DMX To Entertain Troops In The Persian Gulf
Turntable replied to bigted's topic in Caught in the Middle
I just wan on the site of a Urban Music Chanel (Dutch one, owned my MTV), and it said that DMX cancelled these shows. -
Call On Me didnt do that well till now, thats true. But I have the feeling that might change, caus now finaly there is some decent inforrmation about the album, and that might bring stronger promo. Besides that, It didnt get released outsied of the US till now. Europe is still waiting for the released date. I have the feeling it will do good over here.

It`s been a great year. Doesnt mather in what direction.. Old heros (LL. Busta, Cube, Method Man, Ghostface, Reakwon and more), and newcomers (Rhymefest, Lupe, J.R. Writer..)
-
No one else? I cant believe you guys, lol
-
I dont think he did molets anyone, but I`m damn shure he has mental problems. And I dont think guyslike R. Kelly etc. are good role models, if you look at certain parts of ho they life theyr life. But when it comes to music, its diffrent. Guys like MJ are mastermends in that. Genious and madness allways have been close to each other throughout history.

Do you think Will cares too much about sales?
Turntable replied to sonic1988's topic in Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince
I dont think that song is focused on Gangsta Rap. I mean, stuff like that is going in in allot of Rap Videos. That isnt what Gangsta Rap is about Thats what you might think, when you whatch MTV and stuff, but thats not true Gangsta Rap. N.W.A., Outlawz etc. That is true Gangsta Rap. By the way, that line is a lil over the top.. Its not like the Videos he made for Lost & Found are pieces of art. Switch, Party Starter.. Champign bottles, check, lots of models, check. He is a Rapper. Not a preacher. If he says he lovey Ready To Doe, than that isnt about PR. If he supports T.I., that isnt about PR. He say/does it caus he likes it. It`s not about Gangsta Rap alone.. It`s about the way certain parts of the whole Rap Industry are going, not just Gangsta Rap. -

If you talk abut me: I dont try to put him on line with those guys. Not at all. I`m just saying that it seems kinda weird. Why is Ready To Die one of his favourite Records, if he hates Gangsta Rap? Why was Big Pun, Cameron and them in the Studio with him? Dont tell me they where popular, caus around that time Will sold 14 Mil, and they didnt sell ish. By the way, how do you know himand Kim arent cool? I think its diffrent. He doesnt hate Gangsta Rap as a whole, he just doesnt like Gangsat rappesr if they dont show skills. That sounds more reasnoble to me, if you look at the facts. "With the strength to stand and say gangsta rap was whack". He thought it was wack, back in the day (Around the time he stopped Rapping). He grew up, he stardet to aprreciate some stuff, as long as its quality (And the problem is, that often it isnt quality).. Thats why he likes Ready To Die and stuff like that. -
Thats weird. Very weird. I`ll keep my eyes open. I love Keith Sweat.

I absolutly loved Invincible. It wants Michael on his usual way, but it was one of the best produced R&B Albums in those years. Every R&B Album that went big in the 2 years after it, was base on the production of Invincible. I loved the way how it was a combo of Hip Hop, Pop & R&B. Heavily underrated Album. You better like that stuff, caus if MJ will release an album again, it will probably go into the same direction as "invincible", since almost only Hip Hop Artists kep standing behind MJ during his case. He`s rumored to work with Pharrel and Kanye too, for his new album. I also dont agree that he got worse with every release. On History he had some of the best songs of his career, and that wasnt a album of his early days. On MJ himself: Love him or hate him.. But it is unqestionable that he is one of the best, if not the best, musicina of our time. He changed music forever, no mather in what direction. Rock, R&B, Hip Hop, Electro. Every R&B & Pop Artists that came out, after he got big, was inspired by him. Also allot of Hip Hop wouldnt be as big if it wouldnt be for MJ. Lets not forget that was was the first black man on MTV. What he did with Thriller is something nobody will ever do again. He`s the untouchable Kinf Of Pop, and he allways will be, no mather if he never releases anymore.

Didnt see this till now. I think its very good.

