1. Was Jazzy Jeff there? :dunno: If the single's comin' out next month why didn't Will mention about it when he was interviewed? Shaq shouldn't have been there last night he should have been in Greece helping the U.S. team win a Gold Medal. :poke:
2. Hey y'all LL Cool J's album's comin' out 2morrow and you can check it out right here at this link:MTV.com
3. Hey y'all I found this dope site about underground hip-hop,check it out:Underground Hip-Hop
4. A lot of the mcs today who claim to be gangsta rappers like Ja Rule and Fabolous do are fake rappers, they just try and bite off of 2Pac and Biggie stereotypes, they weren't gangsta rappers like the media tagged them to be, they were telling stories about growing up in the streets but once they got famous they cleaned up their lives and weren't in gangs anymore. Why would someone be in a gang if they're making millions of dollars? Before Nas got a record deal he used to sell drugs, but does he sell drugs now, I don't think so, he's a millionaire now! Personally I don't consider myself to be a gangsta rapper 'cause I'm not in a gang and I don't sell drugs, I personally consider myself a hardcore rapper 'cause I bring the reality of my life in my songs. I find it ignorant that a lot of these teeny boppers that live in the suburbs who drive around in a brand new cars that their mom and dad bought them turn around and say that they're gangsta, they dont even know what it's like to be poor let alone being a gangsta, just 'cause they listen 2Pac they think they know but they don't know! Anyway back to 213, I read a review about "The Hard Way" in the Sept. 2004 issue of Vibe and it went somethin' like this: "On their long overdue album, The Hard Way, 213-Snoop Dogg, Nate Dogg, and Warren G-nostalgically offers its signature G-funk sound. But delinquent timing and a lack of relevant material won't recapture an audience that has since moved on. On "Joystick", Long Beach's finest rekindle the flame of past glory amid smooth piano accompaniment glazed under the sampled Mtume classic "Juicy Fruit". The Kanye West-produced "Another Summertime" featuring the always enjoyable LaToiya Williams, spreads deep soul vibrations throughout the 'hood. And Nate's melodic crooning on the infectious lead single, "Groupie Luv", serves as the perfect backdrop for Snoop's and Warren's pimp personae. But though their overdone macking is readily accepted, 213 is less convincing these days when selling the gangsta image. Tracks like "Run on Up" and "213 Is da Gangsta Click" fail to stir despite Nate's catchy choruses. 213's obsolete subject matter offsets otherwise satisfying sounds, thus leaving these stars to learn a valuable lesson the hard way: Time waits for no man."(Rondall Conway, Vibe Magazine)
5. The only way the best players are gonna go to the Olympics is if they get paid less money, I'm a big fan of the NBA but I think fans should go on strike until the talent meets up to the standards of their sky high ticket that they pay to go see when most of these players don't play with 100% effort anymore! :bang: I think that the women have been playing with more heart than the men are right now and they're underpaid!
6. Thanks for posting that Da Brakes, I was hoping that Chris Rock would host it again 'cause he gets me interested in watchin' it 'cause he's so damn funny!
7. Very funny song! Even FP would enjoy this one! :urock:
8. What the hell mfuaua u passed me already? Yesterday I said that you were gonna pass me next week, well damn this is only my 3rd post 2day, there might be days comin' up where I won't post at all 'cause I'm gonna be busy wit a home college course that I'm taking starting next week.
9. I ain't gonna put a timetable on when I wanna start construct, I'm gonna concentrate on recordin' some tracks soon, I know a guy that I used to work with who's a DJ on the side and makes beats in his crib that lives around my area, maybe one day when we get a chance we'll start recording something together. I'll keep y'all posted though, I'm taking my time with it 'cause I wanna do it right!
