Sandy
I was expecting this after reading one of the interviews Ale posted. I think the Oscar is going to be for Brad Pitt. Will will get an Oscar when he has the oportunity to be in a movie with other great actors (like for example , The Departed,). Will's ego must be a little hurt today ;-)
MissAshley
I saw this earlier, while not necessarily an indication of Oscar noms, the Golden Globes are usually looked at that way. To be honest I haven't heard as much "buzz" about SP as I have about some of these other films/performances. I wouldn't count him out though, you never know. Typhoon20
No offense but usually when you have a good all-around movie you're more likely to be nominated. Brad Pitt's movie is excellent, perhaps the best movie of the year. Which automatically makes Pitt a lock. Will, I mean no matter how good his performance, he'll never win an oscar as long as the movie doesn't hold up to those standards. I haven't seen SP yet so it might be one of the best movies of the year. Though I don't believe that's going to happen, for quite some time, if ever. I don't see SP getting a great overall score, it'll be at around 60%. I'll be seeing it soon just to support FP but I'm not holding my breath. Not for the movie, just for Wills recent choice of movies. Here's hoping Will starts to pick his projects a little bit better.
Guest Guest_viber91_*
I don't really think Seven Pounds will be a "great" movie, but I'm hoping for better than Hancock anyway... I think it will be quite good, but as Typhoon20 says, prob. about 60% on RT... One of the reasons I think that SP isn't in the nominations is because so few have seen it... TCCOBB has been screened for about 1 1/2 month, while SP have been screened for about 3 weeks... I'm not going to compare the two, because one of them is more like an epic Forrest Gump story, and the other is more of a low budget independent movie, but it has a big movie stare starring in the lead role... Most of the reviews have said that ...Benjamin Button is "good but not great", and therefore it might not be in the "best picture" nom, but I think it has a much stronger chanse at getting awards than Seven Pounds... Admin Hero1 Posted December 11, 2008 Admin Report Share Posted December 11, 2008 I expect those nominees for best actor will be pretty similar for the Oscars.. brad pitt and sean penn will be a lock for sure
TopDawg14
I expect those nominees for best actor will be pretty similar for the Oscars.. brad pitt and sean penn will be a lock for sure I think Mickey Rourke will be the sentimental favorite. I'm not surprised that Will wasn't nominated. This is an especially strong year for acting performances. Most of the internet sites & movie pundits who pick nominees for various awards have Will's performance around 9th or 10th for actors. That pretty much means that it's a good performance but not award worthy performance.
