JumpinJack AJ
"How am I gonna re-sign with competition? I'm not an idiot. I can't depend on that man to promote my record while he's somewhere writing rhymes. I'm L.L. Cool J." -- LL Cool J on Why He Won't Renew His Contract With Def Jam if Jay-Z Is Still in Charge Rate This Quote 67% Thumbs Up 37,273 20% Thumbs Down 11,352 13% I'm Not Sure 7,245 Total votes: 55,870 ------------------------------------------ I like how he called Jay-Z out. Jay-Z had some edge back in 1996, but since then, he's just dropped a decent single here and there. I view him as an savy business man who is egotistically self-obsorbed and way overrated. I think him running Def Jam is still a joke and it's gotta be embarassing that LL Cool J, the cornerstone of Def Jam is leaving. It just dosen't seem right...but it seems much more right than anyone other than Russell Simmons running Def Jam. Under the quote is the results from people voting on their point of view. I'm surprised so many people have sided with LL since they are so many commercial rap fans out there supporting Jay-Z
rcpbball30
I remember hearing this a couple of months ago, and what LL is saying makes perfect sense, so I believe he will get more support than people expect.
DevilsJim89
Yeah, this is news from around October I believe. LL Cool J is probably my second favorite rapper followed by Jay-Z. I see where LL is going with this - hes smart. I love Jigga, I think he's highly skilled and hes got tons of great lines/great tracks. Pretty much each of his albums are real hot. However, I dont think he should run Def Jam. Let him run Roc-a-fella but not Def Jam. Thats the only reason why his albums go platinum, cause he does what he wants as president of Def Jam. I think Russell should've passed the torch to someone other than an active rapper in the game. I hope LL and Jay-Z have a battle. LL supposibly already killed Jay-Z in a freestyle battle in NYC back in the early 90s I believe. This could help spark LL's sales as well. Should be interesting. JumpinJack AJ
I know about LL's comment months ago, i thought this waz a new comment tho.' If anyone knows if recycled from months ago. It kinda surprises me that this new LL album hasn't taken on much of a form yet. Maybe he's having second thoughts about working with current commerical rappers. Maybe Jay-Z isn't paying any attention 2 the album.
