fan 4ever
Check this out y'all...what y'all think.. Reggae wild man Elephant Man, who just completed a new track with Will Smith and is gearing up to shoot a video for an "All Night" remix with Janet Jackson, says he loves to be loved. "My favorite mixtape DJ is Mister Cee because he plays a lot of Elephant Man, he keeps it down to earth. He doesn't forget where it's coming from and he's hardcore. Mister Cee, keep on doing what you're doing. Keep it jiggy, good to go!" WildWildWillennium
Thanx 4 this!! Elephant Man is a Jamaican reggae artist, similar 2 the sounds of Sean Paul. I don't mind his music, and I can imagine he and Will on a track cuz it'd probably sound alot like "I Gotta Go Home".
Admin Hero1 Posted July 6, 2004 Admin Report Share Posted July 6, 2004 The boisterous DJ Elephant Man (aka Energy God) was born O'Neil Bryan in 1974. Overly large ears as a child earned him the nickname "Dumbo Elephant" from his classmates in the Seaview Gardens area of Kingston, Jamaica. Shabba Ranks and Bounty Killer were Seaview residents at the time, and with King Jammy's studio not so far away, Elephant Man had an early exposure to dancehall culture. While singing at the gates of Ranks and Jammy's studios, Bounty Killer heard him and suggested forming a group with other Seaview teens. The group was originally called the Seaview Family, but after Bounty Killer had a massive hit with "Big Guns Scare Dem," the name changed to Scare Dem Crew. Scare Dem Crew only released one album but played multiple festivals around Jamaica, giving Elephant Man a chance to refine his on-stage persona. Dancehall night at 1998's Reggae Sumfest was a highlight, with Elephant Man climbing up a television camera crane and delivering his energetic rhymes high above the audience. The rest of Scare Dem started to question the DJ's ability to be a team player and Elephant Man left the group feeling disrespected. Solo, he was able to incorporate the hip-hop rhythms he loved on his full-length debut, Comin' 4 You, released by Greensleeves in 2000. The title cut from his second release, Log On, was a huge hit and the album's WTC attacks commentary attracted a wealth of attention from the press. A duet with one of Elephant Man's favorite rappers, Busta Rhymes, appeared on a remix of Lil Jon's "Get Low," and Mariah Carey recruited the DJ for an appearance on her Charmbracelet album. Atlantic Records took note of his growing popularity and released his major-label debut, Good 2 Go, in late 2003 while his "Pon di River, Pon di Bank" single was taking urban radio by storm. JumpinJack AJ
Very interesting. Will is just going worldwide on this album. He's got people from all around the country and world having input on the album. Elephant Man is alright. I like reggae, but mostly the kind that is heavily R-N-B or Hip-Hop influenced. Snow, Shaggy, Sean Paul, Supercat, Wayne Wonder, etc. Elephant Man isn't my fav...but witht the right track, i'd be happy. He did a track on Biz Markie's latest album. He's best known 4 his current hit "Jook Gal" w/ the remix featuring Twista. His voice is kinda like Ja-Rule's if it waz a little higher and not rapping...ha ha. May of next year is a bit of a wait, but i think that the timing sounds good. Think about it...lots of good things come out in that month (albums, TV shows, movies, etc)> Having an FP album out in late-spring/early summer would be great. Hopefully we'll hear something on the Sharktale soundtrack from him 2 hold us over. Also, hopefully there won't be any movies 2 steal attention from the album at all during that time. Over 2 years of recording 2 drop an album...sounds like a good album me...with 10 months 2 go, he still has time 2 do more music.
Jazzy Julie
thats cool ,i think elephant man is ok, but i like the idea of a reggae type song. lol when i first saw the post i just read Will Smith, shooting video and Janet Jackson, it nearly gave me heart failure 4 a bit then. It makes u think tho, is Will still recording his new album coz we keep getting new news about different ppl on his trax. Thanx 4 the newz. JumpinJack AJ
Don't look at it that way. Just cuz Born To Reign waz different dosen't mean it has be like Born To Reign. I respect Will's drive 2 try new things and i think this album will be on point whether it's "retro Hip-Hop" like he said b4...or some new sound. DevilsJim89
All I care is that Jazzy Jeff and whatever old-skool rappers are on the album. I know I'm being negative here, but he said its gonna be "old-skool hiphop"....why is he going for reggae? I know he wants to do a different sound.....(again)...but come on here. Who knows, maybe those traxs wont even make the album. :ditto: Edited July 6, 2004 by DevilsJim89
JumpinJack AJ
Maybe FP wanted 2 re-work the whole album. Maybe something about the retro-Hip-Hop thing wazn't working out. Pink started working on her last album as a death-metal type vibe and realized that it wazn't working....so she took it back 2 square one. However, maybe retro-Hip-Hop is still the vibe. Just cuz he's got a reggae artist on the album or a Korean producer dosen't mean it can't still be retro-Hip-Hop. It would also be silly 2 have every song sound really similar so i think experimenting is important. He dosen't wanna do the same thing over and over again. The only newz that i havn't liked about this new album is the 4 trax he did with Petey Pablo. Petey is trash and i can't imagin him not ruining whatever song he's on. Keep in mind that the source up there said May of next year may be the release date. That's plenty of time 2 work on new music and plenty of time 2 deside what he wants 2 do. sexywshgirl
Next May? I think its going to be sooner than that. It will be out before the end of this year. Thats what I think. :thumb:
