  1. this all goes back to a discussion that me and fuq had on facebook about the qualities that makes a dope mcand i mentioned how the great ones have the gift of doing a variety of tracks at a high level, real hip hop is special 'cause it's something that relates to everyone, that's why fat joe is real hip hop to me, he has a proven catalog of classics so hate him or love him he's gonna stay in the game... btw i just love this verse he did on krs-one's "come to the temple" with smooth b, rampage, and rah goddess, these are the lyrics of a "found" mc that will talks about, don't get realer than this: "airplanes flying, overseas people dying, we trying not to escape but hit you with real the facts that's why the government wants to kill rap like me i represent the street life always schooling shorties how to eat right you better listen, this ain't coincidental if you need more information i'll be teaching at the temple"
  2. "Best Friend" on the "Friday Night Lights" mixtape is probably one of my favorites from him, it samples Aaliyah
  3. Well like I said since Will got at his critics on "Lost and Found" there's been less rappers running off about him, actually much more positive feedback for him, even the weaker rappers like 50 and Wayne respect him more these days, it's less likely that anybody would be dumb enough to diss Will in 2011 but like I said it sure would be funny to see Will whoop some wack mcs...
  4. Public Enemy released a box set last year and I spent $60 on it, I'll be willing to do the same for JJFP
  5. Yeah I wanna see those tracks come out, I still wanna see the albums come out again as remastered CDs with bonus discs of unreleased tracks
  6. So there's no opinions on the Snoop Dogg and Talib Kweli albums? I think 2011's been a good year artistically for hip since there's been albums/mixtapes/hot tracks from the legends and the upcoming mcs but commercially most aren't getting much buzz which is sad 'cause this good stuff in this thread deserves to be notice more than the crap that sells one million copies in a week...
  7. I'm hoping that the recent success of these new mcs like BOB and J. Cole will bring some hunger to the legends like Fresh Prince, Rakim, and LL to put out some fresh material for 2012
  8. There's still some current mcs out there that're doing their thing but they just haven't been getting heavy airplay which is dissapointing 'cause it felt like for a long time that I was just one of a handful of people that actually listens to quality music but with J. Cole having success I hope this opens the door for record labels to promote real hip hop again...
  9. well getting back to the discussion of the Fat Joe mixtape it'll be interesting to see if he goes at 50 again like he did on that "gay unit" mixtape, "300 Brolic" is another hard diss track, Fat Joe is just as versatile as Snoop is 'cause he does songs with all different kinds of artists, they prove that they're more than gangsta rappers, they're true artists that could make all kinds of music, "All Or Nothing" and "Rhythm and Gangsta" are both great records by those mcs...
  10. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bect5uKnBXs
  11. jeff might be doing another tour then...
  12. The state of the music industry has been pretty bleak, there hasn't been much appreciation for good music on the most part, even MJ wasn't that much in demand at the end of his life and he's the king of pop, it tok 10 years for Rakim to get his last album out there and that didn't get much buzz either, true artists in music been getting slept on in recent years... However on the flip side you see when actors put their heart into their films they get supported... I just wish people appreciated real music...
  13. Congrats Turntable, you got me like the Red Sox, lol
  14. 50 can't end Game's career, Game's been too consistant of an artist over the past 5 years by dropping quality albums and mixtapes, he's been doing a lot of collabs with everyone in the rap game basically, he has credibility that 50 wished he had, not too many respect 50 anymore as an artist, sure he's a good businessman but that's it
  15. it's kinda sad that more people recognise what a good movie is than they do what a good album is, i'm sure this eats will up 'cause he always said he loves to do music more than movies but like the rest us he likes to be appreciated in what he does so i could understand why he's been doing more acting lately...
  16. on the real as much as i don't care about record sales i'm just tired of seeing garbage albums go platinum in one week and win awards while only a few real heads recognise the dope albums, something's gotta break the cycle...
  17. sure he does, it doesn't make sense for the world to only know him as a blockbuster actor who occasionally raps
  18. on another note after "lost and found" i think most of these pop rappers would be scared to diss will but lately i've been kinda hoping that one of them does so he could come back hungry again like on that album so that he'll be running off the set of his next movie to beat down sucka mcs, lol
  19. Game's been whupping 50's ass for over 6 years now but 50 finally came with a decent response at him and anybody could beat Lil' Wayne but maybe a battle would wake him up to step his game up lyrically, illseed says that the game/50 battle is old but obviously people still care about it or else they wouldn't be talking about it still and I figure why not post this topic here to see the responses when it's all said and done it'll probably have more responses than the posts on the great young mc J. Cole, beef obviously sells, lol
  20. i'm listening to fashawn's "ode to illmatic" mixtape after turntable mentioned it in the j. cole album thread, that's definately one of the best mixtapes i ever heard: http://indy.livemixtapes.com/mixtapes/11944/fashawn_ode_to_illmatic.html
  21. j. cole did a nice interview here with allhiphop.com: http://allhiphop.com/stories/features/archive/2011/09/28/22893011.aspx
  22. Damn that sucks big time but there's no doubt that Will should use the internet more for his music promotion 'cause after all there was a certain man from Chicago named Barack Obama who used the internet on his campaign to become the first black president so yeah I'd say the internet's a big f'n deal in 2011, if Will was on the internet as much as some of these garbage rappers are he'd sell 10 million on his next album
