Chris Rock's New HBO Special, 'Kill The Messenger,' Premieres Sept. 27

Chris RockNext Saturday night HBO will be presenting a new special, his first in five years, "Chris Rock: Kill The Messenger." The show will be a compilation of performances from his tours in London, South Africa, and New York. The special premieres on Saturday, Sept. 27 at 9 p.m.

Throughout the years, three-time Emmy Award-winner Chris Rock has proved to be funny, insightful, original and fearless in addressing such hot-topic issues as race relations, poverty, parenthood and politics. Rock has been named one of Time Magazine's "100 Most Influential People in the World" and has been described as "probably the funniest and smartest comedian working today" by The New York Times.

"Chris Rock: Kill the Messenger", will feature exclusive footage of three different international performances of Rock's tour including South Africa's Carnival City Casino, New York's legendary Apollo Theater and the Carling Apollo Hammersmith in London.

I saw it and honestly I thought it would be a lot funnier than it was, seems like he laughed more than the audiences. Which is disappointing b/c I've loved all his past shows, but the bucket list thing was funny. I didn't appreciate his Obama/ First Lady joke (probably b/c I'm black and female), even though it was old and i'd heard it before. I'm not sure he meant it as a joke or if it's something he really thinks, and tries to put a funny spin on.
