Will Smith named as actor who should retire

In light of Joaquin Phoenix's (dubious) retirement from acting, MSN Movies has an article listing 10 other actors it thinks should also throw in the towel when it comes to acting. Will Smith is #3 on that list. From the article:

This is more along the lines of a personal favor. I liked DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince a lot, and though I never saw the TV show, I have been disappointed in every step of Smith's career since. Yes, he is the biggest movie star in the world. Yes, his movies make more money than anyone else's. But that doesn't make them, or him, good. From his cop-out performance in "Six Degrees of Separation" to his Eddie Murphy-copping star turns in "Men in Black" and "Bad Boys." It bummed me out when he got serious as "Ali" (though he deserves some credit for attempting the impossible), and bummed me out even more that he stayed serious in "The Legend of Bagger Vance," "The Pursuit of Happyness" and "Seven Pounds." His action hero movies ("I, Robot," "I Am Legend," "Hancock") all suck, but no film sucks as hard as "Independence Day." Except maybe "Bad Boys II," or "Wild Wild West" or "Hitch." And yet, in spite of everything, some part of me tends to give Smith, who is obviously talented and charismatic, the benefit of the doubt. I humbly request his retirement, so he can go out on top, and so I can be spared the experience of seeing any more of his lousy films.

What a clown. If you don't want to experience his ''lousy'' films then stop watching them.

He didn't watch FPOBA (wow) and he hates Will Smith doing serious movies ? And also hates when he picks any other (sci-fi,action,comedy etc.) role ?

Either he's highly unintelligent or he's just looking for some attention.

Ha ha, obviously this has caused some negative reaction from a site/forum of Will Smith fans! :ohdear:

Honestly... this isn't really a "Will Smith fan" thing... if you put this question to the general public in the form of a poll, the vast majority of people would vote that he not retire, and would likely wonder what reason there would be for him to retire in the first place. If you put the same poll to people world wide, even a larger percentage of people would vote against retirement... If you put a poll to the executives at the big movie companies, not a single one of them would vote for retirement... If you put this question to other movie actors in the industry, the only ones who would vote for retirement are those who are in direct competition with Will for roles.

Suffice to say, not just Will Smith fans, but the vast majority of those on the planet who have heard of Will Smith and have seen his work would think it was asinine for him to retire.

Well, I think nobody else wants Will to retire, hw even said he is in his best decade starting now.. So, I think if he makes a thriller like Enemy of the State or something like Bad boys he will go back tio the top in no time, and then he can worry again about his Oscar.. Besides, Denzel won it for Training day and it was an enjoyable movie, not like 7 pounds...
