Skillz announces his retirement as a solo artist
bigted replied to Da Brakes's topic in Caught in the Middle
It's a shame that Skillz never got a chance to blow up big as he should've but since he does have that talent he'll always be around as a songwriter, there's so many out there that need schooling on how to write a good song -

http://www.publicenemy.com/index.php?page=page2&item=234 Public Enemy's Two New Albums Will 'Talk to Each Other,' Says Chuck D 05/25/12 01:00 http://www.billboard.com/column/the-juice/public-enemy-s-two-new-albums-will-talk-1007132952.story#/column/the-juice/public-enemy-s-two-new-albums-will-talk-1007132952.story Public Enemy's Two New Albums Will 'Talk to Each Other,' Says Chuck D by Gary Graff, Detroit | May 23, 2012 12:20 EDT Comments 0TwitterFacebookMyspaceDigg EMAILMore printrss Artists in this Article Public Enemy Public Enemy plans to celebrate the 25th anniversary of its recording career not only by dipping deeply into its past -- 1987's "Yo! Bum Rush the Show" -- during its concerts but also by unleashing a wealth of new music. Frontman Chuck D tells Billboard.com that the iconic rap group is in the process of finishing up a pair of albums planned for this year -- "Most of My Heroes Still Don't Appear on No Stamp" during the summer and "The Evil Empire of Everything" in the fall. "They're twins, fraternal twins -- not identical, but they will talk to each other," D says. "The statement with these albums isn't so much just within the content but in the audacity of the release, just like, 'What the hell? Two albums that bookend the summer? What the hell?!' But we know we've got a fan base that's kind of acclimated and used to albums because we were the first to come along and kind of bring a concept album to the hip-hop marketplace. So we oblige this year by doing not one, but two." Chuck D Talks New Public Enemy Albums, Skid Row Festival Performance D says both albums contain "powerful songs and great collaborations," including appearances by Brother Ali, Henry Rollins, Tom Morello, DMC, Bumpy Knuckles, Large Professor and more. And though they're certainly of a piece, D adds that each of the albums will have defining characteristics. "Maybe in the past one would've been an A side and the other a B side, or it would've been a long CD," he explains. "But halfway into making it we decided to have two different aspects, one that dealt with the whole movement of people ('Most of My Heroes...') and the other that deals with the situation of everything coming at you at once, like a blizzard ('The Evil Empire of Everything')." The new music will certainly add spice to Public Enemy's silver anniversary, and fresh off a tour of Australia, D says he's appreciating the global impact the group has had since "Yo! Bum Rush the Show" came out. "I think the thing that's always been the saving grace with Public Enemy is we've always traveled to different parts of the world," he says. "If it was just a one-country thing, I'd be like, 'OK, where is our future?' But because we spread ourselves all over the world, over 80 countries in 25 years, it's seemed like one enjoyable adventure. We've never been subject to one country's standards or hot topics or trends. That's helped us. It's been one of the rare situations where we've marched to the beat of our own electronic drummer. These 25 years have been really enjoyable." Public Enemy continues its celebration on May 27 at the Movement Electronic Music Festival in Detroit and is also booked at the Heineken Open'er Festival on July 6 in Gdynia, Poland.

Exit 13's actually one of my favorite albums of the last 5 years in hip hop, a lot of the top albums of this time period had guest appearances that didn't fit, that's why I said it's the sign of the times but not many of those albums had Marley Marl and DJ Scratch production so that actually makes it better

XXL.com, "Exit 13" was basically a sign of the times, LL did his thing as usual but he was trying too hard to go multiplatinum by doing collabs that clearly didn't fit but there was also some production with Marley Marl and DJ Scratch which made it a great album, I hope Rick Rubin is doing some production on this album, and we all want that JJFP collaboration with him to happen

LL Cool J Talks Working on New Album LL has already started to lay the groundwork for his 13th studio album… Just because LL Cool J hosted the 54th Annual Grammy Awards this past February and has a recurring role on CBS’ drama, NCIS: Los Angeles, doesn’t mean he’s forgot where he came from. The multi-platinum and legendary rapper revealed that he’s working on a new album. “As far as the album is concerned, it’s real authentic hip-hop, you know what I’m sayin?” LL told XXL yesterday (June 20), after announcing the launch of his new virtual studio recording software, My Connect Studio, in conjunction with Sony. “It’s LL Cool J being LL Cool J. “It’s 2012, so it doesn’t sound like it would sound if it were 10 years ago or 20 years ago, but it’s definitely official,” he added. Although LL didn’t reveal a title or ballpark release date, he did suggest that his 13th studio album would give listeners something that they haven’t heard. “It’s a breath of fresh air,” he said. “It doesn’t sound like anything that’s out right now. I think it’s crazy. It’s the business. It’s real.” Exit 13 back in September of 2008 marked LL last LP offering, as he hasn’t dropped a new album since. Yesterday, he also shared that he already started using his My Connect Studio software, which essentially allows two people to collaborate on music real time despite their location, to record parts of his new album. “I’m going to be doing a little bit of the album on the studio, make sure that it is official,” the MC discloses. “And as a matter of fact I started on my album too. It’s authentic hip-hop, it’s the business.”—Mark Lelinwalla

