Guest lambertj3 Posted August 26, 2004 Report Share Posted August 26, 2004 The New York Daily News hears Kanye West charged the Ebenezer AME Church in Fort Washington, Maryland, a whopping $30,000 to perform his pseudo-gospel single 'Jesus Walks' at a gathering there Friday. But, almost three hours late, the rapper showed up without a deejay, backup singers or dancers. West performed an abbreviated version of 'All Falls Down' before doing 'Jesus Walk' and exiting. I don't understand some of these entertainers that have so much talent (and who i may even admire), that don't even realize just how much they would impact on ppl by giving $30,000 for the cause of helping ppl come to know God, versus charging for their 'presence' for a minute or 2... Some ppl don't realize that without a higher power, they would not have gotten to where they are... or just forgot where the he!! their tails came from... Church is one of the few places that you shouldn't charged for a performance! Its like your charging people to get saved and hear a word from God! Its not right! Kanye is such a talent and one of the leading guys in the game right now! This isn't gonna go down good for him! Churchs aren't exactly the richest organizations in the world. He should have done it for free. It's not like there were thousands of of audience members. Let's be real, he may be succesful right now, but he's not that big that he can be pullin' crap like that without suffering.
