Regional Medical Center spokeswoman Kathy Stringer said Freeman, 71, is in serious condition. The hospital is about 90 miles north of the accident scene in rural Tallahatchie County in the Mississippi Delta. Mississippi Highway Patrol spokesman Sgt. Ale Posted August 5, 2008 Report Share Posted August 5, 2008 (edited) Freeman in ‘good spirits’ after crash OSCAR-winning actor Morgan Freeman was in “good spirits” and confident of making a full recovery after a car crash left him with multiple broken bones, his spokesman said yesterday. The 71-year-old star, who was due to start filming his role as Nelson Mandela next year in The Human Factor, a film about South Africa during the 1994 Rugby World Cup , is being treated in a hospital in Memphis following the single-vehicle accident on Sunday night in Mississippi. The spokesman said Freeman had suffered a “broken arm and elbow, and minor shoulder damage” but was talking and in “good spirits”. “He’s having a little bit of surgery this afternoon or tomorrow to help correct the damage,” she said. “He says he’s looking forward to a full recovery.” Freeman, a star of Batman blockbuster The Dark Knight, was hospitalised after the car he was driving went off the road and rolled several times. The condition of a woman passenger travelling with the actor is unknown.
