VIsqo
Lauryn Hill Close to Releasing New Album Get excited. Get very excited. Lauryn Hill is readying her new, yet-to-be-titled album for a release soon. There's not a lot of specifics right now, but L'Boogie told MTV News that she's getting closer to finishing the LP. The only thing that seems certain for now is that she doesn't plan on doing many, if any, collaborations on her new album. "I have respect for what people do," Hill said. "I also like to hear the eclectics, I like to hear the mixture. There's a lot of different creative energies out there right now. I respect the different sounds that I'm hearing. It's been such a long time since I've gotten my voice and my ideas [out]. In terms of collaborations, that's not even something I've been thinking about per se. I'm happy that people are still making music. That we still have a platform with which to make music. It's gonna be interesting to see what the future holds." C'mon, Lauryn, just say what you really think: 90% of new music sucks lemon balls. Rap.about.com lol, I love Lauryn. I hope she comes back hard! Silver Tiger
She said her new album would be mostly singing, which is kind of disappointing to me. I'll keep an eye out though.
JumpinJack AJ
I really can't wait for this. I thought The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill was a brilliant album. One of the last to truly deserve the label "classic." After all of her growth, maturity, and overall strangeness, I don't really view her as an emcee much anymore. More like a Hip-Hip artist who's and R-N-B singer (see Mary J. Blige). I hope she didn't go off of the deep end musically. I wanna hear her come back down to earth and change the face of music again. JumpinJack AJ
Seeing this article again is getting me pretty excited. Thing back to The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. Thing back on how that effected ALL MUSIC. Lauryn Hill only brings out well thought out lyrics and subject matter. And she's only ever excepted solid, legit production for her sound. This album very well could an album that saves music...especially Hip-Hop and R-N-B. Let's face it, the mainstream side of the music is dead. There's barely any talent out there and a lot of the talent that still exists is dumbing it down for the idiots who like Top 40 radio. I expect this album to start a revolution. It could be the 1st classic album to be released in YEARS.
bigted
I thought Lauryn Hill was great with the Fugees and her Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill was great too but emotionally since that time she hasn't been the same, I think it's gonna be quite a stretch to say that after all that time that she could put out an album that could save hip hop.... Turntable
I'm realy hoping she's gonna make another masterpiece, but I'm guessing it is gonna be like this: 12 tracks (40 minutes of playtime), 3 or 2 of them beeing incredible, 4 of them beeing good, 2 beeing average andf the rest fillers with semi-crappy production. And I bet that there either will be Akon or Lil Wayne on there It's always like that. But I hope I'm wrong. Da Brakes
I hope your wrong as well... I want this to be her defining album... Even better than Miseducation
Turntable
Think that is possible? The production of the album was flawless, she'd have to work with very, very good producers only for her to make something like that again (I could see her doing soemthing with Kanye for example, among others). Next to that, the way she combined her singing with her rapping was briliant. Maybe you are right, but I think nobody can top Miseducation, it's gotta be one of the best albums I ever heard. Da Brakes
I would agree! I'm just being optimistic! She's had more than enough time to get her act together. Let's hope she makes the right decisions when making this album and doesn't mess with the formula too much
fresh_from_sofia
she is making progres from that and now she makes sense but another Miseducation from her , nahhh ,that's sounds way too optimistic , i want it ,but i just dont believe it for now..thats like to have another Doggystyle from Snoop or Chronic from Dre Edited January 2, 2011 by fresh_from_sofia