how many classic albums that were successful came out in the last couple years? honestly though me personally i'm at the point where i'm gonna release my own stuff and not worrying about who's doing what anymore, it's all about the love, who needs the money and fame, let the lame rappers have it but us true heads will always be around for the realness, i wanna collab with ks myself

I ain't really worried about what rappers beef, like LL said many times there's too much tension in hip hop these days and battling ain't fun no more, I don't want no part of beef either, personally I think I'm on the verge of finally getting a record contract since my local radio heard me freestyle for 2 minutes and told me that I got skills like LL and Fresh Prince I grew up on, I know I got more skills than these wack mcs but I'm set to do my thing, artists should focus on making some good music and leave the beef to the side...

"I know some of you out there as my friends might have a hard time believing some of this stuff that I typed but I swear with god as my witness that this is nothing but the truth coming from my heart, I've been reflecting with my mama about events that've happened within the last year between family, friends, people in general, the weather, current events, and we realise that these might be the las...t days, here's my story, god bless y'all for reading: me and my parents saw an image of a cross 11 times at my neighbor's house between June 2, 2011 and July 13, 2011, one time my mother was the only one of us three who saw an image Jesus with red streaks, most of the other times we saw a holy trinity of crosses. I'd write down everytime we saw these crosses in my bible. In between this time period there was a couple of significant events that happened in life, my uncle tommy was told that he could've had colon cancer around his birthday but then he was diagnosed cancer free, we were supposed to have this tropical storm in the jersey shore a month later in august 2011 that was supposed to be the worst in history but it turned out that we all survived it and me and my parents did not evacuate nothing happened to our house or anything around it in town. After this time period we didn't see any more images of crosses until easter of 2012, by that time my father got sick and was put away in a rehabilation center with psychotic dementia, seizures, and we were told that he had lumps in his lung that might've been cancerous, so it's just me and my mother living together now, anyway the reason why i bring easter 2012 is the other neighbor by us had an ...image of a holy trinity on his yard and then a month later my father had tests and we were told that he don't have cancer in his body. The reason why I'm typing this message tonight is I came across this image of a cross once again when i was eating dinner with my mother at our neighbor's house that had the cross there 11 times before during last summer and by the way we also saw the image of a cross on may 10th which was the day that my father had the tests on his lumps at the neurologist. For the past year or so we've been hearing the ocean really strong here in Seaside Heights right from our house and our family lives towards the bay and not the ocean, we've been living here from 18 years and we never heard it that strong before as we did the last year. It also came to my mind as I'm typing this that we had an earthquake here on this east coast around august which was before we were supposed to have that tropical storm, and I came across this article tonight that i posted on my page here after me and my mother had deep conversation at the dinner table about a lot of events of the world and our family during the last year and we were asking each other if the world is going to come to an end of second coming of jesus christ so i decided to do a google search on "second coming of jesus christ" and i came across your article and was inspired by it and all the testimonies on there with the feedback so I had to tell my story too, god bless you all." This is what I typed on the feedback section of this article I found on the second coming of Jesus, I'm definately a believer that something earth changing is about to happen soon, I pray that this will be all for the better for us positive people that follow god: http://www.whatchristianswanttoknow.com/biblical-signs-of-the-second-coming-of-jesus-christ/comment-page-1/#comment-11576

well the way i see it a lot of the true artists of hip hop history are slowing down their output or not putting out anything anymore, most of what's coming out now is by all the garbage rappers that've been torn apart many times on this board, it's like hip hop's seen better days, quite depressing when you think about it, like kool moe dee said in the mc that only real hip hop junkies like us actually know that there's some on the underground level are doing it, the lil' girls that buy albums don't listen to lyrics, it's all crappy club music, only us hip hop nerds check for lyrics, lol, if you judge by what's on the masses hip hop is dead...
-
well kel's in a better position than i'm in and the million of us trying to make it in the game are still, i've been rapping for 12 years and i never met and did songs with the legendary JJFP and countless other legends that we all love so much

