Admin Hero1 Posted November 2, 2007 Admin Report Share Posted November 2, 2007 As of September 26, Jazzy Jeff's The Return of The Magnificent has sold 16, 815 copies in the US.. I think The Magnificent sold at least 30, 000 in the US. Cd Sales are right down from back in 2002. For an independent release 10, 000 copies is a solid effort. Considering there is no promotion from BBE and no radio rotations or music video play its still a pretty good result. This albums so good and has such a great lineup of artists on it I'm still kinda disappointed. here is the latest soundscan numners for indie hip hop releasers Artist | Album | US Sales | Release Date 9th/Buckshot Chemistry 25,348 7/12/2005 Aesop Rock Fast Cars..EP 40,375 2/22/2005 Alchemist 1st Infantry 174,661 6/29/04 AOTP Torture Papers 22,199 9/20/05 Atmosphere You Can't Imagine... 120,458 10/4/2005 Black Market Militia Black Market Militia 5,341 3/22/05 Black Milk Popular Demand 7,524 2/13/07 Blue Sky Black Death Holocaust 3,164 9/5/05 Bronze Nazareth Great Migration 7,680 4/18/06 Brother Ali Undisputed Truth 39,038 4/10/07 Camp Lo Black Hollywood 2,305 7/24/07 Canibus For Whom the Beat Tolls 2,741 5/8/07 Cilvaringz I 3,787 3/27/07 Dangerdoom Mouse and Mask 159,431 10/11/2005 Dilla Ruff Draft 29,191 3/6/07 DJ Jazzy Jeff Return of the Magnificent 16,815 4/17/07 El-P Ill Sleep When Youre Dead 36,293 3/20/07 Evidence Weatherman 12,326 3/20/07 Ghostface Fishscale 320,416 3/28/06 Guru Jazzamatazz 10,092 7/17/07 Havoc Kush 3,934 9/19/07 Hell Razah Ren. JumpinJack AJ
Not bad. If JJ+FP would tour, it be interesting 2 see how much further L+F would go...and especially The Return...
TopDawg14
I thought Jeff sold more but it's cool. I'd rather have creativity and control over the music I make than be a yes-man for some label just so you can sell some records. I'm just waiting for the day when artists give the industry/record labels the finger and do it themselves. You don't need much to make an album and promote it these days with the technology we have today.
VIsqo
Lets hope they tour. If they had toured when he made the cd, the profits would have beeen bigger.
