Turntable
How about some love for the ladies? I think Queen Latifah, Lauryn Hill, Monie Love, Salt-N-Pepa and MC Lyte rank among the best lyricists, I think Jean Grae is off to a good start even though she ain't well known yet, we need more of them who got class and skill instead of all these tramps like Trina and Lil' Kim who make trashy porno raps... Ehm.. Didn`t like Salt N Pepa stardet all that Sex Lyrics thing that Trina is doing now? Salt N Pepa are good MC`s but lyricaly on the same level is Kim. And ehm didn`t LL Cool J wrote most of Latifah`s Lyrics in the early days (which where her best)?

bigted
Bull**** Queen Latifah writes her lyrics, that's like those who say Will doesn't write his lyrics, she could rip mostly any mc in the game in a battle, male or female, she's one of the GOATs, she needs to stop doing movies and reclaim her throne as the queen of the rap game. LL Cool J wrote some rhymes for Run-DMC back in the days I believe on their 1st album, only a couple songs though, they wrote basically all their big hits... Biggie wrote Lil' Kim's lyrics when she came out and she still uses ghostwriters, no subject matter whatsoever, one of the worst ever, Will might as well do a song with 50 Cent if he's gonna do a track with her, Will probably wrote Lil' Kim's verse on "Da Butta", lol... Now am I the only one who considers KRS-ONE a great lyricist? His lyrics have stood the test of time, 13 albums deep and still going strong... Its JP
Ted I'm with ya KRS-one=Great MC, Nas also his lyrics are deep, meaningful and straight out dope, Rakim another dope lyriced MC, LL Cool J-GOAT but theres one person I dont think aybody mentioned now correct me if I'm wrong but Ice Cube in my opinion is one of the greatest rappers ever, Even if his rhymes were a little off on meaning the lyrics were all tight, with his gangsta attitude and insane lyrics you've gotta put him up there right? And not to start a fight here I know alot of people dont like him or respect him but Eminem has some pretty dope rhymes

bigted
What Eminem has done the last 5 years ain't mc'ing, he's an emptv rapper... Ice Cube's one of the most aggressive mcs ever but hopefully working with Lil' Jon don't turn him into a pop rap gimmick... Big Pun's aight, there's plenty I'd name before him, his lyrics are aight but his flow is the most impressive about him... btw, Lerkot what happened to your best MC poll you were doing? bigted
kanye's the best since pac?!!!!!!!  :jusmindyabizness: you must not listen to much hip-hop to say that, RhymeFest wrote his biggest hit, kanye ain't an mc either, he don't deserve to get any grammy nominations, just 'cause he's better than 50 doesn't mean he's the best of all time, big deal, i think everybody on this board is better than 50, a real mc don't complain about not winning awards... bigted
What about Wyclef? I like the messages in his lyrics even though it ain't always hip-hop, very versatile to say the least, a real artist in this industry of fakes... bigted
If Lil' Kim don't use ghostwriters, what about this then? This is a legit article, not what somebody made up in a forum, you can't find any articles saying that Queen Latifah had ghostwriters: http://www.sohh.com/articles/article.php/7022 I guess even those like LL, Jay-Z, Will, Kanye, and Run-Dmc might get help from time to time but basically everything Lil' Kim has done has been ghostwritten, for The Source to give her new album 5 mics like Nas' "Illmatic" is a complete disgrace to hip-hop...
