  1. i'm sure fresh prince probably don't feel the same way either if you interview him today, it'd been interesting though to hear how that unreleased fp/kanye track came out around 2005
  2. it's amusing looking back at this thread, kanye's music has gotten worse since that time, i stand by what i said then too, his limited mic skills keep him from being one of the greats
  3. i was just thinking will should make a song called "philly" with eve, beanie sigel, boyz ii men on the hook, with jazzy producing like ja rule made "new york" with jadakiss and fat joe a few years back
  4. People need to stop sleeping on my man Fat Joe, he's been putting in work, "The Darkside Vol. 1" 's one of the great albums out in recent years: Fat Joe Plans Release Of First Mixtape, Calls It The 'Hardest Mixtape Out' Penned by Allen Starbury, Published 09/22/2011 Fat JoeDuring the summer, Fat Joe emerged as a lighter version of himself in a new music video. Now, the rapper will do another first in his career -- drop a mixtape. Speaking with XXLMag.com this week, the New York rapper revealed that he'll be releasing a mixtape sequel to his 2010 album, The Darkside Vol. 1, which will be followed by an official album. Joe calls it the "hardest mixtape out." "We have the mixtape, The Darkside, Vol. 2 -- we gonna drop the mixtape no later than two-and-a-half-weeks," he says. "That's coming out super hard though. Not ever regular hard. It's gonna be the hardest mixtape out; nothing nice about it. The mixtape is too hard. Sh** coming out like what a street anthem mixtape should sound like. This is my first mixtape. We're gonna put it out as a mixtape and hit the people with that raw, street, Joe Krill." Joe also revealed that the street joints, "Drop A Body On Em" and "Massacre On Madison", are just a couple of the tracks fans should expect on the upcoming mixtape. Then, on his upcoming album, he says there will ne "crazy new sh**," including a potential collaboration with Maxwell. "We gonna have them joints on the mixtapes then we gonna have some new sh**," he tells XXL. "Crazy new sh**! Then we working on the album too. We haven't named it yet. The first single with Chris Brown is retarded. It's called 'Another Round,' produced by Cool & Dre and Young Lad. We got joints [on the album] produced by Rico Love; it's sounding great. "With the album, we're gonna make that music that everyone can relate too," Joe continued. "It's still gonna be hard, but it's gonna be hit mania. You know exactly what it is. The joint with Chris Brown is a super joint. I got another joint I'm trying to get Maxwell on. You know, I'm talking to the ladies. I lost that weight, I gotta talk to them." A release date for his forthcoming untitled new album has not been announced.
  5. Eminem's basically the same as Jay-Z in my view, he put out a lot of weak music when he got skills to do better, the "Recovery"'s a step in the right direction and the album with Royce 5'9 is decent too but for almost the last 10 years there was weak stuff, I like consistant mcs who make great songs all the time likeKRS-ONE, Nas, Rakim, and Speech even if they don't release stuff all the time when they do it's something special not some rushed junk like the one million wack Lil' Wayne songs...
  6. the problem i got with jay-z is that he uses his influence in a negative way to promote trash artists just like when he signed rick ross and young jeezy and didn't promote ll cool j and method man when he was president of def jam and in recent times he puts out weaker music with little substance when he got skills to do something better but on a positive light he did sign j. cole and jay-electronica to roc nation which are talented mcs for the hip hop heads, only time will tell if they'll get promoted well though
  7. yeah i'm looking forward to some music beef, ll cool j, ice-t, mc hammer, and kool moe dee all dissed each other back in the '80s and put out classics
  8. sometimes there's some exceptions like nas' "my generation" and when he did the hook on game's "my life" but most of the time he just ruins songs, he sounds a preschooler when he does songs with big time mcs, it's like a minor leaguer swinging with ken griffey
  9. yeah i still think this is great idea, out of all the artists I wanna see Jazzy Jeff and Fresh Prince work with, LL tops the list...
  10. yeah his voice is annoying and his rhymes are corny, i doubt most of those who think he's a great lyricist heard of mcs like rakim and big daddy kane, they're mostly justin bieber fans
  11. nobody mentioned ludacris but i'd like to see them do something again after "party starter", sure luda ain't really one of my favorites but he got a lot of energy
  12. if it ain't broke then don't try to fix it... this is weak...
  13. "code red" still ain't really that collab heavy compared to albums of today and i'm sure most of us would sign up for another album like that
  14. it's actually more refreshing that way after thinking about it for a while 'cause even a lot of the good albums out these days has songs on them with artists that just don't vibe with the flow, they come out like compilation, he could do a mixtape with all the collabs the hip hop heads been wanting but the JJFP album is something that's needed at this point
  15. basically everybody beat me to it, it'd be nice to have Will work with otherlegends of hip hop, he could do that on a mixtape but for an album it should be him and Jeff strictly like it was on the albums from Rock The House to Code Red
  16. Yeah Speech is a legend, one of the best to ever do it, btw I'm bumping this Jazzy Summertime mixtape on the last official day of summer: http://www.livemixtapes.com/mixtapes/12038/summertime.html
  17. will has remained true to the game like you mentioned, personally i feel the same way, there's so much trash out there it's hard to be inspired as an artist, if there was better stuff out there and the music industry was supporting true artists i feel true aspiring artists like several of us on this board would be in a better position, that's why i feel that it's important for legends like will and mistachuck to keep going with their music so that way the new generation of true mcs could keep going as well, it takes all of us to keep hip hop alive...
  18. LL's been dissing Jay-Z ever since "Todd Smith" wasn't promoted, MC Hammer made "Better Run Run" last year towards him, Game made "Uncle Otis", and now Ice-T's dissing him, damn, Jigga needs to come back with something 'cause he's looking soft right now
  19. i was noticing how this topic was searched so i figured i'd look at it, damn those 5 years went by quick, time has changed but more things have remained the same, I stand behind 100% what I said back then, Jay-Z still putting out weak commercial music and promotes himself more than others, I'm glad 50 didn't have much influence on LL's "Exit 13" since it turned out to be one of the last great albums over the last few years, Game's doing his thing right now though with his new album but most albums these days suck on a commercial level, I still think that song LL made on "Dear Hip Hop" from the "Exit 13" has a line that describes how Jay-Z, Rick Ross, Young Jeezy, Lil' Wayne, etc. "If so he's hot then why is the culture frozen?", they might top the charts but they're the reason why commercial hip hop is dead word to Nas, bottomline to end all this wackness once and for all LL, FP, Ice-T, KRS, etc. need to team up and make a "Mama Said Knock Out 2011" dedicated to all the commercial clowns, even Game could get on the track to say some lines about Jay-Z since they got beef too, lol
  20. great interview, i recently found out about summertime 2 and was wondering if there was anything posted here about it, check it here if you haven't yet since it's another classic: http://www.livemixtapes.com/mixtapes/14162/summertime_2.html
  21. yeah that's what he did with "Hard Knock Life" and it sold 5 million copies which is his highest selling to date, it was great balance between street and commercial, that's my favorite Jay-Z album, one thing that makes Lil' Wayne, Rick Ross, and these pop rappers popular is 'cause they got catchy beats, if producers gave those tracks to real mcs instead of them then those sucker mcs'd fall off since their mic skills are limited...
