bigted
Come on AJ, I was just trying to make a point there, I could've mentioned Madonna and Prince too even though they ain't hip-hop, but they ain't even selling as much as they did 15-20 years ago, you can't sell 10 million each album forever, record sales don't measure greatness of artists either, if that was the case 50 Cent and Britney Spears are the most talented, only one of James Brown's 40 albums have gone at least gold, but he's a musical icon, and there's a whole army of independent mcs that have almost as much talent as FP does and more talent than Nelly and Eminem do but don't see the light of day 'cause their music ain't commercialised, it's actually creative. It's really sad that alot of emcees don't get to shine in the limelight: Juice, Code Red, Thyrday, Abstract Rude, Athleti Mic League, Jean Grae, Tonedeff, Def Cut, Dom Pachino and I could go on forever. Check em out, pure hiphop. AJ: Come on! MC Hammer? That's like saying vanilla Ice is talented.
bigted
People in school would tell me that I'm talented and I'm gonna be famous but I see that as an oxymoron, you can't usually be both when most famous ain't talented or the opposite. :poke:

Anybody know the numbers on "The Magnificent"? i know the magnificent shipped 200, 000 worldwide which is pretty good for an independant album.. i dont know the figures but if i was to guess id say the magnificent sold 30, 000 in the US but you never know the distribution was pretty bad over there
Big Willie Style
200,000 worldwide isn't bad at all, in my opinion. Especially for an independent label, and even better for a DJ to sell it. That's pretty good. Thanks for the numbers. :dancingcool:
JumpinJack AJ
I love MC Hammer's stuff. I've always stood up 4 him. He opened the doors 4 every commercial emcee and rapper who came out after him. U don't gotta love him, but it's undeniable that he paved the way 4 other Hip-Hop acts 2 get proper deals and promotion. His lyrics are always positive and can't nobody touch him on the dancefloor. Yeah putting MC Hammer in the same category as Vanilla Ice is like saying Biggie is as dope as 2Pac, even 2Pac respected MC Hammer, he opened a lot of doors for commercial hip-hop and is one of the realest cats in the industry, and he won't get booed off stage like some rappers today will, he's a great performer. sonic1988
The reason that bigwillie style did so well is that they advertised it and played alot of the songs on the radio not just one song. That is why will's albums are not doing so well
TheFre$hPrince
:werd: Nobody can keep their sales up album after album, TLC sold 14 million with one album, then their last album barely hit platinum, Michael Jackson's "Thriller" sold 30 million and his last album only sold 5 million, Wyclef's "The Carnival" sold 2 million copies and his last album didn't even sell 50,000, Boyz II Men's "II" also sold 14 million like TLC and I don't think "Throwback" even sold 100,000 copies, and MC Hammer sold 10 million with "Hammer Don't Hurt 'Em" but his independant albums don't even sell 100,000 either, so I'd say if Will only sells 50,000 one day then that's a failure, put things in perspective, as fans we wanna see Will sell 20 million with this album but that ain't happening, so just chill, 'cause even Kanye, one the most popular new rappers out now only sold 2 million on his last album, which is what "He's The DJ..." sold, Will's been there and done that, he has a lot of paper and platinum plaques now anyway, he's doing this for the love. He´s The DJ... even went 3x platinum in
