  1. I made this playlist today, only containing new (some of them more, some of them less - but all of them still at the beginning of their career) MCs - It's straight fire, and who am I not to share it with ya'll? Check those guys out and don't forget that this is just the tip of the iceberg. Hip Hop Aint Dead. Wale Feat. J. Cole & Melanie Fiona - Beautiful Bliss Jay Electronica - Exhibit A http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qN9ApBHDA2g
  2. It seems to be true, more and more news pops up over here (europe that is), on big, serious sites.
  3. There arent that many official sources out yet (here is one of them, in german though): http://mixeryrawdeluxe.tv/index.php/News/Detail/id/6375/showPage/1, but Primo, Puffy and Just Blaze confirmed it on Twitter. Sorry people, it's true. Guru passed away yesterdag, R.I.P. my G. — DJ Premier Blog News (@DJPremierBlog) April 20, 2010 Sorry people, it's true. Guru passed away yesterdag, R.I.P. my G. — DJ Premier Blog News (@DJPremierBlog) April 20, 2010 RIP Guru! Hip-Hop lost an icon today-but u'll always be w/ us b/c Legends live on 4ever .- Puffy Sorry people, it's true. Guru passed away yesterdag, R.I.P. my G. .- Primo Guru's last statement (some believe it is Solar who wrote it): While in hospital with terminal cancer, Guru wrote a letter, which was provided by Solar, to his fans addressing his illness, his shining music career, his family and loved ones. “I, Guru, am writing this letter to my fans, friends and loved ones around the world. I have had a long battle with cancer and have succumbed to the disease. I have suffered with this illness for over a year. I have exhausted all medical options. I have a non-profit organization called Each One Counts dedicated to carrying on my charitable work on behalf of abused and disadvantaged children from around the world and also to educate and research a cure for this terrible disease that took my life. I write this with tears in my eyes, not of sorrow but of joy for what a wonderful life I have enjoyed and how many great people I have had the pleasure of meeting,” read the official Guru statement. “My loyal best friend, partner and brother, Solar, has been at my side through it all and has been made my health proxy by myself on all matters relating to myself. He has been with me by my side on my many hospital stays, operations, doctors visits and stayed with me at my home and cared for me when I could not care for myself. Solar and his family is my family and I love them dearly and I expect my family, friends, and fans to respect that, regardless to anybody’s feelings on the matter. It is my wish that counts. This being said I am survived by the love of my life, my sun KC, who I trust will be looked after by Solar and his family as their own. Any awards or tributes should be accepted, organized approved by Solar on behalf myself and my son until he is of age to except on his own.” --- It might not be true, but it looks like it is. If it is: R.I.P. to one of Hip Hop greatest MCs. Puffy said it best: RIP Guru! Hip-Hop lost an icon today-but u'll always be w/ us b/c Legends live on 4ever
  4. "I got Summer hating on me ‘cause I’m hotter than the sun, got Spring hating on me ‘cause I ain’t never sprung, Winter hating on me ‘cause I’m colder than y’all, and I would never; I would never; I would never Fall. I’m being hated by the seasons, so **** y’all hating for no reason." :bump2:
  5. guys, listen to this, this is the truth http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8EBGQl9T0kA AJ, I dont know if it's the case here, but it's quite normal that they use a diffrent label overseas, cause the original label might not be located in that country too.
  6. Dont forget how many artists Puffy made big. Suddenly all of them left because they thought he was holding them down.. Were are trhey now?
  7. I gotta be honest, I own every Eric B. & Rakim Albun, yet I doubt I'd recoginze him :boggled:
  8. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xLX-Yjz1FeY&feature=player_embedded chamillionaire is killing it, dude is so underrated
  9. For real man, looking at all those new talents that came out the last few years and months I refuse to believe that Hip Hop is doing bad, some of them are even releasing succesfull records and get airplay. Wale, Lupe, Fashawn, Joel, Skyzoo, Torae, Papoose, Jay Electronica, Curenssy, Maino, Saigon, Termanology, Reks, Diamond District and all those other guys are killin' it out there and some of us dont give them enough credit or attention. If nobody supports these guys and their ish, Hip Hop is gonna die 'cause the vets aint gonna be around forever.
  10. It is, I skip it, it's not only Peedie, Jeff messed that Beat up too, it's just noise now
  11. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qo7o3afVOhk&feature=related Cassidy Ft Jag - Exhibit C (Freestyle) (HQ) (New 2010) Cas' is still the truth http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qV7LJoaHu24&feature=related Saigon - Exhibit Sai (Exhibit C Remix) Joell Ortiz - Exhibit C Freestyle http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S8YZkr0tIbU&feature=related Twista - Exhibit T It's crazy how many people ripped this beat, Hip Hop aint dead
  12. DJ Kay Slay - Thug Love ft Ray-J, Maino, Papoose & Red Cafe [New/2010/Official Music Video] I'm thinking I gotta get that Kay Slay Album
  13. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e4UsxWugAek Ty - Emotions
  14. I think we both have some truth in what we say. I guess it's a viscious circle.
  15. Yeah good music, but not raw Hip Hop (ofcourse not all of them, just sayin' the average one). That's why they also like Jay-Z's Empire State Of Mind, LL's Baby or Switch. You cant compare the early 90's or the 80's with today, because Platinum realy wasnt that much back then, Rakim wasn't the succesfull one, Vanilla Ice was. Whne it comes to the majroity of people, it's about a somehow melodic/club beat, not to complicated lyrics and a catchy hook. It is how it is.
  16. I would like to believe that, but it's not true. The biggest target group for the radio are girls and women, and they mostlt dont wanna hear Rakim, they wanna hear some dumbed down bubblegum rap song with melody. They also for example play LL's Baby, it's all about the hook and the pop beat.
  17. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jc09HB7nEbA Jay Electronica - Exhibit C Who said Hip Hop is dead?
  18. Found it, AJ: http://www.discogs.com/sell/list?release_id=326443&ev=rb
  19. Thats LL Track is great, never heard off it, I need to get that LP
  20. He wasn't that good when it came to running Def Jam, but he made some good bussines moves with signing Rihanna and Young Jeezy, and he even made some true school moves with signing The Roots and Nas. All in all I'd say he had his moments, but he wasn't that good of a CEO, especaly when it came to promoting some artists. I however do not think that Reid is doing a better job right now, because unlike Jay-Z he is doing one stupid move after another (just sayin', 6figure deal with Shyne?? and who are all those no name south acts and female singers on def jam that never release any records?). He probably is the most overrated CEO in the music industry right now