10. To get back on topic to this new Boyz II Men album, in the August 2004 issue of Vibe they give it a mediocre rating! Here's what they said about it: "Following the disastrous of its 2002 release, Full Circle, Boyz II Men tries to silence it's career's death knell with Throwback Vol. 1, updating soulful oldies-but-goodies. Only, instead of fresh reinterpretations, the quartet gives listeners soulless Xeroxes. Vocals for ballads like Michael Jackson's "human Nature" and the Isley Brothers' "For the Love Of You" are notches below the originals. Although BIIM momentarily recaptures its shine with an acappella rendition of Debarge's "Time Will Reveal", Throwback isn't enough to throw them back atop the charts."(Marcus Reeves,Vibe Magazine) I think I like AJ's review better, you should consider being a hip-hop beat writer AJ 'cause you got good writing skills.
11. Well damn I spoke too soon just when they looked better they lose today to Argentina 89-82, oh well gotta give credit where credit's due, there's some talented players overseas and more of them will probably be in the NBA more than ever now that the US team lost in the semifinals, the best they could win now is Bronze! :speechless:
12. Thanks for the shout out Da Brakes, I've enjoyed posting here over these past few months and chatting to y'all about anything that's on my mind, it's a family atmosphere around here where it seems like everyone has each other's back! :grouphug:
13. They could use that money to feed the poor! :eek4: Even though I don't like Jay-Z and P.Diddy as hip-hop artists at least they donate to charities! Kanye might be a talented artist but maybe he's not that cool as a person.
14. That's what we gotta do, keep real hip-hop alive. I like to mention my favorite athletes in my rhymes too 'cause I'm a sports junkie too, I'll mention guys like Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Charles Barkley, Dikembe Mutombo, Rickey Henderson, Barry Bonds, Hank Aaron, Bill Russell, Donovan Mcnabb, Jerry Rice, Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield, and Martin Brodeur sometimes when I rhyme.
15. I haven't been able to watch much of the Olympics but I hear that they're playing much better now, Stephon Marbury scored an Olympic record 31 points in yesterday's win over Greece, I read the article on ESPN.com check it out:Marbury 31 Leads Team USA into semis I'm glad that he's proving himself as a great player, he's gonna make the Knicks a much better team this year, they would've won at least 10 more games if he started the year with them last year, but he wasn't traded there until the All-Star break.
16.
okay,i've been readin dis ova n ova where are these new forums?? peace word life :cya:
You just posted in a new forum silly! Prince and Hero1 are referring to the new forums that were here since March, well I didnt know nothin' 'bout the old forums 'cause I didn't starting posting here until March when the new forum was just a couple weeks old. So ur back now huh Wild Child? :poke:
17. You're probably gonna pass me next week if u keep up this pace! I haven't been able to post that much these days 'cause I've been busier than I was when I started to post in March, lol, it's all good though.
18.
Very well put bigted. U kno, I still wanna be a big artist. Just maybe not on a double crossing label. btw, I'm checking that site out rite now.
As younger artists coming into the game we should learn from the mistakes that the veterans have ran into and proceed the game with caution! I wanna rep for my people right, I don't wanna do something that'll make them feel that I let 'em down from what they taught, if I have to change my image to sell millions of records I won't do it, I wanna do it right and put Seaside Heights on the map the proper way in the hip-hop game no matter how long it takes me. BTW, as you could see checking out the website it mentioned that KRS-ONE rocked the mic last month in front of 35,000 fans, he's still on top of his game! I can't wait to buy his new CD "Keep Right" 'cause it comes with a bonus DVD of live performances and has 23 tracks! :switch:I would really like to see JJFP and the Blastmaster KRS rock the house one day together!
19. I mentioned JJFP in some of the songs I wrote, giving them props like I do with my other favorite artists in my rhymes I like to give props to the cats that inspired me to start rhyming(2Pac,KRS-ONE,Nas,Biggie,Rakim,Big Daddy Kane, Public Enemy, and LL Cool J are some of the others I mentioned in my rhymes if you check some of the songs I posted here you'll see that I gave some props to them in there), I wouldn't know about real hip-hop if I didn't listen to them, now it's time to carry the torch!
