Frenetic
1. Be (Intro) - 9/10 With a drum-pattern signed J-dilla, sample & basline signed Kanye West this couldn't be bad. A overlook on hiphop right now with lyrics like this: Bush pushing lies, killers immortalized We got arms but won't reach for the skies Waiting for the Lord to rise I look into my daughter's eyes And realize that I'ma learn through her The Messiah, might even return through her 2. The Corners - 9/10 The beat is incredible. Drums are raw, piooo haaa. nod ya head to this. About the corners in the hoos where everythings go down. Outstanding lyrics: Streetlights & deepnights cats trying to eat right Riding no seat bikes with work to feed hypes So they can keep sweet Nikes they head & they feet right Desires of streetlife cars & weed types 3. Go feat Kanye West - 8/10 Really nice verses by Common and a interesting hook sung by Kanye but lyrics partly written by John Mayers Never lifts, beat is well done but in some way it feels more of a Kanye West beat than something ya should rap about sex. 4. Faithful feat John Legend & Bilal - 9,5/10 This is a wonderful song, this is hiphop, this is some skills, this is just wow. A giirlie storytelling song. Can a song with John Legend and Bilal be bad? She asked if they could spend the night together He thought, and said, "I'm tryin' to get my life together" Went home to his lady, these were his confessions "Baby you a blessin' and my best friend" 5. Testify - 9/10 It's a storytelling song about a person testifying in court about a crime. Includes a nice twist at the end. Will come with a mini-movie video. Beat is made for this song. Fits perfect. 6. Love is - 10/10 J-Dilla does it big with the beat and Common does his best rhymes since resurrection? Incredible song. One of 2005's top 10 songs and 2005 is a pretty good musicyear. Just read this: Yeah, you know what love is Even found it on the ground where the thugs live My man had to dig deep to find his Couldn't sleep 'cause on the real he had five kids Live nig's, real niggaz express and taste it At crap games, black dames and big faces Cases in court, fam' showin' love and support You and your baby's mom thought that love was a sport As men we were taught to hold it in That's why we don't know how 'til we're older men If love is a place I'ma go again At least now, now I know to go within At time it can take ya for a spin Heartbreak hotel then you're home again I've seen love make a nigga soul pretend Like a story that he don't want to end 7. Chi City 9,5/10 The banger, the most hiphop, the most raw and old school song on the album. KNOWLEDGE: Leave rappers with careers and they faith over It's a war goin' on, you can't fake bein' a soldier In the basement, listening to tapes of Ultra- Magnetic, to the fact the messiah is black I'll turn the TV down, we can take it higher than that I wonder if these whack niggaz realize they whack And they the reason that my people say they tired of rap 8. The Food (live) feat Kanye West 8/10 The beat is timeless, reminds you of the early days of Kanye with more uptempo and happy beats. About getting food for ya family. kanye drops a nice verse. Bad quality of the recording brings down the rating. 9. Real People 8,5/10 Beat doesn't sound near kanye west, horns and blues and jazz feeling. The lyrics style makes the song seem like repetitive and worse version of earliers songs on the album. It's a objectivly seen really good song, but i understand if people get bored. I wonder is the spirits of Bob Marley and Haile Selassie Watch me as the cops be tryna and pop and lock me They cocky, plus they mentality is Nazi The way they treat blacks I wanna snap like paparazzi 10. They Say feat John Legend & Kanye West - 9/10 About the haters and their position in hiphop. Kanye does a good verse and Commons last verse is incredible. 11. Its your world reprise feat Bilal and Pops - 9,5/10 He gotta have a song with his father slammin some spoken word at the end. Bilal's voice is like taking a piss after waiting to do in a couple of hours, it feels wonderful. J-Dilla does his third beat and it's yet again one of the best. Whole: 9,2/10. I give it 0,2 in better grade than WIll cause it's more solid without a bad or less good song. Will has two song that are 10, but losses in a couple of 6's and 7's. thezone
I'm not a huge Hip Hop fan anymore... but this album is one of my favs this year. The Food is in my opinion the best song on the album. I could live without the preach at the end of the CD.
