  1. I was just watching Game 2 of the WNBA Finals on ESPN2 between the Conneticut Sun and the Seattle Storm(in case y'all didn't know), it was a great game too, for a while it looked like Seattle was gonna blow Conneticut but the Sun made a comeback at the end of the game and the Storm won 67-65, the winner on Tuesday night wins the WNBA championship, they're just as exciting as watching the NBA Playoffs, they got skills! BTW, I got NBA2k5 the other day for my PS2, it's dope, Scottie Pippen's still on the Bulls in the game! I'd love go to an NBA practice and meet some of the players, it sounds like u had a lot of fun 2day there! :switch:
  2. Hey thanks 3cookies for putting in the word 4 me, yeah I was the 1 that was asking if Kevin Willis would be interested in coming by and saying what's up to us! Dope pics! :thumb:
  3. Technically Da Brakes would be the 2nd British MC in hip-hop history, Slick Rick was the 1st, brush up on your hip-hop history y'all! :werd:
  4. When I get a chance I'm gonna post more of the rhymes I wrote when I was in high school, maybe even some of my 1st rhymes that I wrote in early 2000.
  5. There's no official release date yet for "Switch"? I thought it was supposed to drop 2 months ago, what's up with such a long delay if the video was shot already?
  6. :werd: It's a great feeling when u look at your ol' work and come up wit something new and it's all dope, I try to balance out the rhymes I write about, some battle rhymes, some rleationship rhymes, some political rhyme, mcs like LL, KRS, and FP inspire me to stay consistant as an mc! :dj:
  7. Hey does it mean that we're not allowed to curse in the "Numero Uno" freestyle battles anymore? :dunno: I actually like that idea 'cause that's what they do on 106&Park when they have freestyle battles and actually on Friday the champion cursed right in the middle of the battle and got disqualified and that was actually fair 'cause he didn't display much skill anyway! :ditto: I rap a lot without cursing, I used to rock the mic when I was in high school with my freestyles and I didn't curse, but once in a while when I write a song I might occasionally drop a curse, but I only curse about as much as KRS-ONE and more than half his albums don't have PA stickers on them, it's not like I curse a lot like Eminem does! :werd: Anyway since this is the "Switch" topic, is this song gonna get released this month?
  8. Did anyone else besides me, Michael, and AJ see the documentary? :dunno:
  9. Well the reason I brought this topic is that there started to be a discussion 'bout LL in the "Big Will" section, and that's out of line, why u gotta get on me for not cursing and yet u don't get on those going off topic? :dunno: LL Cool J is one of the reasons why I started rapping, he's such an inspiration for me!
  10. My bad I slipped up, but a lot of cats here been cursing way more than I have, I'll control my language, I don't like being censored though, I was sticking up for LL! :werd: If anyone wants to discuss more about LL let's do it over at the Caught In The Middle Forum at the "LL Cool J Interview" topic which I think everyone here should read if they didn't when I posted it 2 weeks ago. :ditto: BTW, LL said in an XXL interview that he can't redo "Mama Said Knock You Out" over and over, he has to do something new all the time!
  11. I figured that I'd bring this back to the top for anyone who missed it!
  12. I didn't see the video yet either but I love the song though, I heard it on his website, I hope it gets some airplay, I'm definately gonna check out his album and I might drop in on MTV.com and BET.com and put some votes in so the video could get into rotation, he definately deserves to be heard, he's one of the best mcs out right now! :werd:
  13. The problem with hip-hop now is that the rappers that're the most creative and skillful like Common, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, and The Roots don't get much attention as they should, they weren't even mentioned at all in this documentary. :nhawong: I have to admit though that VH1 did a better job than MTV or BET would do and I was impressed with that, it was good entertainment, I only wish that they'd show more hip-hop videos than they usually do on a regular basis. :werd: Last night's show wasn't all that bad, they didn't mention Nelly at all, and they didn't talk on and on about Eminem like I thought that they would, they mentioned Outkast,Foxy Brown, Lil' Kim, Eve, and also Missy Elliot, I liked the fact that Nas was making comments about every hip-hop era by being in all 5 episodes like FP, Hammer, Ice-T, and DMC, I'm surprised LL wasn't interviewed at all in these episodes! They talked about how much of a multibillion buisiness hip-hop is and that's a great thing but the true should get the shine and it hasn't been over the recent years! Episode 5 Grade:B, It was more entertaining than Episode 4 was that's for sure, but nothing could top the 1st three episodes
  14. Hey that's just your opinion, all those artists you mentioned were all inspired from LL, and I don't feel like making a huge argument over this since this thread is about "Switch" here, let's stay on topic, there are many other mcs that deserve to be dissed in this game before we diss LL, he's done too much for the game to just be $h!++ed on! :werd: You think LL's soft 'cause he's not cursing in his songs anymore? If you feel that way then you must think FP and Run-DMC are soft too right? :nhawong: Enough of this bull$h!+ 'cause I only wanna know like everyone else when does "Switch" drop, does anyone know? :ditto:
  15. I was waiting 2 see if anyone else was gonna respond but I notice nobody did so I guess everyone that didn't participate should vote on this so we could bring it to a close so we can start a brand new one 'cause this battle kinda dragged out too, I said what I had to say already here! :werd:
  16. I'm Glad You Enjoyed It, let's keep the feedback comin'!
  17. DMX "Shorty Was Da Bomb" Andre 3000 "Prototype" Twista Feat. Kanye West and Jamie Foxx "Slow Jamz" Twista Feat. R. Kelly "So Sexy" Erika Badu Feat. Common "Love Of My Life" Common "The Light" Bow Wow Feat. Jagged Edge "My Baby"
  18. You might be able to but I bet those 10 rappers have less much style and emotion than LL, and can't rock the house as much as he could, that's what an mc's supposed to do, but if somebody tries to battle LL, I bet he'll step it up lyrically, it's hard to be motivated when there ain't that much creativity in the game anymore, he's survived almost 20 years in this game and the way things are going in hip-hop, LL will be one of the last mcs standing 'cause you'll see that a lot of these rappers like Eminem and Nelly are gonna fall off soon and won't do it anymore 'cause they don't love the art as much as LL does! :werd:
  19. What's up y'all, I was going through some of my old rhymes and I noticed that I have some verses that I used to write that I didn't count as a song or a poem, they were sorta like freestyle verses 'cause I would feel hyped after school to write some rhymes for the freestyle battle the next day in school, that's how I sharpened my skills check out this verse, enjoy! “Y'all Didn't Want It” Written By Big Ted on February 27, 2003 Your whole crew is a miscast Y'all ruined the script fast Y'all won't improve against hot **** raps That'll zoom in your heart fast And'll only move in as a heart attack Or to make that more complex It'll be a cardiac arrest Teddy brings the hardest rap to test I noticed how you thought it was easy, man now you're dead I'll give you some credit though A'ight the word deader doesn't exist yo But that's the only credit you'll get And why do I need to kill you over and over again That's the point I was originally making Dumbass, I'll wreck your rims Punk, and I'll impress your chick Quit talkin' like you're a member of Tribe Called Quest When you ain't getting' no “Hot Sex On a platter” Besides I'm the one rapper That girls wanna call master And I'm also the one rapper Who you won't batter I'm not soft as a cake mix Whatever I want man, i'm taking Don't judge what I'm making Without knowing what I'm capable of This ain't 'bout being high for the moment Get it straight how Teddy's mind's more focused This ain't 'bout being high on the dope **** Like the coke or the Chronic This is motivated 'bout mc'ing aeorodynamics Not staying on ground All the hot elevated sound Got the spot motivated to bounce With me like they blazed an ounce I'm talking literally how speciafically I dominate today another bout **** the hydro I'm just so high on life's flow Whatever cash I make, only I know I don't let out the figures Don't make me bust out another middle finger Don't ever talk down about me like I'm a bitch or a quitter Talkin' 'bout me is gonna get ya This Guerilla MC will wreck ya
  20. I'm glad you did well! The more you perform the better you'll get, practice makes perfect, keep on doing it! :thumb:
  21. Here's a few for the list: Foxy Brown Feat. Blackstreet "Gotta Get You Home" Guy Feat. Heavy D "Do Me Right" Pep Love "T.A.M.I." Talib Kweli and DJ Hi-Tek Feat. Les Nubians "Love Language" KRS-ONE "The Only One"(The Only Love Song I Heard From Him, He wrote it about His Wife) Biz Markie "Just A Friend" Slick Rick "A Teenage Love" Slick Rick "Venus" 2Pac "Heaven Ain't Hard To Find" 2Pac "Ratha Be Ya N***"(Is That 2 raw 4 ur list?) 2Pac Feat. Outlawz "Keep Ya Head Up"(Remix) LL Cool J "Around The Way Girl" LL Cool J Feat. Kelly Price "U and Me" Wyclef Jean Featuring Wayne Wonder and Elephant Man "I Am Your Doctor" Keith Sweat feat. LL Cool J "Why Me?" Tribe Called Quest Feat. Faith Evans "Stressed Out" R.Kelly Featuring Notorious B.I.G. "Be Happy" Nas Feat. Aaliyah "You Won't See Me Tonight" Nas Feat. Ginuwine "You Owe Me" Nas Feat. Kelis and Claudette Ortiz "Hey Nas" JJFP "Ring My Bell" Babyface Feat. LL Cool J "For The Lover In You"
  22. Who in hip-hop is original anymore anyway? :dunno: I like Talib Kweli and Mos Def but I still think LL's a great artist, he's not on KRS-ONE's level as far as lyricism is concerned but he has his own unique style that many rappers have tried immitating over the years and that's what makes him great, he always raps with a lot of emotion though, what rapper you think currently raps with more fire than LL? Better show some respect 'cause he's a legend and could still take it to any rapper that wants to battle him!
