MissAshley Posted June 20, 2007 Report Share Posted June 20, 2007 (edited) Tonight, He Gets Retitled Will Smith superhero pic renamed. by Stax June 20, 2007 - IGN has confirmed that Will Smith's forthcoming superhero-themed movie Tonight, He Comes has been retitled John Hancock. And, no, it's not about the Founding Father with the big signature or the insurance company that bears his name. Smith stars opposite Charlize Theron and Jason Bateman in the Peter Berg-directed action-drama. Michael Mann is producing the film via his Forward Pass production shingle along with Smith's Overbrook Entertainment. The screenplay was penned by Vincent Ngo, Vince Gilligan and Oscar winner Akiva Goldsman. John Hancock reportedly follows a down-and-out superhero (Smith) with a bad image who gets aid from a corporate public relations consultant (Bateman). Theron plays Bateman's wife. They need to come up with an original name, something with class and something that doesn't remind you of porn. And what's with akiva goldsman, hope he doesn't get a major part. I actually was thinking "Tonight, He Comes" is way easier to spin into a porn title. I like the Tonight name better though. More of a superhero rising vibe to it. Like in Unbreakable. I'm with you on the Akiva thing. A lot of people think he's a hack. He did I Am Legend though, so I'm hoping for the best. God Blessa! Once you got over the whole "porn" thing, the "Tonight, He Comes" title has a nice mysterious nature. Although having a title like "Tonight, He Comes" and a character named John HanCOCK would have been too much so they had to change it;) "John Hancock" is good because it kinda reminds me of something like "Wyatt Earp". Plus remember it's a superhero film and every superhero comic's/film's title or at least most of them is the superhero's name. The superhero in this one probably won't have an alter ego like Kent, Parker or Wayne and will only go by the name John Hancock. I would wanna know when are they gonna start shooting??
