bigted
What's up y'all I wrote this song over 3 years ago but I figure it's relevant now to what's going on with Hurricane Katrina, I might add another verse on here today about what I wish I could do to deal with this tragedy. "President 4 A Day" Written By Big Ted In the Spring of '02 Verse One: When I was growing up I wasn't too convinced That I wanted to run for president 'Cause I'm not too big on politics Most of it's propoganda that's not convinced Here's another thing that I'm linking Back to a song I wrote a couple months back 'bout voting I could see why some older folks doubt voting They start to realize that who they voted for ain't reppin' And that could get depressing I sometimes feel like doin' something But I know that politics are crooked Lying to my people, I can't do it I would look like a sell-out who's screwing And that **** will come back to me Bein' a politician is somethin' I won't do, see There could be one thing that I could try That might actually work out right I could use this rhyme To stimulate some minds In the Washington congress This rap **** that I'm doin' can show that I mean buisiness I don't have to write a letter Like Run-Dmc said, "The rap speech reaches the streets much better" If I write a rhyme that righteous now It might just convince how Chorus: I can be president 4 a day So I can represent my peeps I can be president 4 a day So I can express problems in the streets I can be president 4 a day So I can give the homeless food to eat That's why I want to be president 4 a day If I'm president 4 a day I know that I can help many ways Verse Two: I'm not asking for much The is just that I want To see how bein' a president can be tough I'm ready to sweat and get rough I have to hold down America and represent thoro From the suburban to urban burroghs The ones that don't know hip-hop never heard of me so It's not for my benefit I'm out to give the average folks credit They do a lot of work with no merit For the sake of others To live more elevated and confortable In the 'hood it's a constant struggle You don't know 'bout food for tomorrow Like Nas said, “We destroy and rebuild but we gotta have unity” Right dog, that's true indeed Rich people who were never poor can't relate to me I'm not real real poor, but I ain't gonna be rich until I drop my CD, so right now I'm in between Anyways, I'll push real hard in my 24 hours To take the charge for the poor people to get more powers Bills on education and decent health care The homeless can't be treated like garbage They still need at least a place to stay and some welfare Until they could get themselves a job That's another thing, these companies shouldn't treat 'em like slobs Even though they're homeless, they should have an opportuntity to find jobs 'Cause I know that they want to get on their feet so they won't be slobs Big Ted will push for these jobs No propoganda, I'll push in my time to get it solved [Repeat Chorus] Verse Three: I'll be working hard with no breaks Maybe I'll have a quick pop tart and some frosted flakes But then I'll cut right to the chase To prove that I'm not lookin' for special treatment today Now that I have this day It's important that I deliver what I say I don't want to be considered a fake There are records that I'm trying to break It's not a presidential compaign I'll be at constant work, no play Maybe I might be considered a presidential great Even though I'll only be there for a single day Reality shows that I ain't for that lil' chase I have to work at a constant pace 'Till the last minute of the day I have to get down to somethin' that effects this country I want to get all up in this homeland security To make sure that we keep this land at purity We can't all go out like dummies America can't just stumble to these chemicals When it comes to protecting America I can't just settle y'all Or else everyone in the nation will be dead And it'll be a proclamation of victory for the terrorists Believe me America, you won't die on the day of the reign of Big Ted as president 'Cause when it comes to America, I'm 100% patriotic Terrorist bitches, I'm putting a stop to your **** If y'all f*** with America and President Big Ted It'll be a bust in your area when y'all are dead [Repeat Chorus 'Til End] Edited September 3, 2005 by bigted
bigted
I just typed up another verse to this in less than 10 minutes, I just needed to get my emotion out when I just had "Tell Me Why" on repeat: Verse Four: (Written In September 2005 due to Hurricane Katrina) Many people have lost labor from the hurricane So we ain't in no mood to celebrate labor day This is a message from mother nature that we need to change our ways We can't treat other like strangers, we don't need a president that closes his eyes like we're slaves I'm not biting my tongue, I lift my fist in a rage Like Chuck D just said “Hell No, We Ain't All Right” and like Will Smith asks, “Tell Me Why The F*** Can't Love Seem To Defeat Hate?” In this life we all got parts on the stage I wish that I was president just for this one day So things could get done the right way The gas prices are going up and I'm receiving much lower pay Like Run-Dmc I wanna lead the people to “Walk This Way” I see my mama start crying from we saw on TV today It feels like these are our relatives that're going through this state Of caious this seems more like a horror movie than a reality Living in this world of greed is like feeling like feeses That're going down a dumpster, I ain't letting them murder me “The Message” from Melle Mel is represented through me I see the broken glass everywhere, I wanna do something about it 'cause I care I'm not trying to be an a**hole I just want to make that clear It feels like we're all dying of cancer and we're all overcome with fear So this moment as I stand I wanna beat my drum loud so you could hear And for all the victims we lost I take a moment of silence and shed a tear I dedicate my fight for y'all, till I die I'm gonna do the best as I can as a citizen to make sure to help my peeps stand tall"

mfuqua23
I read it once earlier today. I just read it again. Man, that is some powerfully said stuff. For some reason, it made me think of Wyclef Jean's "If I Were President" song that he did on Chappelle's Show. He went crazy as the song went on. The 1st 3 verses are very much relevant still today. THis would be a great, rare longer song for sure.
