JamesUK
I feel I must bring up that in a song from an his album he call's Alicia Keys a "Bitch" and a "Dyke", now come on is there really any need for that whats she done to him. I didn't like his music before this, but i had nothing against the man himself, now i couldn't have a lower opinion of him :ali:

Vipa
You know what? I hate to say it, but I'm sitting here, offended by these comments. I'm nothing of what you guys are syaing. I'm not some "white kid, who thinks it's cool" (hell, I'm not even white). I just happen to like the album. I'm sorry for listening to more, than your definition of "real Music" >_> :bang:
Admin Hero1 Posted January 21, 2005 Admin Report Share Posted January 21, 2005 i didnt say you were..i said the majority of his fans would be.. and no one has yet to disagree with me about his lack of skills :werd:
bigted
Everyone has their different opinions on what's real and what's not, I'm reading this book I got from the library called "Hip-Hop America" By Nelson George and it talks about the history of hip-hop, I know a lot about hip-hop already but I try to keep on learning more and more about the history 'cause its important to understand about the hip-hop culture, you can't just be biased to one part of hip-hop, every mc expresses themselves differently, you might like it or you might not but that's who they are. :ditto:
Guest Kristin
Once again, Nick Cannon got called out. He may not be what some people want, but he's got lots of substance on his album. People who haven't heard it wouldn't know that...which just shows how much i can respect their opinion. name the "hard-hitting" topics he talks about. Name all of them. I'm curious. Have u listened to the Game's entire album? More than once? Every song fully with a real sitdown? U haven't heard it thoroughly so would u know that? I can't respect your opinion either. Guest Guest
i didnt say you were..i said the majority of his fans would be.. and no one has yet to disagree with me about his lack of skills :werd: uh... 70% of rap consumers are white. Tell me some popular rappers out there that doesn't have a majority of white fans. I'm not talkin about Talib, Teh 9ne or crooked I. I mean popular rappers like Pac, Dr. Dre, Biggie, etc. The Game's got more skills than Nick Cannon lol...
JumpinJack AJ
I know what Tim is saying, and i agree with him. I'm white, i have been all my life. But skin color has nothing 2 do with where u come from, what your tastes are, or anything like that. But lets be real. When it comes 2 mainstream and commercial Hip-Hop/Rap, it tends 2 be young white kids from the suburbs. It's fact...nothing 4 anyone 2 get offended about. They don't know what real Hip-Hop is cuz they've never been exposed 2 it. They also don't know how street life really is. I waz blessed 2 grow up in both an upperclass enviornment and a very hood upbringing. I wouldn't have it any other way cuz there is bits and peices of each lifestyle that made me who i am 2day. When some 12 year old kid hears their favorite rapper say somethings, they don't know that street life isn't always or exactly that way. They also don't know that their "hero" is a money-grubbing phoney. When i look at my friends, who are of all ages and all backgrounds, the only ones that buy Eminem's album are people who have no knowledge of real Hip-Hop music and they aren't exclusively Hip-Hop fans....they like everything on the radio. I work at the mall, and when i stand up in the front of the store and people-watch, i only see white kids between the ages of 10 and 15 waring G-Unit clothing. I shake my head and laff at them, cuz Lord knows that if they stepped in2 the REAL streets, they'd be scared 2 death. The people who put the majority of commerical rap artists on the top of the charts are young white kids with no real knowlege of the streets or real Hip-Hop music. That's the way it's been since the mid/late 90's. If u are offended by what i'm saying, then u simply don't understand me, or i'm calling u out cuz u trying 2 be something u are not. p.s. yes, that 2nd sentence in this post is a joke. fan 4ever
It's true what you're saying AJ, commerical hip hop is bought by young white kids...we can't front on that! How do you think that Will went so many time platnium for Big Willie Style?? I'm white and i know what i'm talking about! But you ain't gonna tell that rap cats like Run DMC, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Common...is only bought by black people...Hell, i'm white as snow and i own all Talib Kweli album and some Run DMC and common! I don't think race has anything to do with it! Rap is big because white people buy it, true, but it ain't only the white people that buy it! bigted
Hip-hop has a globabl and diverse fan base, mainstream/underground/gangsta/gospel/or whatever other category rappers get put in all different kinds of people listen to them. btw, I'd say that Nick Cannon does have more talent than The Game does, he's a funny guy, I might not like be into all of his songs but I'll admit that he does have some skills, Will would even tell u so, but then again The Game works with Dr. Dre, but that doesn't mean I have to listen to every cat that's down with FP and Dr.Dre, I have my own preferences, if you put Dr. Dre, FP, KRS-ONE, LL, and Rakim all in the same room at the same time to discuss hip-hop they'd all have different opinions about how hip-hop is right now but they're all in the same game. Admin Hero1 Posted January 21, 2005 Admin Report Share Posted January 21, 2005 i was responding to lambert who said he isnt glorifying violence etc hes just telling it how it is.. my point was a lot of people who dont grow up in the same lifestyle love all this **** about death guns violence etc etc..which frankly i dont get.. you got all these kids lovin the fact that 50 cent has been shot up.. 2pac sold 6 million albums when he was alive..30 million when he was dead.. one of my favorite lines is from a rapper called murs who says "the other day i saw this kid wearing a t shirt that said murder but never been to a funeral" i mean the record companies are completely exploiting these artists and getting record sales from their past..and kids are loving it.. there is something wrong with that..people need to wake the **** up and stop beeing spood fed and dictated by the cashola payola radio emptyvee etc..theirs better music out there if you are prepared to look for it.. if you think the game is the hottest rapper out there good luck 2 you and enjoy peace out
JumpinJack AJ
I listened 2 the album 2day. I think about 5 of the trax had nice beats. But they aren't really that incredible. U can find better work on Talib Kweli's album. His lyrics are boring, stupid, and pointless 4 the most part. 1 of the songs had lyrics i really liked...but then he said something stupid and it made me skip 2 the next track. When it comes 2 commercial rap, u CAN judge a book by it's cover.
bigted
It seems that you have to be in a gang and shot to get on a major label, it shouldn't be like that, it's not setting a good example for the youth, 'cause they think that if they go in a gang they'll go platinum like 50 Cent and Jay-Z. :nhawong: This song "2nd Quarter: Free Throws" by KRS-ONE explains why things are the way they are: "These are poems circulating throughout the nation everybody's bad and everybody's tough but how many people are intelligent enough to open up their eyes and see through the lies discipline themselves, yourself to stay alive? not many That's why the universe sent me today on this stage with this to to say the rich will get richer and the poor will get poorer and in the final hour many heads will lose power what does the rich versus the poor really mean? psychologically it means you got to pick your team when someone says the rich gets richer visualize wealth and put yourselves in the picture the rich get richer, cause they work towards rich the poor get poorer, cause their minds can't switch from the ghetto let go, it's not a novelty you could love your neighborhood without loving poverty follow me, every mother, father, son, daughter there's no reason to fear the New World Order we must order the whole new world to pay us the New World Order and the old state chaos the Big Brother watching over you, is a lie you see Hip-Hop could build it's own secret society but first you and I got to unify stop the negativity and control our creativity the rich is getting richer, so why we ain't richer? could it be we still thinking like niggas? educate yourselves, make your world view bigger visualize wealth and put yourselves in the picture!" :werd: Rappers can't act like gangsters forever, KRS-ONE grew up homeless but he still keeps his music positive! Hip-hop is not going forward 'cause rappers refuse to grow up, the commercialism of hip-hop is great in one sense in it's popularity but in another it's rewarding those who follow trends now rather than those who try to set their own.
