Members PhiL
Do you think that Will feels like a hypocrit after writting ''Parents just don't understand'' since he's a dad himself now? JumpinJack AJ
No. How on earth could he be a hypocrite cuz of that?! He wrote that song back in the 80's 2 make people happy. Would it be "keeping it real" 2 not have kids cuz of a song becuz a song he wrote as a teenager?! Come on...this topic is silly enough 2 be the offical Will Smith message board. MaxFly
Lol, I don't even know what to say. Will wrote Parents Just Don't Understand from his experience as a child... It was more about fun and jokes than anything else. You would have to explain why he would feel like he is a hypocrite.

TopDawg14
I'ma be here when all your friends won't/ But I was busy hollering "Parent's Just Don't Understand/ Now here I am with a family/ Running the lines she ran on me/ We ain't always see eye to eye/ But Ma on your principles now I rely - from "Momma Knows" No, Will is not being a hypocrite. He was just expressing his feelings when he 17. Now he's 36 and like most kids after they grow up understand that their parents were right in a lot of situations. BTW, this is post #500!!!!!!!!! :yeah:  :dope:

rcpbball30
He is not being a hypocrite, people grow and mature, as Will has. He wrote that song when he was 17, a teenager. Now he is 36, and has a family. At 17, most people probably feel as Will did then and when most people at 36 have a family, regardless of how they felt about the situation at age 17.
