Hollywood star Will Smith visits BILD in Berlin

BILD's Brigitte Tomalik was allowed to squeeze Will Smith's ears! Her verdict? "cuddly".

Hollywood star Will Smith took time out from promoting his new film 'Seven Lives' to pay a visit to the Axel Springer headquarters in Berlin to talk to BILD - and was a massive hit!

Dressed smartly in a tie, suit trousers, a sweater and a jacket, he toured the offices and chatted to staff.

His first stop was to talk to BILD Editor-in-Chief Kai Diekmann, who greeted the star with the words: “We have something in common: You are the biggest film star in the world and we are the biggest newspaper in Europe.”

Will, star of blockbusters such as 'Independence Day' and 'I Am Legend', then moved on to the BILD production room, where he was met with applause.

He was shown a BILD headline from July, when America's new leader visited the German capital: “President Obama with BILD reporter in a Berlin gym”

“Black men with big ears are a hit with you guys in Germany,” he exclaimed.

BILD Deputy Editor Joerg Quoos then asked: "When will you be playing Obama on the big screen?"

Will replied: “In eight years – or I will run for Presidency.”

BILD's sports editor, Matthias Bruegelmann, said: "Mr. ‘Wihelm Schmidt’, do you still remember your hit lyrics? It is cold outside – can you give us some ‘Summertime’?

The one-time rapper began to drum on the table, tap his feet and sang into the mic…

BILD journalist Tanit Koch asked: "What is the secret to a happy marriage?"

Will: "I love your boots! We take our marriage very seriously. How many hours do we invest into our careers? And how many into our marriage? Our recipe is, don’t say you didn’t do something, when you did, and don’t say you did do something, when you didn’t."

BILD Deputy Editor Michael Paustian: "What is your secret for being cool and getting the ladies?"

Will: "Women love big ears – like Mickey Mouse and Goofy. Look!"

He jumped up and wiggled his ears, which have diamond studs in.

His greatest adventure:

The actor then chatted to Mathias Doepfner, chief executive of Axel Springer, about Obama, the Berlin Wall and his hopes for America. He admired the panoramic view of snowy Berlin from the 19th floor of the Axel Springer offices, and asked a question common to visitors: “Where was the wall?”

Friendly film star Will Smith then shook everyone’s hands before he left in his limo to head to the premiere of his new film, ‘Seven Lives’. The actor said it was “the hardest and darkest role I have ever played”.
