The 2011 Grammy nominees were announced during the CBS Grammy Nominations Concert at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, and with so much amazing music released this past year -- not to mention monster tours -- it was as competitive as ever.

Eminem leads the pack with 10 chances at Grammy gold, Bruno Mars is hot on his tail with eight and Lady Gaga, Jay-Z and Lady Antebellum all walked away with six nominations. 2010 superstars Justin Bieber, B.o.B., Drake and Miranda Lambert got nods, but noticeably absent from the nominations list was 'Tik Tok' star Ke$ha.

Here's who I'm hoping wins....share your opinions...

Song of the Year
'Love the Way You Lie' -- Eminem Feat. Rihanna
Of the nominees, this is my fav.

Album of the Year
'Teenage Dream' -- Katy Perry
'Recovery' -- Eminem
Both were good albums. I'm riding with Katy but I think Eminem earned this time around as well.

Best New Artist
Justin Bieber
I don't really like any of the nominees. I just know this kid worked his butt off and he seems like an okay guy. I think B.o.B. should have been nominated.

Record of the Year
'Nothing on You' -- B.o.B. Feat. Bruno Mars
I think this is the most unique and creative song of the ones I liked.

Best Female Pop Vocal Performance
'King of Anything' -- Sara Bareilles
'Halo (Live)' -- Beyoncé
'Chasing Pirates' -- Norah Jones
'Teenage Dream' -- Katy Perry
I like all of these artists (I only took off Lady Gaga). I think all of them can sing. Katy ran the 2nd half of the year musically. I like the The Grammys include music that wasn't on the radio but I don't think Beyonce's "Halo" should be on there. She's had her since 2008 and it's been from her weakest music thus far. She's the best vocalist of them all. Sara Bareilles is the underdog but I love her music and that single was very creative.

Best Male Pop Vocal Performance
'Haven't Met You Yet' -- Michael Bublé
'This is It' -- Michael Jackson
'Whataya Want from Me' -- Adam Lambert
'Just the Way You Are' -- Bruno Mars
'Half of My Heart' -- John Mayer
I haven't taken anyone off the list. As a "vocal performance," I think Michael Buble and Bruno Mars should actually win. I'd love to see MJ win tho.' I don't even like Adam Lambert, but I do like that song he's nominated for.

Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals
'Airplanes, Part II' -- B.o.B., Eminem & Hayley Williams
'Telephone' -- Lady Gaga & Beyoncé
'California Gurls' -- Katy Perry & Snoop Dogg
These were the songs that I was familiar with. I like all of these collaborations but I think "California Girls" should be the winner. "Airplanes" is it's only competition (tho' I liked the version without Eminem better).

Best Pop Vocal Album
'Teenage Dream' -- Katy Perry
I'm not really into the other albums. I like John Mayer but I think Battle Studies is his weakest album. Susan Boyle has an amazing voice but I don't follow her. Katy's album isn't perfect but his loaded with different sounds and subject matter.

Best R&B Song
'Finding My Way Back' -- Jaheim
'Shine' -- John Legend & The Roots
All of the artists deserved a nomination but I'd have to go with one of these.

Best R&B Album
'The Love & War Masterpeace' -- Raheem DeVaughn
'Another Round' -- Jaheim
'Wake Up!' -- John Legend & The Roots
'Still Standing' -- Monica
I can't choose between these 4. I think I enjoyed Raheem's the least of the 4 but that's not an insult at all.

Best Contemporary R&B Album
'Graffiti' -- Chris Brown
'Untitled' -- R. Kelly
'Raymond V Raymond' -- Usher
It's a tie for these 3. They are all similar in the sense that very talented artists made these albums and that half of the songs on them are really good and the other half or effected by today's current mainstream scene. Usher's music was the most successful throughout the year tho.' But the Grammy's supposed to be strictly about the music...and only consider sales to make sure they are popular enough to be recognized.

Best Rap Song

'Nothin' On You' -- B.o.B & Bruno Mars
All of these are good. I think "Nothin' On You" barely beats them all out.

Best Rap Album

'How I Got Over' -- The Roots
I'd have to listen to them all again to choose the best. The Roots probably made the better album but Eminem's is pretty much a tie. I've listened to that one the most. It has more staying power out of the last.

In recent years I'm not really much of a fan of these award shows since most of my favorites don't get nominated or win, I did watch some of that Grammy nominations concert to see if LL would perform something but he just mc'd the show, Eminem and Katy Perry probably are more deserving to win among the nominees in the main categories, R. Kelly and Usher should dominate the r&b categories although I think Keith Sweat's album "Ridin' Solo" should've been considered, on another note I was happy to see B.O.B. get nominated 'cause he's one of the more creative new mcs out there, "Nothin' On You" is one of the best songs that came out in years... I think that Nas/Damien Marley album should've been considered for album of the year 'cause that's brilliant music, I've listened to that more than anything else this year....

I used to LOVE award shows in the 90's. During the 2000's I stopped watching them as much just because I was busy. In recent years I hadn't watched them because I didn't like a lot of popular music (at least when it came to Hip-Hop). But over the past 2 years I started making myself watch them. They aren't as exciting as they were back in the 90's (in my opinion) but they are alot better than I expect and always enjoy them. I just channel-surf when there's something I'm not interested in that's going to last more than a minute or 2...lol

I can't believe they overlooked the Black Eyed Peas after all the hit singles they had last year.

Yeah that's a surprise especially since The Black Eyed Peas were recently announced as the first hip hop act to perform at the Super Bowl since the Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction, they had a big year, but on the positive note at least Lil' Wayne ain't nominated...
