Ashanti - Never Too Far Away (Comeback Single)
bigted replied to Turntable's topic in Caught in the Middle
yeah this is a different sound for her, it's gonna take some time to grow on me but i give her props for trying something else -
i mostly listen to sports talk radio these days myself, the music station i usually listen to is wbls that plays r&b, old school hip hop, and gospel, and the rest of the music i listen to is from cds i buy or online...

JJFP "Caught In The Middle"(Love & Life) happy birthday shout out to the Fresh Prince!
-
i don't think he missed his chance quite yet since he got enough talent but it kinda seems like he's giving up and is frustrated that he doesn't have much buzz... i notice these days none of his posts on facebook are music related either, it'd be a shame if he never gets a chance to put out an album 'cause people need to recognise his talent...

lol, i got something in mind that i'll do here and see if anybody responds to it: There's been so much talk about the state of hip hop Some say it's alive, some say it's gone I say let's bring back the lyrics that're strong Like Biggie I tell all them critics you're "dead wrong" All the nonsense and drama is soft Bunch of internet gangstas, sucka mcs and wankstas They're all frontin' like they're gang bangers Just 'cause they seen a flick by Spike Lee Or heard a record by Ice-T But they won't last one round trying to fight me Since I bring the thrill with the skills To put an end to the negative filth Before I finish I give a birthday shout out to Will And a message to all the critics like he said it's "Time To Chill"

well it's been about a year now since we heard about the fresh prince of brooklyn mixtape and what happened???!! there hasn't been any music from him in a while...
-
looking at this old thread makes me think we should bring back the battles!
-
coolio "gangster's paradise", i think about rapping this in 5th grade with my classmates
-
biggie going back to cali, this is better produced track than ll's original classic:
-
Anyway it's all about the music with me, no rapper or person in general is perfect, we all have something that you could criticise, at the end of the day Fat Joe puts out good music so I give him props for that
-
I know people saying that Fat Joe sold out but he still does songs with Preemo, LL, and KRS, not just Wayne and Ross, it's just people notice the songs that he does with Wayne and Ross more since they're bigger names right now but it's not like he forgot where he came from, it's just like people say Will forgot his Philly roots and that he broke up with Jeff...

i think kanye's "bdtf" went platinum but it's nowhere near as good as his earlier stuff, "watch the throne" with jay-z recently went platinum too and that's an average album too, don't get me wrong like i said back then when you compare him to other commercial rappers like 50 and Wayne he looks good but when you compare him to the greats he doesn't measure up, he's not the second coming of Jesus like he says he is....

I was listening to "All Or Nothing" album last night, it's underrated 'cause it got a nice mix of street songs like "Lean Back Remix" with Mase, Eminem, Remy Ma, and Lil' Jon, "My FoFo","Safe 2 Say"(The Incredible), and "Temptation" Pts. 1 & 2, and commercial songs like "Get It Poppin" with Nelly, "Rock Ya Body", "So Hot" with R. Kelly, and "Hold You Down" with J-Lo

Damn I was just listening to his "My FoFo" 2005 diss track towards 50 and I gotta say that's probably in the top 5 hardest diss tracks of the 2000s:
-
i'm sure fresh prince probably don't feel the same way either if you interview him today, it'd been interesting though to hear how that unreleased fp/kanye track came out around 2005
-
it's amusing looking back at this thread, kanye's music has gotten worse since that time, i stand by what i said then too, his limited mic skills keep him from being one of the greats

People need to stop sleeping on my man Fat Joe, he's been putting in work, "The Darkside Vol. 1" 's one of the great albums out in recent years: Fat Joe Plans Release Of First Mixtape, Calls It The 'Hardest Mixtape Out' Penned by Allen Starbury, Published 09/22/2011 Fat JoeDuring the summer, Fat Joe emerged as a lighter version of himself in a new music video. Now, the rapper will do another first in his career -- drop a mixtape. Speaking with XXLMag.com this week, the New York rapper revealed that he'll be releasing a mixtape sequel to his 2010 album, The Darkside Vol. 1, which will be followed by an official album. Joe calls it the "hardest mixtape out." "We have the mixtape, The Darkside, Vol. 2 -- we gonna drop the mixtape no later than two-and-a-half-weeks," he says. "That's coming out super hard though. Not ever regular hard. It's gonna be the hardest mixtape out; nothing nice about it. The mixtape is too hard. Sh** coming out like what a street anthem mixtape should sound like. This is my first mixtape. We're gonna put it out as a mixtape and hit the people with that raw, street, Joe Krill." Joe also revealed that the street joints, "Drop A Body On Em" and "Massacre On Madison", are just a couple of the tracks fans should expect on the upcoming mixtape. Then, on his upcoming album, he says there will ne "crazy new sh**," including a potential collaboration with Maxwell. "We gonna have them joints on the mixtapes then we gonna have some new sh**," he tells XXL. "Crazy new sh**! Then we working on the album too. We haven't named it yet. The first single with Chris Brown is retarded. It's called 'Another Round,' produced by Cool & Dre and Young Lad. We got joints [on the album] produced by Rico Love; it's sounding great. "With the album, we're gonna make that music that everyone can relate too," Joe continued. "It's still gonna be hard, but it's gonna be hit mania. You know exactly what it is. The joint with Chris Brown is a super joint. I got another joint I'm trying to get Maxwell on. You know, I'm talking to the ladies. I lost that weight, I gotta talk to them." A release date for his forthcoming untitled new album has not been announced.

Ice-T Disses Rick Ross, Lil' Wayne, and Jay-Z!
bigted replied to bigted's topic in Caught in the Middle
Eminem's basically the same as Jay-Z in my view, he put out a lot of weak music when he got skills to do better, the "Recovery"'s a step in the right direction and the album with Royce 5'9 is decent too but for almost the last 10 years there was weak stuff, I like consistant mcs who make great songs all the time likeKRS-ONE, Nas, Rakim, and Speech even if they don't release stuff all the time when they do it's something special not some rushed junk like the one million wack Lil' Wayne songs... -
Ice-T Disses Rick Ross, Lil' Wayne, and Jay-Z!
bigted replied to bigted's topic in Caught in the Middle
the problem i got with jay-z is that he uses his influence in a negative way to promote trash artists just like when he signed rick ross and young jeezy and didn't promote ll cool j and method man when he was president of def jam and in recent times he puts out weaker music with little substance when he got skills to do something better but on a positive light he did sign j. cole and jay-electronica to roc nation which are talented mcs for the hip hop heads, only time will tell if they'll get promoted well though -
So do you think LL's trying to knock out Jay-Z?
bigted replied to bigted's topic in Caught in the Middle
yeah i'm looking forward to some music beef, ll cool j, ice-t, mc hammer, and kool moe dee all dissed each other back in the '80s and put out classics