Keith Sweat brings back to Honolulu a sweet taste of the "real music" that rap has been missing. THE infatuation with everything old-school hasn't faded yet. Last year brought a flood of musical acts from the '70s, '80s and '90s, from the Eagles and Mötley Crüe to DJ Kool Herc, Public Enemy and De La Soul. This weekend brings another trip down memory lane, with the "Hot Soul Music Jam" reuniting Honolulu residents with some big names from the last 20 years. All are still prominently featured on local radio stations, and continue to get spins in nightclubs around town to this day. Along with Midnight Starr and Zapp, R&B crooner Keith Sweat will make his Hawaii debut nearly two decades after songs like "I'll Give All My Love to You" and "I Want Her." We caught up with him via cell phone while the singer made his way to an Atlanta recording studio last week. Question: So you're on your way to the studio. What's the name of your new album going to be? Answer: My new album's called "The Sweat Hotel." (It) won't be out until March ... I'm pretty much finishing up on it right now. Q: What can fans expect to hear? A: Mid-tempo, up-tempo, slow ballads, you know, pretty much stuff that I've been accustomed to doing throughout the course of my career. ... Sexy love songs, that type of thing. Q: You were one of the big players during the '90s heyday of New Jack Swing, when R&B music hadn't yet been overrun by hip-hop going mainstream. What are your thoughts on R&B today? A: Man, you know, it's still not what it was. I mean, when I think about R&B music, I think about Gerald Levert, Johnny Gill -- you know what I'm saying? -- those type of artists. Babyface, Tony Tone Toni, Guy, that's what's lacking right now. What people are doing right now, the music, I mean it's cool. I'm not mad at what they're doing, because it sounds good. I just miss, you know, the real music. I miss the R&B music. I love rap music, but I miss the R&B. Q: Was the New Jack Swing era the best period for the genre? A: It just goes back. It doesn't start with New Jack Swing. It goes back to Charlie Wilson. I mean honestly, realistically, I mean Stevie Wonder. That's what's lacking. People are starting to miss it. It's gradually coming back, because you know they sampling everything with R&B in it. To be honest with you, the majority of rap songs I hear got R&B music behind it. Q: You made a name for yourself in 1987 with "Make it Last Forever," and followed that with "I'll Give All My Love to You" three years later. Did things slow down at all after that? A: I've been pretty much busy throughout my entire career. I've been fortunate, that's all. Q: Well, you kept on putting out records, and continue to work with other artists. Is it true you worked with Cee-Lo on his newest album, along with producer Jazzy Pha? A: Yeah, I'm one of the guests. I mean, Jazzy Pha worked with me on LSG, (and) Cee-Lo, he can sing. I have nothing against working with different artists. That's what being creative is all about. Q: What can fans expect from you in 2006? A: I have the new album. From the new album comes touring and all of those type of things. I'm not a stranger to being on the road, so it's all good. Whatever it's going to take to make it happen. Q: How does your family handle you going on the road? Is it any easier now? A: My attitude is like, you can take your kids on the road in certain situations. I know people who have done that for years. ... I don't think whether you're a singer or movie star, I believe you still spend time with your kids in certain spots and situations. Q: A lot of recording artists have given acting a try. Is there any chance you'll be making the jump to television or movies? A: Well, I've done the "Martin" show, the Wayans' show, and some independent films before. ... (Los Angeles) is the place to be for that, to be honest with you, but I've been in Atlanta. Q: Anything you want the people out here to know before you arrive? A: I want to say thanks to everybody for the love and support, man. It means a lot to me. --- This is a interview from this year. He mentions his new album, called "Sweat Hotel". I love Keith Sweat, but I didnt hear anything about this album. Whats up with it? Did it get released allready? AJ?

Wordlwide, over 1 Million Records.. Thats is good. Stop wining. "Popular" Mc`s like Fat Joe, Ja Rule, Cassidy.. And even Obie Trice, Young Buck, Lloyd Banks and them mostly fail to sell that much. Cassidy, Ja and Joe for example struggled to sell about 800.000 Worldwide. And that is with allot of guys. Caus of the downloading, it will never go back to such high Record sales. 50 was very, very lucky with selling 5 Million Records. And The Black Eyed Peas, The Game and them sold about 3 Mil, also with Luck. Game came out in The G-Unit hype, he wont sell like that again. And The Black Eyed Peas released almos every song as a single over 2 Years.. come on. The best selling artists these days, like recently Mariah Carey, Green Day dont even sell more than 5, 6 Million Records. Things changed. Will does just fine.

I just checked out this track on allhiphop.com. This is a damn crazy track. The beat is energetic. And the subject is cool too. He starts his first verse with introducing himself. And in the other verses he shouts out allot of Mc`s like Reakwon, LL , Big Pun, Bone Thugs, Pac, Nas and many more. He shows allot of Respect, espacaly for LL. I like this track. Check it out if you find the time too.

Exactly. Ya`ll are saying he hates it, based on those lyrics. He also said that Biggie`s Ready To Die is one of the best albums ever. He also recordet songs with Petey Pablo, Lil Kim, Snoop Dogg.. Come on. -

Probably caus he is one of Husein Fatal`s best friends. The Outlawzs, Rap-A-Lot and The Inc. are tight.
