MissAshley
Posted on Wed, Dec. 21, 2005 Dan Gross | Will Smith's Mack attackCHARLIE Mack Alstonwas totally surprised by a 40th-birthday roast that his friend Will Smith threw for him Sunday at New York's P.M. Lounge. Southwest Philly-raised Mack, who turned 40 yesterday, is a longtime assistant of Overbrook's Smith, and also promotes celebrity charity events each year here in town. Mack told us yesterday that Smith had him believing they were meeting Donald Trump to develop a reality show. But when he turned up at the party, also attended by Smith's wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Taye Diggs, he knew what was up. Mack's girlfriend, Ria Ramos, and actor friend Boris Kodjoe also helped plan the affair. Smith told the crowd stories about Mack almost getting shot by the Secret Service after he "started twitching like crazy" when he got near Bill Clinton, and crying on Nelson Mandela's shoulder, reports the New York Post's Page Six. Mack met Mandela in April in South Africa, on a Smith-financed trip the pair took with kids from Overbrook High. Mack recently co-produced a film, "The ATL," a coming-of-age drama set in Atlanta that he says is due out around Easter. http://www.philly.com/mld/philly/entertainment/13454610.htm