JJFP to perform at the 'Men In Black 3' Premiere in NY?
bigted replied to Ale's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
damn i'm starting work this week so i probably won't be able to go, why can't they come back to seaside like when mib2 came out, that was when i was in 11th grade and i was in school that day btw 'cause i had exams, haha -
I wrote this right after I bought the Lost and Found CD 7 years ago, the happiest moment of my life so far!! With the hype around MIB3 I'm hoping for some more great memories, I recorded a lil' bit of this with some shout outs to the JJFP.com fam here, if I didn't shout ya out blame it on the head not the heart, I got love for y'all! You could listen and peep the lyrics right here: http://chirb.it/JgHpDA “Big Ted's JJFP Anthem For Lost and Found” (JJFP 1985-2005 and beyond) Hook(Big Ted Chantin'): Even when I get signed JJFP will still be the greatest of all time Nothing will ever change my mind 'Cause if it wasn't for them my hip-hop knowledge would be blind Unique individuals continually shine Black/white/rich/poor peeps all relate to their vibe Their creativity represent the ways of life Verse One: Now in this year of 2005 Once again Jazzy Jeff's on the wheels and The Fresh Prince is on the mic To burn all competitors since they're the top duo of all time “Y'all know” what happens when Jeff's cuts back up The Prince's rhymes It's a moment of monogomy like “Summertime” But let's go back to year 1985 Which was the 1st year of my life And the moment when these two forces combined Then a year later in '86 The release of “Girls Ain't Nothin' But Trouble” would hit The b-boy circles and block parties formed a moment of bliss They'd rock the house as the freshest Then in '88 they released a classic disc “He's The DJ, I'm The Rapper” They'd reign as hip-hop masters Winnin' the 1st grammy in the music's history for “Parents Just Don't Understand” So all those hip-hop non-believers were slammed 'Cause like FP said: “I told my mother I could never make a wack jam” And the duo took even further command When Quincy Jones offered them a plan Of turnin' their hip-hop dominance into a TV show that was seen across the lands Starting in '90, “The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air” Took hip-hop to a place that nobody else could compare Of sayin' they did 'cause this cross-over of hip-hop opened a lot of doors for hip-hop artists Now the industry's a billion-dollar industry in the stock market With mcs on the red carpet [Repeat Hook] Verse Two: “And In This Corner” they vetoed fake crews like the supreme court Cuttin' no slack in the music There was haters talkin' foolish Sayin' that their style was soft since other rappers started rhymin' about bustin' bullets Too many started going on that gangsta tip talkin' stupid So they'd set 'em straight on “Code Red” Showin' those haters they never lost their street sense Yet they still kept the music positive A lil' “Somethin' Like Dis” would remind that they never forgot about their “Homebase” Even though you'd see them on your TVs on Monday And now it's actually shown everyday But anyways we'd then see FP doin' blockbuster classic movies like “Bad Boys” and “Independance Day” While Jazzy Jeff was on the low still rockin' crowds with turntable displays It still wasn't the same feelin' until they decided to concentrate workin' on “Big Willie Style” Which would be released in '97 That's when I started to get into their music I only knew them from watchin' them on my TV set when I was 10 I didn't know that the Fresh Prince was a lyricist until I heard “Just Crusin'” And a year later I was blown away when I heard the transformer scratches from Jazzy Jeff When I bought their “Greatest Hits” We've been “So Fresh” throughout this “Willenium” [Repeat Hook] Verse Two: They worked together on 7 of the 8 Fresh Prince discs Up to this point, even though FP has been “Born To Reign” The diehearts like myself that he wasn't gonna be supreme without Jeff's scratches So now once again it's about to happen Don't sleep on Jeff 'cause he got his “A Touch Of Jazz” label established We're preparing for “The Return Of The Magnificent” turntable assassin Just when everyone has thought Fresh Prince was gonna just stay acting The critics will see the sustaining passion Once again they'll be lost 'cause Philly's finest has found the interaction To bring us more anthems The critics will once again be sayin' “I Wish I Made That” Who knows what the future holds for them The White House might be the future home of Fresh Prince And they'll be a party thrown by “The Magnificent” with fellow hip-hop heads in attendance This might sound a bit of a stretch Or a “shadow dream” for some But who would've thought that 2 kids from West Philly Would be having 2 decades of longevity So anythin' that comes their way from this point on as “potnas”, they'll always stay “Numero Uno” on the scene Their “Love For The Game” and fighting through “The Rain” is an inspiration for you and me “Tell Me Why” you'd doubt their legacy [Repeat Hook]

word, tommorrow's my mama's birthday and she's sad that one of her favorite singers died, rest in peace
-
hell yeah this would be perfect timing for me there's so much crap going in my life lately, i'd do anything in the world if i could see them perform live

it's true that people don't want albums, the state of hip hop and the music industry is very depressing, there's no classic albums out anymore, i think true artists should make albums regardless to how many people care, it's all about doing it for the true fans and keeping integrity as an artist, kel's a very intelligent brother, if he turns his facebook popsts into concepts for songs he could put out a classic album easily....
