  1. sometimes there's some exceptions like nas' "my generation" and when he did the hook on game's "my life" but most of the time he just ruins songs, he sounds a preschooler when he does songs with big time mcs, it's like a minor leaguer swinging with ken griffey
  2. yeah i still think this is great idea, out of all the artists I wanna see Jazzy Jeff and Fresh Prince work with, LL tops the list...
  3. yeah his voice is annoying and his rhymes are corny, i doubt most of those who think he's a great lyricist heard of mcs like rakim and big daddy kane, they're mostly justin bieber fans
  4. nobody mentioned ludacris but i'd like to see them do something again after "party starter", sure luda ain't really one of my favorites but he got a lot of energy
  5. if it ain't broke then don't try to fix it... this is weak...
  6. "code red" still ain't really that collab heavy compared to albums of today and i'm sure most of us would sign up for another album like that
  7. it's actually more refreshing that way after thinking about it for a while 'cause even a lot of the good albums out these days has songs on them with artists that just don't vibe with the flow, they come out like compilation, he could do a mixtape with all the collabs the hip hop heads been wanting but the JJFP album is something that's needed at this point
  8. basically everybody beat me to it, it'd be nice to have Will work with otherlegends of hip hop, he could do that on a mixtape but for an album it should be him and Jeff strictly like it was on the albums from Rock The House to Code Red
  9. Yeah Speech is a legend, one of the best to ever do it, btw I'm bumping this Jazzy Summertime mixtape on the last official day of summer: http://www.livemixtapes.com/mixtapes/12038/summertime.html
  10. will has remained true to the game like you mentioned, personally i feel the same way, there's so much trash out there it's hard to be inspired as an artist, if there was better stuff out there and the music industry was supporting true artists i feel true aspiring artists like several of us on this board would be in a better position, that's why i feel that it's important for legends like will and mistachuck to keep going with their music so that way the new generation of true mcs could keep going as well, it takes all of us to keep hip hop alive...
  11. LL's been dissing Jay-Z ever since "Todd Smith" wasn't promoted, MC Hammer made "Better Run Run" last year towards him, Game made "Uncle Otis", and now Ice-T's dissing him, damn, Jigga needs to come back with something 'cause he's looking soft right now
  12. i was noticing how this topic was searched so i figured i'd look at it, damn those 5 years went by quick, time has changed but more things have remained the same, I stand behind 100% what I said back then, Jay-Z still putting out weak commercial music and promotes himself more than others, I'm glad 50 didn't have much influence on LL's "Exit 13" since it turned out to be one of the last great albums over the last few years, Game's doing his thing right now though with his new album but most albums these days suck on a commercial level, I still think that song LL made on "Dear Hip Hop" from the "Exit 13" has a line that describes how Jay-Z, Rick Ross, Young Jeezy, Lil' Wayne, etc. "If so he's hot then why is the culture frozen?", they might top the charts but they're the reason why commercial hip hop is dead word to Nas, bottomline to end all this wackness once and for all LL, FP, Ice-T, KRS, etc. need to team up and make a "Mama Said Knock Out 2011" dedicated to all the commercial clowns, even Game could get on the track to say some lines about Jay-Z since they got beef too, lol
  13. great interview, i recently found out about summertime 2 and was wondering if there was anything posted here about it, check it here if you haven't yet since it's another classic: http://www.livemixtapes.com/mixtapes/14162/summertime_2.html
  14. yeah that's what he did with "Hard Knock Life" and it sold 5 million copies which is his highest selling to date, it was great balance between street and commercial, that's my favorite Jay-Z album, one thing that makes Lil' Wayne, Rick Ross, and these pop rappers popular is 'cause they got catchy beats, if producers gave those tracks to real mcs instead of them then those sucker mcs'd fall off since their mic skills are limited...
  15. lil' wayne and rick ross always been wack but one thing you could say about jay-z is that he used to be a great mc
  16. well when has lil' wayne brought the fire? i don't mean to sound like a hater but he's never been on the level of the greats
  17. in fact i was just thinking we should start an online petition to get him to put out this mixtape
  18. will should release a lost tapes mixtape on the internet right now with his unreleased tracks while there's all this buzz, it'll hold the heads over until mib3 comes out
  19. yeah i say that though since it's a weak album, i find it hard to believe that in 2011 so many people would waste their money on such trash when they could listen to it on the internet for free, the problem is that it seems like a lot of these so called real hip hop heads seem to be the ones who don't support the quality artists when they put out something, no matter how much i listen to online i still buy cds
  20. game's album been on heavy rotation for me, he's doing his thing right now, i'm looking forward to seeing if he did anything with will
  21. yeah back in the days if somebody was doing something fake they'd get dissed and it'd force them to make better music but these days they get away with it and that's why there's so much trash out there, more mcs need to speak up like this, I agree with you AJ that real mcs shouldn't sugar coat how they really feel, even FP gave 50 Cent props when we all know that 50's been one of the lost mcs... Jay-Z was one of the real mcs in the mid-90s but that's a long time ago since these days he puts out mainstream trash with Kanye, Ice-T's always stayed true to the game, he did a better job making "99 Problems" than Jay-Z did:
