1. What's up y'all I recently checked out the September issue of Vibe magazine and I found this interesting piece mentioning 51 CD's that are vital for your music collection, on the most part I liked the picks that they made, but I noticed that they didn't include any of JJFP's albums on there, they could have easily included "He's The DJ, I'm The Rapper" 'cause that was the 1st hip-hop album to ever win a Grammy and set the table for the legendary career of JJFP, it doesn't seem right that they mentioned "Paid In Full", "Criminal Minded", "It Takes A Nation of Millions To Hold Us Back","The Great Adventures Of Slick Rick" and "Straight Outta Compton", then not mention "He's The DJ, I'm The Rapper".
2. The past is over now, not all great albums go double platinum, look at "Illmatic", it barely went gold when it dropped but is considered Nas' best album even though his other albums went multiplatinum since.
3.
English!! some french!
Me too!
4. There's a great interview with Shyne in the September issue of Vibe, he mentions that P.Diddy was a snake and didn't tell the truth in his trial, so P.Diddy got out of prison but Shyne didn't. :bang: He's getting his life together so I think that his music will be more mature, I might consider buying his album when it drops as well.
5. Damn I'm happy about my Bulls now, there's no doubt about it that they're going to the playoffs in '05, they just traded Jamal Crawford to the Knicks to get one of the best defensive centers of all-time in Dikembe Mutombo! :hsnono: There's no doubt about it that Jamal Crawford is very young and talented, but Dikembe Mutombo still could play at least 3 more years of solid defense that a lot of guys in the league can't play so I think that the Bulls will do well with this deal, they also got Othella Harrington too in the trade, who's also a solid role player, if they play like a team sky's the limit, they could do what the Pistons did this year, and if Pippen decides to play next year, he could still provide quality minutes off the bench, since he can't play 30-40 minutes a game anymore with his injuries.
6. Happy Birthday Kimmie! :thumb: :switch:
7. Hav fun my man! :highfive:
8. Rick James is dead, damn that sucks! He was the man! R.I.P.
9. For me creating rhymes are so vital For competition I'm raising the bar
10. Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it!
11. And I always creatively write stuff To get my name in the street
12.
Another battle that we have forgot to mention is KRS-ONE vs. Nelly. All real hip-hop fans know that KRS-ONE destroyed Nelly wit the song "Ova Here", while pop fans continued to ignore that and bought Nelly's garbage album that summer, which sold more than Born To Reign. :cussing:
Oh yeah I wanted to show y'all the lyrics to that song "OVA HERE", check it out: OVA HERE Lyrics Artist: KRS-One Album: The Mix Tape Song: Ova Here Typed by: Gemini_2050@Hotmail.com [Intro] The real hip hop is ova (Here!!!!) The real hip hop is ova (Here!!!!) The real hip hop is ova (Here!!!!) The real hip hop is ova (Here!!!!) [Interlude] Blaow Blaow!!! Blaow Blaow!!! Clear em out clear 'em out!!! Word! [Verse 1] Yo Nelly! You ain't Fo'Reel and you ain't Universal Your whole style sounds like a N'Sync commercial Ignoramus, I'm the baddest with the mic apparatus Challengin the God of rap is madness, I'll snatch your status With this ugly lookin billboard you could stop them But I got enough albums to make my own top ten You limited, like the spread of traffic You bite my style off the radio so when you speak you bet I hear the static You better Chillout like Chuck, I kick like three Norrises One of my sixteen bar rhymes is eight of your choruses Of course it is ridiculous Watch out, I begin to curve indispicuous Gotcha! On your, hands and knees Ain't it about time for some real emcees? [Chorus] The real hip hop is ova (Here!!!!) The real hip hop is ova (Here!!!!) The real hip hop is ova (Here!!!!) The real hip hop is ova (Here!!!!) [Verse 2] (Uh!) Uh! We on the hunt tonight When you see me comin, I don't front I fight People say I'm contradictin, cause I'm all about peace To say the least with a violent history It ain't no mystery these rappers wanna get with me My people don't see that all they hear is stop hittin me, huh Stop beatin me Chris, you want to help my career Nelly? Well you can help if you don't exist, huh I think it's 'bout time we stop these pop rappers **** these pop rappers, hip hop does matter to me Does it matter to you? My crew If it does, you know what the hell to do Throw your guns in the air, pump it like yeah Let these bitch ass rappers know we in here Go to the shows huh, boo 'em off stage Tell 'em KRS told you they at the end of they days Let me tell you let's give hip hop a lift And don't buy Nelly's album on June twenty fifth That'll send a message to all them sellouts House nigga rapper, your bottom done fell out You don't even know how I told you I wasn't talkin about you then, but I'm talkin about you now! Blaow! one to the kness, blaow one goes right through Even St. Louis don't like you!!!!
13. That's the sad thing about society these days, you get criticized if you talk about God like if it's a curse or somethin', Kanye West has done a great thing for hip-hop by releasing this track as a single 'cause he's speakin' from his heart in it, it doesn't matter what religion u r u gotta recognize that! "So here go my single dog radio needs this They say you can rap about anything except for Jesus That means guns, sex, lies, video tapes But if I talk about God my record won't get played Huh?"
14. “Taking It Back For A Minute” Chorus: I'm takin' it back for a minute Before I track overwhelmness Later on you'll say that you felt this But right now we attack with plenty of steps Never lack the various sense When I take it back for a minute To the days where rap made sense Verse One: M.C's forgot the heart of a rhyme When they speed all out of line The musical key has to be a raw route of design Or else you'll be all out of ya mind Not all the things of the past We should forget We don't have to live in the past But we shouldn't forget Or else we'll feel the drag in our ass 'Cause we lose our purpose Lookin' like fools lyin' on the surface But never findin' a fuse to try a movement The music we choose can't analyze pollution 'Cause those foolish lies you're usin' Give the wrong message to our children The aggression can fuse to devour the building In other words, a foundation formed to occur no explanation That has no thought behind it What lesson is taught from rhymin'? If your battle you fought's just dyin' Where's your handle to the ball when you're not tryin' Turnovers overrule the equation That tool of debating Is jacking fool punks hating How're you sayin' that's outdated You can't just stay in 2004 You have to remember the game before Even if it was a nightmare, you can't act like you were just born Or else you'll end up with a nerve just sore You can't occur to perform Overnight with the wrong recite Of words from hype Just pickin' up the damn mic Is the stuff that rips punks to dash on the hike 'Cause I ain't new anymore to this script Check it, I've been on to scorch the hittin' The art of performance Since the start of 2000 And the year now is 2K4, there ain't B2K no more 'Cause groups concerned with pay are scorched That's why there ain't many legends Like Boyz II Men, New Edition, or Run-DMC 'Cause they want just money Management's too out of hand and cocky You can't just run the rout of the jam to stop me 'Cause you think I'm going, but I'm going left And I'm overflowin' mics, my flow is def Go back to bed little tykes, I'll put the throw over ya head Yeah, that's the ill rhyme, so now you know every night I hit Never any chill in my life, 'cause I grow wit my mind lit With new ideas but I recall what I did I never screw up twice, I ball wit excitement Of knowledge of strife and all percerverence My time is on clearness My watch to shine isn't goin' off, hear this There's no verse out of line, no queerness When the chorus isn't mine, it's all immitation, zero creation Y'all wishin' I'm gonna hear all you're sayin' But when you're stuck in today You're just in a daze No future in the game See you have to know your past So don't try to go so fast Don't listen? You'll go regrettin' Forget your history of your past And your life goes in a flash Nobody will bother to help you direction Where is inflection Of clarity With a perspective? That's so warily The wrong sense Is wack, you'll have no air to breathe In your chest If you forget to breathe That's the same equivilant By you not tryin' to achieve This is relevant if you know what happened, think of where you lead With experience It's always possible to believe That's it, you n'ah mean [Repeat Chorus 3X 'til end]
15.
It'z the length of each line, not the length of the total amount of lines, bigteddy.
I feel what u sayin', mfuqua!
16. Yo mfuqua, if you think that those verses are long, I'm gonna post one of my verses later that'll make Prince's verses seem short! It don't matter how long or short a verse is, it means no difference, if you got a lot to say, don't cut yourself short, sometimes I have so much **** on my mind I'll somtimes end up writing a song wit three 50-bar verses, while when I 1st started it was struggle to write a 15 or 16 bar verse, I came a LONG way. Anyway Prince I felt those verses don't change anything about it, you are very talented, keep doing ya thing! :thumb: These days there's too much focus on beats, there should be more focus on lyrics, and that's the problem these days in hip-hop, if you make an album with dope beats and not much lyrics that're relevant, it should be a wack album 'cause there should be a balance of both. That's what makes rappers like Nas, LL Cool J, Rakim, KRS-ONE, FP, 2Pac, Biggie, and Chuck D so great 'cause they focus on lyricism in their own ways of making songs, whether it's a conscious rap song from KRS-ONE like "Higher Level" or a song that shows comedy from FP like "Parents Just Don't Understand", you can feel the lyrics, whether they make you laugh, dance, get hyped, or chill, they make you feel somethin', but these days when you hear a song they don't make you feel anything, 'cause the lyrics are mediocre.
17. We always find a way to connect From NJ to the UK we rockin' it!
18. It's very deep, it reminds me of a song that I wrote after my grandma passed away called "A Letter To God", maybe one of these days when I have time to type it on my computer I'll show you it!
19. I don't have no problems wit my voice, I like listening to my voice, I just need something to record with!
20. I'll make y'all "Understand" like Da Brakes My jams will blow ya away
21.
wow interesting stories guys...I guess the only time I'd ever really "spit" would be on this board, but I'm not good at all....hence why I haven't won a championship yet. I've gotta close with Prince one time but I'm not all too great. I might get back starting to write some, I sometimes typed lil things up in Notepad on my computer but I later deleted them. Do you guys write in notebooks or type it? And FuQ, I love your Summertime '04!!! It rocks and is your name supposed to be "fu*ck" ? cuz i noticed FuQ if you say it..its the f-word. lol.
Hey man when I started rappin' I wasn't great at it either, it takes some time to develop your skills, just keep on trying and you'll get better at it. Your rhymes that u wrote on the board during the freestyle battles are very good for someone just starting out, all you gotta do is develop a way to write songs and you'll do well. When I first started writing songs I wrote on looseleaf papers that I put in a folder but when it got overstuffed I decided to write songs in notebooks in 2001, I'm working on my 4th notebook, that's about an average of 1 notebook each year, that's not counting a separte notebook that I write poems in(they're more like personal stories you'd write in a journal) and since I got my computer in March, I type some of my lyrics on NotePad as well. Well now that I'm working 2 jobs I don't have much time to write songs like I used to but I'm trying to get back on pace in between as much as I can 'cause I love to do it so much. I'd love to record, but I don't have anything to record with right now, I really need to find a DJ to hook up with.
22. I know y'all feeling it Our creative explosion
23.
U know, maybe da 4 of us should make a song 2gether. What y'all think?
That would be a dope idea, we relate to each in many ways even though we're from different parts of the world! :thumb:
24.
I much prefer being a solo artist than rapping in a group!!
Me too, my so-called best friend that gave me the name of Big Ted used to be my potna in rhyme and he was known as Brhymin' R. and we were a duo. We were planning for weeks to enter the talent show in our high school back in 10th grade, I memorized all my lyrics for our song so i did well in spitting my verse, but he didn't do that well in memorizing his verse and he screwed it up for the both of us! :cussing: After that it seems things went downhill for him, it seemed that he wasn't as dedicated with improving his skill as I was, so I was the best in my high school that everyone was trying to beat in a freestyle competition, and nobody paid attention to him anymore. I'm keeping my name Big Ted so that way one day if I get famous he'll remember how much he screwed up to not wanna rep wit me. It's easier to be solo 'cause you're always gonna stay true to you and nobody has to change your ways, be yourself! :thumb:
