like from that is the late '80s NWA,Ice-T and early '90s Dr. Dre/2Pac/Snoop Dogg 'cause they made songs with a lot of meaning to it but I don't see that anymore, now every mc says they're a gangsta and from the streets but that doesn't mean that they are. :ditto: I also agree with Hero about how there's mcs like Souls of Mischief and Supastition on the underground that would tear most of these mainstreams rappers apart 'cause they make songs with heart and meaning! :werd:
  9. I ain't hating on 50 but I'm just speaking how I feel, I haven't listened to "Get Rich Or Die Trying" in over a year, that album is way overrated, I like some of his underground stuff but I wouldn't consider it legendary, there's no day in my life I'd ever consider him a better lyricist than KRS-ONE, I don't give a damn how many albums 50 puts out in his life there's no way that he could make as many songs with a soulful meaning that KRS has, and btw every mc in the game forever should give props to James Brown 'cause without him there wouldn't be hip-hop, respect the ol' school damn it!
  10. :werd: I thought we wanted an ol' school type album, "All About The Funk" ain't the most creative title but it explains what JJFP is all about, bringin' funky feel good hip-hop on the scene, that's why "He's The DJ, I'm The Rapper" is my favorite JJFP album, a lot of the beats sampled on that album were from the funk era. JJFP grew up in the funk era so their music shows that, don't sleep on the ol' school 'cause that music is better than what's out now.
  11. damn id like to hear that.. pharcyde - runnin Yeah that Aesop Rock and Camp Lo track's dope! :dj: btw right now I'm listening to 2Pac "Temptations"
  12. Hey once again lambert, what did I say that'd make u believe that I'm speaking for everyone? :dunno: I have the right to say that Dr. Dre has fallen off and I have the right to not like The Game, that's my opinion, your opinion doesn't speak for everybody either. What point are you trying to make here? :dunno: Just 'cause the rappers you listen to sell millions of albums doesn't make your opinion more relevant than mine.
  13. I expect that Will would be happy for Jamie and'll be encouraged to keep on giving advice 'cause he's humble and just doesn't care about just himself! :ditto:
  14. :werd: Look at James Brown's career for instance, he only had one album that went at least gold in 50+ years but he's known as "The Godfather Of Soul" and has been getting props in the recent years by the mainstream, which proves that work ethic pays off, 50 Cent couldn't last 10 years in the game let alone 50 that's why he won't be remembered. Public Enemy,MC Hammer, Rakim, and KRS-ONE are still in the game after almost 20 years and are capable of being in the game for another 20, even though they haven't sold much in recent years their quality doesn't slip, so that's why they'll be remember years ahead just like James Brown will be.
  15. When mcs go into acting just to make money they deserve to be called sell-outs, it's better to have props as well as money 'cause it's also about inspiring people when you put 100% in and get success, but like you said AJ there's more hating out there than anything, that shows though that Will's the best 'cause if he was wack people wouldn't even pay attention to him. :ditto: A lot of these commercial rappers don't even put 100% in their music how could they put 100% into something they never did before? :nhawong: There are a lot of inspiring mcs and actors who work hard to try to get in the buisiness but can't 'cause these commercial rappers are taking spots that they shouldn't, I personnally question how a lot of these cats even got record deals with no talent!
  16. I had that CD for almost 3 years now and it has remained in heavy rotation in my stereo, they represent the true essecence of hip-hop! :werd:
  17. Xzibit couldn't make 20 million a film like Will could but he has a point there, the movie industry is making more money than the music industry is these days.
  18. Thanks for the props, I think it's important for us to keep his message alive for the generations ahead, we've came a long way but we could still improve, everyone needs love no matter who they are and what differences that we have with each other! :werd:
  19. I got the "Space Jam" soundtrack on cassette I bought back in the day, there's some dope stuff on there, I like that song "Hit 'Em High" the best which featured LL, Busta Rhymes, Method Man, and Coolio. I like that song "All My Days" which featured Jay-Z, Changing Faces, and R.Kelly, and of course everyone heard of "I Believe I Can Fly" with R. Kelly on it.
  20. Public Enemy "Fight The Power"(Live Performance at Amsterdam in '92)
