Nas had been sleeping, and Jay-Z got it started and brought him back out. I don't know who "started" with who. But the account I remember is Nas at a concert sayin' "Thanks for support that real ****, not that 50 Cent." It wasn't really a beef between the 2 of them personally. It's a beef musically. J-o-e Posted August 12, 2005 Report Share Posted August 12, 2005 What happened between Jay Z and Nas was indeed the battle of "New York" You see Nas was part of one part of new york and Jay Z was from Brookleyn. Nas stated in one of his early songs that he ruled new york. But Jay Z didn't take that laying down. He responded to Nas in people's belif. The beef started on lyricial basis.
