In the recent past, Smith’s private self-named charitable foundation had donated thousands of dollars to groups associated with Scientology. So despite Will and wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s recent appearance at a Scientology lunch in Hollywood with celebrity disciples Tom Cruise and Jenna Elfman, the couple is not giving the cultish group tax free contributions any more. last year the Smiths handed over $70,000 to Scientology groups. Will once equated the Christian bible with Scientology in an interview. That didn’t go over too well. This time, instead, the Will Smith Foundation, in papers just filed with the IRS and Guidestar.org, turned its attention elsewhere. Smith gave away about $575,475 in 2009. Another place he could have contributed money but didn’t? His New Village Academy in Calabasas, California. There’s no entry for it. New Village, which has yet to file its own first Form 990 with the IRS, still advertises Scientology teaching on its curriculum list. The Smiths did some interesting things with their money. A lot of it went to Christian ministries and teaching, including $12,800 to a group called Daughters of Power, in Beverly Hills. It’s an organization that does sort of Christian finishing for teenage girls. The couple also gave $10,000 to the Harvard Foundation–maybe they’re laying the ground work to send little Jaden or Willow, their movie star children. The biggest amounts went to Baltimore School for the Arts Foundation ($200,000); City of Refuge in Los Angeles ($150.000). Will also continues to send money to the Muhammad Ali Museum in Louisville. That’s a nice touch since he played Ali in the great Michael Mann film. --------------------------------------------------------------- hopefully this will slow down the "is Will a Scientologist?" rumors and put those to rest

Members shaula
lmao i love how a meeting about a movie has turned into a scientology lunch just bcoz Tom Cruise was there. yeah-some of the media didn't even do their research before hand and reported it that way. Some back tracked later on though so they looked like idiots. What was even more sad was they falsely claimed Tom Skerritt and Tate Donovan were Scientologists to try and further their point, but they're not in any way connected to them

JumpinJack AJ
He's said before he's not a scientologist . I don't find this a surprise. But it's easy 2 see where they are gonna pull the scientologist card with Tom Cruise being involved. Tom Cruise has made himself the poster boy for scientology. He shamelessly promotes the man-made religion, acts like and idiot from time to time, and has become very annoying in interviews. 10 years ago most females considered him the hottest guy alive and we all know how the media likes to tear down famous people. Tom makes it pretty easy. I admire that FP stands by his people...but at the same time, he needs 2 make the right decisions when dealing with him career-wise. Hey, we're all fans here... a little rude much? why don't you "get a life"? I would agree it's nobody's business if his past taxes weren't already out there causing so much ugly speculation that he doesn't deserve. This will like I said, hopefully put down the rumors that he isn't a Scientologist. I personally have no qualms about religious beliefs. However, I would hate to see someone as successful and good natured like WIll and his family shot down by the press and wackos out there like Anonymous with rumors that could hurt someone's career (ala Tom Cruise)

Exactly-I agree completely, and I still kinda like Tom Cruise lol. If we want to see Will's career go down like Tom's, with people like Howard Stern already going at him, then there doesn't have to be any proof that he's not actively giving donations. It doesn't hurt to have this kind of info to counter some of the rumors IMO