20. If this is true, Kanye is becoming a sellout! :bang:
21. :thumb: Great freestyle, to me I find that the best freestyle comes when you don't rap for a few days, you have all the emotion in your head and you just wanna let it out, I can tell that u did that right here, sorry I couldn't reply sooner but I've been busy working. Keep it up, peace!
22. Right now I'm listening to KRS-ONE's "Kristyles" album, has anyone else here heard it besides me? :dunno: It's a great album, if he keeps rapping like this he'll be rapping for another 30 years easily! I gotta get the new one, it's hard to keep up with all his albums 'cause he releases them so fast!
23.
Yeah, it seems like artists and companies are flying over 2 Koch Records. But i dont know why. They put out albums and that's it...no promotion. Montell Jordan's came out with one video that got some play on BET but gain no real success. There waz a promo vinyl single released and that waz it. Deathrow's 2Pac remix album and live album came out with no videos, singles, etc. Now Boyz II Men, one of the most respected groups of all time come out with no video or singles. Hopefully they get on the ball. It's nice 2 have creative freedom, but it's no good if people don't hear your music.
I agree with you a lil' bit 'cause there's garbage music in the mainstream, a lot of these ol' school r&b singers like Keith Sweat and Boyz II Men are selling nothing compared to what they used to sell and a lot of these younger r&b cats who have no skill (Like B2K, lol) get more attention in this 106&Park generation! Of course it's the same thing with the ol' school rappers, a lot of them aren't recognized in the mainstream except for LL and Will while rappers like Jay-Z can say the same rhyme for 4 years and still go multiplatinum! The whole music industry is messed up right now, KOCH records doesn't give artist as musical freedom as you'd think 'cause KRS-ONE released "Kristyles" last summer but KOCH left off 3 tracks that KRS-ONE planned to put on there, it only had 17 tracks, and KRS-ONE left KOCH this year and released his album on another independant label called Grit Records, if anyone cares check out his new label's website:Grit Records One day a lot of these ol' school artists'll retire when they have to put out more money to make their albums than they actually make on a top label, realistically only Will Smith could afford to not sell another record for the rest of his life 'cause he makes a lot of money off of movies. This is the reason why I don't wanna be too much involved in the music buisiness, it's just a pipedream realistically, you might be rich for a while IF you make it when you're young, IF you don't make it before 30, you're better off doing what you were doing before that 'cause teeny boopers won't buy your records and it seems that the older fans don't buy music at all these days 'cause I bet a lot of the people that bought "Born To Reign" or "Big Willie Style" weren't those fans during "He's The DJ, I'm The Rapper" era. A lot of fans don't keep it real and it ain't the artists fault like you said AJ, you act like KRS-ONE doesn't try but he knows the game better than you and me do, he'll end losing more money by signing to a top label 'cause he'll dish out more money for videos and singles to be made than he'll get back in return EVEN if he goes platinum, he could actually afford to make albums still 'cause independant artists get better money, but of course all labels are shady.
24.
I'm listening 2 it right now. I'm kinda disappointed. A full studio album would be so much better than an album of covers. Nate, Shawn, and Wanya are the only ones in the group now. I knew Mike had health problems but i didn't know they were serious 2 keep him from recording.
No Michael on the album?!!! :eek4:
25. I've considered her one of the best female m.c's of all time, she came in the game with an aggressive rap style and introduced Naughty By Nature to the hip-hop game, and she has done so much to bring a positive influence to the game, unlike Lil' Kim who only shows off her body and doesn't work on her flow as much as she should, but I never pictured Queen Latifah doing an album with all singing and no rapping, she actually started singing and rapping on her albums before Lauyrn Hill did! Why isn't she doing any origial material on this album?!! :dunno: The hip-hop game needs Queen Latifah to start spitting to set these hoe female rappers straight!