  23. How does everyone feel about the documentary so far? Here's how I rate the episodes so far: Episode 1: Ah, the essence of hip-hop, DJ'ing, breaking, MC'ing, having a good time even though there were hard times then, they did a good job explaining how hip-hop started and how it's supposed to bring success to clean up their lives 'cause it showed how Afrika Bambattaa and The Zulu Nation were able to do that after being a gang, they were able to clean up their lives through hip-hop! Grade: A+ Episode 2: the golden age of hip-hop, they did a great job mentioning JJFP, Run-DMC, LL Cool J, Salt-N-Pepa, Big Daddy Kane, Beastie Boys, Public Enemy, and KRS-ONE, but they missed a few artists, the episode should've been longer, other than that it was dope! Grade: A Episode 3: the start of gangsta/hardcore hip-hop, they did a good job with this one too explaining about how it was a music to explain the street life and bringing reality unlike a lot of these wannabe gangsta mcs who try to be like NWA, Ice T, 2Pac, and Snoop Dogg Grade:B+ Episode 4: they spent too long on the Biggie/2Pac fuel, they talked for 10 minutes about Puff Daddy where shiny suits like he was the 1st one to do that(he bit that off of MC Hammer, if you listen to his lyrics, you'd see that he samples and bites off of everyone, no creativity from him whatsoever) and how he brought good times to hip-hop(they didn't mention Will Smith doing that and his album "Big Willie Style" sold more than "No way Out" at that time period and they didn't mention Busta Rhymes or Tribe Called Quest bring feel good music at that time too), then they went on about the wack bling/bling era, but they did mention Nas, Mobb Deep, Wu-Tang Clan, and the underground Jay-Z, so they get some points for that! Grade:C- I hope they don't screw up on Episode 5! :ditto:

    LOSE IT

Hey I'll admit that I like a few of Eminem's commercial tracks like "Lose Yourself" and "Sing For The Moment" where he did rap with emotion, but what makes a great artist is doing it track after track after track like he did when he was underground, that's why Dr. Dre signed him, he has talent, but he's not consistant anymore, "Lose It" is wack, it sounds like he's mumbling his lyrics, he's not speaking clearly! He never tried to be funny when he was underground all of his rhymes were serious, you could tell that it's a force to sell records when he's trying to be funny unlike FP who grew up as a class clown, he keeps it real for who he is, he's not serious and doesn't try to be, Chuck D and KRS-ONE are legends 'cause they never make songs to sound funny, they remain serious 'cause that's the type of people they are, what I'm saying is I would like Eminem better if he didn't do songs like "The Real Slim Shady", "Without Me", "My Name Is", or this current "Lose Yourself" 'cause these don't represent who Eminem really is, keep it real Eminem, don't try to sound like the kings of comedy to sell records! :ditto:
  25. :werd: That's true man what you're sayin' about draggin' this topic too far but what would be the point of having forums and chat rooms if you can't express your opinion? :dunno: I like seeing other people's opinions 'cause I get to see things in a different way than I see it, I still might not agree but you know debating is sorta like freestylin' 'cause you gotta come back and defend yourself or else you'll look embarassed, the only difference is that you do it with rhymin' in a freestyle. :ditto: Apology accepted lambert, there ain't no hard feelings! :thumb:
