  1. Yo, go to this website right here to find out how much KRS-ONE is involved in hip-hop consciousness:http://www.templeofhiphop.org You'll notice that he even wrote a hip-hop declaration of peace to bring promote hip-hop in a more positve way and that hip-hop appreciation week is from May16-May23rd this year! :peace: Check it out, a real hip-hop fan should know about this!
  2. I couldn't believe that the Nets won that game! The Pistons had many chances to put them away after Billups hit that shot to force OT(I honestly thought that the Pistons had the momentum in the overtime) until the Nets benchwarmer Scalabrine came in and hit clutch shots like he was Reggie Miller or something! The game was over 4 hours of pure adrenline, awesome ****! Sprewell dominated against the Kings and it looks like the Wolves will pull out the series against the Kings but we'll see what happens. You can't count the Spurs or Pistons out 'cause they will be motivated to not come up on the short end of history after they were devasted in classic games! I can't wait to see if the Heat could pull out a game in Indiana 'cause if they win tonight, Reggie Miller's shot at the ring this year could fade away. I can't believe how quicky it changed from being one of the more boring playoff years to one of the greatest playoff years in NBA history, I love it!
  3. KRS-ONE is a minister too 'cause he opened up his own temple(he calls it "The Temple Of Hip-Hop") and he makes albums that promote consciousness in rap. It would be great if Mase's rap style changes from that flashy frontin' style that he had with Puffy!
  4. They're both unoriginal 'cause they bite off of Michael Jackson like Jazzy Julie said, so I'm gonna say that they both suck and that's why they're on TRL! Music fans have poor taste these days, look at what happened on American Idol, crappy artists get fame and that's bull****! :cussing:
  5. Did y'all see that Lakers/Spurs game last night! That game came down to the wire, I couldn't believe that the Lakers won after Tim Duncan hit that shot wit only 0.4 seconds remaining but Derek Fisher got off a shot wit time expiring that silenced the Spurs crowd reminising the way Jordan silenced the Jazz crowd after that shot over Byron Russell back in '98, Incredible! I hope all four semi-finals go seven games 'cause it's great right now to be an NBA fan finally after that boring 1st Round! :peace:
  6. It just doesn't come down to only freestylin' 'cause it's true that Jay-Z and Eminem are great freestylists but they basically do the same routine on all their songs. Just 'cause you're a great freestyler doesn't mean that you can make great songs. Rappers like Nas and 2Pac are better writers than freestylers but that doesn't matter much when they put out great songs. You can win a freestyle contest against a million people but if you struggle in your creativity in making songs then it's a lost art. If Eminem and Jay-Z put more heart into making songs, they would get the props that Biggie got 'cause he was a great freestyle artist and made records that showcased that he could make songs with the same heart as his freestylin' skills!
  7. The only reason why Ma$e was popular back in '97-98 was 'cause he had hit records with Biggie and Puffy on it and the people only liked them 'cause of Biggie's verses! Like P.Diddy when he does a song by himself he falters, he needs a million people on his album to pick up his stock.
  8. What's up y'all I just found out that Pete Rock has a new album that was released two days ago, May 11th 2004 and it's called "Soul Survivors II" on BBE Records. I just wanted to let y'all know that weren't informed yet so that way we can support ol' school hip-hop pioneers so they'll stay in the game! Peace! :peace:
  9. He was on ESPN this morning and was talkin' about how he got the role of Willie Beamen on "Any Given Sunday"(That movie was off the hook!)over P.Diddy 'cause he throws the football better than him. Is he gonna release an album 'cause his hook on "Slow Jamz" was crazy!!
  10. That JMJ tribute was a classic! That moment and the James Brown performance with Michael Jackson were my favorite moments from the show!
  11. I have Cablevision and TBS is on Channel 39. Once in a while I'm able to catch it but I'm usually busy at that time too!
  12. Did you know that The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air's also on TBS too?!! I believe that it's on 2:30-3:30 P.M.(U.S. East Coast Time)! :peace: One day it'll probably be on every channel 'cause it was such a classic, people talk about how "Friends" was such a great show, but it ain't got nothin' on "Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air"!! :dancingcool:
  13. All the battles were really tight! You did a good job djsilvertiger in battling me, it was fun, good luck to everyone, Peace! :peace:
  14. Man that makes me feel old 'cause Nick at Nite features mostly shows that my parents used to watch when they were my age! That's big news though!
  15. What happened to New Edition? A couple years ago Michael Bivans was on Soul Train wit his group B.B.D. and mentioned that a 20th anniversary album for New Edition was gonna drop in 2003 but it never did! What happened, are they retired? :dunno: It's also been a long time since Heavy D released anything, I didn't know that he was rapping still! You're right AJ, Hip-Hop needs Heavy D back again.
  16. Even "The Bernie Mac Show" is now putting its 1st season on DVD and the show just started 2 years ago! The shows are funny as hell but they're not even syndicated yet like "The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air" is. :cussing:
  17. The sad thing is for the young teens now that are in high school who only seen the commercial side of hip-hop(sex,drugs,cash,clothes,Cristal), how will they be original if they see nothin' original out there?!! :dunno: They'll talk about the same things when they make their demo tapes 'cause they'll think "Oh THIS is the way I'll get famous"! :cussing: To be honest though I did the same thing when I first started rapping at 15, but by the time I was 17 I hated that style and started to listen to more of old school hip-hop and decided to be myself more 'cause it felt worthless imitating others, I remember more kids in my high school liked my rapping when I tried to act commercial, but I don't care who likes me 'cause I feel better when I'm myself! :peace:
  18. He might not have a credit card 'cause mostly everythin' you buy on the internet you need one so we shouldn't diss him for this!!
  19. His voice didn't change that much between "Big Willie Style" and "Born To Reign" his voice is totally different from "Code Red", nothin' else he did since sounded like "Code Red" with his voice! I just don't get it 'cause I don't see any boxers voices change so it couldn't have been from "Ali" training! :dunno:
  20. The thing is hip-hop is everywhere these days so there's no pressure on a lot of these new rappers getting record deals to raise the bar creatively 'cause their record sales have always been high unlike when it was the mid-'80s and early-'90s where it was harder for hip-hop to be accepted in mainstream! Think about this way "He's the DJ, I'm The Rapper" was a classic hip-hop CD, but it only sold 2 million copies and Eminem sold more than 7 million copies apiece doing "The Marshall Mathers LP" and "The Eminem Show" but the albums weren't as hot from beginning to end as "He's the DJ,I'm The Rapper". If Eminem was releasing those albums 10-15 years ago he wouldn't be selling as much 'cause back then, nobody did! Dr.Dre's "The Chronic" set the standard for hip-hop in the '90s but only sold 3 million copies, but each of his protege(Eminem) albums sold more than that and that's a disgrace when Eminem's an average rapper at best. Ludicris, Jay-Z, and Eminem have been doing the same thing for the last 6 years but they always go multiplatinum. I liked them when they 1st came out but they got boring. I admire artists like Will Smith, The Roots, Nas, and Common 'cause at least they attempted to do something DIFFERENT with all of their albums! As long as hip-hop remains mainstream there won't be motivation for originality unless you check for the underground scene.
  21. How 'Bout this one from "Chasin' Forever": "4 Years And Like Wine You Got Finer With Time"
  22. I got out of line m.c's sweatin' over my appeal on statements I shot out runs like Rickey Henderson 'cause I'm stealing bases I always find my way to home plate Since you're that lame catcher When you lose your craft, lame rapper It's gonna be hard for you to catch up I'm the all star celebrity and you're a back up If you're not on my team then the losses occur to stack up So you only play garbage minutes Go fool your opportunity away and you're on the practice squad again I already scored 50 points today when your ass got ripped The coach didn't bother callin' your name to check back in He caught you were already nappin' He said you're a problem and waste of a pay check and wacked ya head In front of the rest of your team Big Ted is the best of the league And you're heading to a developmental league You'll have to file for unemployment After I destroyed your ankle you're annoyed That I made you return to rehab And your only time in the majors will occur only as Being a towel boy is your only chance Until the owner's son beats you to it Don't get all sentimental from my rhyme scheme, I'm only foolin' But seriously you don't have much of a chance of winning Over the accuracy of the stuff that I'm spitting I have more velocity than Roger Clemens I can't store mercy when I got the shot to win I jam to exert heat and I block your shot again Like Mutombo and wave my finger, "not in my house trick" Is what I'll be yellin' I'll be buldin' a dynasty similiar to when Russel was leading the Celtics
