Joking, it was just an accident. My bad. This movie looks A-W-E-S-O-M-E, IMO.

Ale
'Avatar' is No. 2 all-time worldwide grosser Surpasses 'Return of the King's' $1.12 billion tally By Carl DiOrio Jan 7, 2010, 12:54 PM ET "Avatar" continues to outperform expectations. Just days ago, execs suggested the Fox-distributed pic was a lock to reach No. 2 on the all-time list of worldwide boxoffice hits by next week. Incredibly, the forecast proved too conservative. On Wednesday, "Avatar" passed the $1.12 billion tally by 2003's "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King" to become the second-highest worldwide grosser ever. James Cameron's sci-fi epic headed into Thursday with a domestic cume of $374.4 million and a foreign cume of $760.8 million, for wordwide boxoffice totaling $1.14 billion and counting. Cameron's "Titanic" is the all-time top worldwide grosser, ringing up $1.84 billion in 1997-1998. "Avatar" -- which has overachieved most dramatically overseas since unspooling mid-December -- now also is poised to hit the top 10 list of all-time top domestic grossers. On Thursday, the pic will pass No. 10 domestic grosser "Star Wars: Episode III-Revenge of the Sith," which rung up $380.3 in 2005. But by the end of the coming weekend, "Avatar" should climb significantly higher in the ranks of all-time domestic hits. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/content_display/news/e3ieb1af40f51f12663a33295bb482cf100 ----- I take my hat off to Mr. James Cameron
Jazzy Julie
This film was amazing, it was my first 3D film for starters so i was already impressed with that, but my friend had seen 3D before and she said avatar used it to the full extent. This film was like nothing ive ever seen. It doesnt surprise me its broken records, the cinema was packed and sold out.

Ale
'Avatar' passes 'Dark Knight' at box office Fox claims three of the frame's top 10 slots By ANDREW STEWART Topping the frame with an estimated weekend gross of $36 million for a cume of $552.8 million, 20th Century Fox and James Cameron's "Avatar" well surpassed Warner Bros.' "The Dark Knight" with $533.3 million to become the second highest grossing film ever at the domestic box office. Still behind "Titanic" in U.S. totals, "Avatar" made history overseas. Pic earned $107 million from 11,803 screens in 111 markets at the foreign B.O., just enough to sink the ship, making "Avatar" the all-time champ in international receipts with $1.28 billion. Cameron's "Titanic" previously held the record with $1.24 billion. "Having been a part of the 'Titanic' phenomenon, we never thought this day would come in our careers," said Fox Intl. co-prexys Paul Hanneman and Tomas Jegeus. "But James Cameron created in 'Avatar' a film with such humanity and magic that it resonates with people of every culture." Domestically, "Avatar" slipped a mere 16% in its sixth frame, earning $9.1 million on Friday, $16.5 million on Saturday, down just 5% from the same day last weekend, and an estimated $10.4 million on Sunday. Along with "Avatar," Fox claimed three of the frame's top 10 slots with "Tooth Fairy" opening to $14.5 million at 3,344 locations and "Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel" bringing in $6.5 million at 2,973 in its fifth frame. Sony's post-apocalyptic offering "Legion" performed well in its opening frame with $18.2 million at 2,476 locations, while CBS Film's inaugural pic "Extraordinary Measures" opened to a disappointing $7 million at 2,549. http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118014209.html?categoryid=13&cs=1&ref=bd_film Edited January 24, 2010 by Ale
