  1. Yeah, I feel the same way. I used to exclusively listen to harder gangsta rap when younger...although I couldn't relate on any level...It was fun to imagine myself in the situation. But as I grew older I felt like I wanted more music which I could relate to...so I picked up a taste for people who more accurately potrayed my personality (most of the time at least)...like A Tribe Called Quest,Will,Lupe Fiasco,Kanye, Kweli,Mos etc...I often pick up something if the subject matter is something I can't relate to if it shows good MC skills or good geats...like Jigga, BIG, Some tracks from Puffy's new album,Snoop,Tupac,Wu-Tang,Dr,Dre,Cube etc. So if don't listen to a lot of mc's who will talk about living their life but the stuff I put on heavy rotation is stuff I can relate to.
  2. I heard this yesterday... it was as good as I expected it to be.
  3. Yeah I was kinda pissed when MTV called him the No.1 rapper of all time.
  4. :iagree: But the new album really dosen't showcase all the above mentioned that well...except for a couple of tracks. I've always been a Jay fan but I just wasn't feeling this one so no hate on his skill... (notice how I completely kept off the Def Jam situation)
  5. Dude!!! Noooooooooo. She will totally break your heart. Ah, female emcees. You should check out the song "Crooklyn Dodgers 3" with her, Mos Def, & Memphis Bleek on myspace (or somewhere) if you haven't already. Yeah I have it...I think it's awesome! Jay-Z - Public Service Announcement (Mick Boogie Remix) Something about this track get's me hyped! "Allow me to reintroduce myself!"
  6. I checked out Snoop's album...dude's elevated his game by quite a few levels. It is far ahead of his usual effortless A,B,C rhyming I heard from him...before this album. It's a lot more positive ...I'm getting this one when it comes out.
  7. Masta Ace feat Jean Grae - Hold You I think I'm falling in love with Jean Grae...
  8. Well I checked it and I'm honestly dissapointed...none of the beats are really that great except "Show me Watcha Got","30 sumtin'" and "trouble"...Dre's stepped his game up a little. Lyrically Jigga's finer moments are when he talk about the Katrina situation, growing up and the stories on "Lost Ones" stand out conceptually. It's more on the grown up mature tip so you could say it's lke the Black Album. It's kinda nice but I'm dissapointed because the production, lyrics and concepts in "The Black Album" were far superior (it's also one of my all time faves so it is unfair to compare).I'd give the album a B.
  9. I posted this before...but for some reason everyone ignored it back then except Julie.
  10. C.L Smooth - C.L Smooth Unplugged One word...wow!
  11. :lolsign:  U really kill those Jay-z/Kanye punchlines...
  12. Man Concept killed the last freestyle...so my vote goes to him.
  13. C.L Smooths album's dope! But I can't say I'm sorry for Flave...I mean he's my dude and everything but that album was painfull...I downloaded...listened and deleted.
  14. That whole album was amazing - animal planet,fame...etc had me like :mygod: .
  15. Just got this! This was great but unlike volume two this time around I was famliar with most of the joints...
