Members mumd0g
This is my first post here, so if it's in the wrong spot or whatever, let me know and I'll delete/move it. In any case: I've been looking everywhere for confirmation that there was a song called 'I think I can Beat Sugar Ray' or something similar BEFORE 'I think I can beat Mike Tyson.' I know it existed, when I saw the video for Mike Tyson, I showed my friend the cassette version I had which had Sugar Ray on it. I have tweeted Jazzy Jeff, I've emailed his website. I can't get a response. However, I did a forum search here and found this post from 2005 (screenshot attached). It's the first confirmation of any kind that I've seen that I'm not completely insane. I'm pretty sure I got '...and in this corner' from BMG back in the day and I know they sometimes had different versions of cassettes and CDs. So my questions are: 1. Can anyone confirm/deny this is true? 2. If someone has this on whatever media, can you take a picture and post it? 3. Can someone please upload the MP3 of it? If that goes against forum rules, I totally understand, but I think this is a weird slice of music history that needs folks to hear it. Thanks in advance for your help! KevTastic
That quote is just in reference to the original 1986 version of the song Girls Ain't Nothing but trouble mentioning Sugar Ray Leonard rather than Nike Tyson in the later 1988 version. As far as we know there was never a different version of I think I can beat Mike Tyson.
