cristigolo
i agree with y'all. it's almost like will doesn't care about our opinions.a single single in 5 months it's just not enough. he said he was going to put music first but until now we did not see anything.
shuga
im not sure why you guys are worrying so much! remember Big Willie Style??? he took months to release a second single after Men in Black and it became a multi platinum album, so just chill and wait for the album to become platinum... i still dont think he's gonna do as well as all those "gangsta" rappers out there, they need a gimmick, a fake face to sell, but Will doesnt, at least we know he's a better rapper than they ever will be, i dont Will cares whether or not his album will go platinum or not, he's doing his music for the fans, not the sales, he's released what is in my view, his best album, he is probably content with that... just a thought... Members Bracesup
I think not having a second music video after 5 months is derelict.. I backed up the wait till June for Party Starter.. but we're heading into August come on now..It needs to be released! ← derelict??? ← Man, I really like you. You still bring in humour in such serious posts. :lolsign: Anywho, back to the subject. I don't think any of the mixtape DJs would want to put Will Smith in their mixtape circulation except for Jazzy. I mean with all due respect to Will, it would be sort of an image letdown for them if they promoted Will in the streets. Imagine Green Lantern putting out a Will Smith mixtape. So what Will should do is probably put out official mixtapes with Jeff like 50 Cent. 50 has put out 12 G-Unit Radio mixtapes in the past 2 years. That's like madness. Next, there's like only one fan site for Will, which is this one. Whereas for 50 and Eminem, there are atleast 20 to 25 websites. So that itself is a huge setback for Will and for the people who want to check out Will's stuff in the net. Third, in this era of music industry, unless Will says a bunch of f*cks and n*ggas and puts out videos with skank whores appearing in them, there's not much of chances of hitting the multi platinum mark. Fourth, he should have released atleast 3 videos by today. But he didn't. So it shows that Will isn't much bothered about record sales because hell, he is a living legend. He is just doing this more for his happiness and to keep his core fans happy. Fifth, he has got to start a beef with a mainstream rapper and have as much verbal assault towards that rapper through TV and audio. This would guarantee him multi-plat success. :lolsign: Sixth, the album is already a success for today's standards. Seventh, I like Wes. Frenetic
In someway...I know Bigted is right... it's like f*** the sales man. But then u think about it and...what if now... he had sold a million copies...that would be a million more hearing i wish i made that or lost and found. So i also wish he brought a little effort to it...cause as it seems now... the promotion for LF is over... he ain't doing no more shows or anything. So i guess we'll get PS and Tell me why...without any promo... and they'll just fade away as flops or something cause will ain't promoting them. And then we'll have to wait another three years... or maybe forever. Cause this actually felt like a really good last album.. Cause alot of people is like: Man why should he promote, it's the music that counts... well then maybe Will would like the music and the message to come out to more people. He didn't succeed in that way with Switch. It did do good as a single, and also good to make 500k buy the album. But If he had released Partystarter and promoted it in the same way...no doubt he would be at 700,800k. Admin Hero1 Posted July 20, 2005 Admin Report Share Posted July 20, 2005 what bothers me is.. Party Starter is such a huge moment for Lost and Founds success.. Switch is already a top 10 hit.. Wills made back a lot of ground with his music career.. Switch paved the way for Party Starter perfectly.. Interscope just need to release it to radio with a Push.. and L&F's sales will go right up.. I'm not sure why they released promos of party starter to abt 10 or 15 radio stations and then done nothin for 3 weeks.. Switch is getting over 7000 spins a week why wouldnt you release it to every radio station with sum big promotion behind it straight away? I have a feeling Interscope is more behind the delay of Party Starter than Will.. I mean Wills been out their performing for months!
bigted
... I have a feeling Interscope is more behind the delay of Party Starter than Will.. I mean Wills been out their performing for months! ← :word: I blame the record company not Will, he's been busting his ass out there performing, he hasn't been just sitting back doing nothing these past few months, I was just saying as a suggestion that it'd be dope if Will released some songs on some mixtapes, he should do a mixtape with respectful mcs on it, not Mike Jones, Will doesn't have to do a mixtape though either, he doesn't even have to record anymore if he don't want to, he has 9 albums of music for us to listen to! Like Will said: "I don't follow everybody when it's time to rap!", like Braceup says he should battle somebody, he should've said:"Lost is Ja Rule and 50 Cent/Found is Lauryn Hill, found is Rakim", lol. I mean if these fake gangstas continually diss him he should just throw it back in their face before he retires, but he's humble though, his class is what makes him such a great mc. Some of us are talking like Will's on his 2nd album, even if the album flops commercial, his career ain't gonna be a failure, he's done so much already! He could retire from music and movies and live in Barbados for the rest of his life with Jada if he wanted to, lol, we should be happy that Will's alive and well and still wanting to rap, some of my other favorite hip-hop artists are either dead or putting out albums every 7 years or so, or selling only 20,000 when they release albums every year, but that doesn't mean I'm gonna diss them for that and say they fell off 'cause I think they're still legends, they might have to do other things to survive 'cause record labels drop them, Treach acts too, the FP legacy is set already, he's just doing it for the love of the game still, a lot of these fakes come and go but Will has remained, it took a lot of hard work for rappers to win Grammy's back in the day but now wack rappers win instead so I hope the state of the industry doesn't frustrate Will so much that he doesn't wanna rap anymore one day, everyone should just throw on "Lost and Found" and just chill. rcpbball30
I think he should get into a beef with some gangsta rapper, because once he tears them apart, he would really have a spike in sales. His sales probably don't matter too much to him, but he has been performing a lot the past few months, while the label has done no promotion, like Party Starter, that will really help sales. WesSyde
Seventh, I like Wes. ← oh yeah, baby :1-say-yes: i agree with the rest of y'all whole-heartedly. on the one hand i really want Will to do good, it's my natural inclination as a fan to want Will to do the best he can, to get the message out there to as many ears as he can. on the other hand, what Will may be thinking (sales don't matter that much) also rings true. Will's just doin what he's doin, makin great music, continuing the legacy. So who cares if he doesn't sell a lot because he's not a commercial mainstream rapper and he doesn't care so much about sales, but about putting out a quality record for the true fans to enjoy. that, my friends, is the dilemma. like Tim said, this may be partly Interscope's fault. i apologize to Will because i have gotten pretty upset looking at the sales and questioning Will when it may not even be his fault. he has been doing hella perfrormances to try and spread the word, so maybe he is trying his hardest to promote the album and increase sales. either way, Will is a legend and this album is definitely legendary. i just want the best for Will and the best for this album. bigted
Here's this week's sales, R.Kelly had a bad drop, not as bad as Frenetic said but still bad, he's still at #1 which shows y'all that records sales are really down, Common's almost gold, I wanna see him get his 1st platinum album even though it ain't his best album, and Will came in with 17,040, should hit 600,000 by the time "Party Starter" comes out: 1 KELLY*R.
