DevilsJim89
Okay so I'm listening to Nas's "Illmatic" and I'm jamming out to this song "halftime" on there. Then it hit me, it sounds so similar to JJFP's "Scream". Does anyone else notice this? "Scream" came out on "Code Red" in late '93 and "Halftime" came out on "Illmatic" in '94 but Wikipedia says the single "Halftime" for Nas came out in '93. hmm... Jonny 5
sound similar from the clip I listened to on amazon but I wouldn't say anyone is biting anyone else... there's loads of similar beats in hip hop
kbfprince
Yeah it sounds kinda the same to me as well. not the entire track, but just the basic beat and stuff. the intros sound a little similar.
Da Brakes
They really do sound the same don't they! Maybe they use the same sample? :hmm:

Vipa
Similar Hi-Hat and Bassline... might have used the same smaple..The hats on the original sound the same..
mfuqua23
Yeah, they sampled the same beat. The reason Nas's "Halftime" may have came out in '93 is becuz that track was on a Soundtrack called "Zebra" or something like that. Nas worked on that album since '92 and it came out in '94. bigted
"Illmatic" and "Code Red" are the 2 best produced albums in hip-hop history :yeah:
rcpbball30
I don't know if I would consider them the best produced of all-time, but there is no denying the production is great on both of them.
JumpinJack AJ
I have Nas's Illmatic...but i've never listened 2 it that much. I don't remember any trax that reminded me of "Scream." I do wish Nas's more current stuff waz on the level of Illmatic tho.'
Turntable
I could fall asleep listening to Illmatic. Well actauly that happens to me with most of Nas`s stuff... But Illmatic does his job best. I dont see waht should be a classic about this. Mobb Deep`s Infamous and Wutang`s 36 Czhambers are far better Albums and they came out about the same time. Lerkot
Nas is way to boring for me ;/
ash trey
Nas is lyrical excellence, ok you could find it boring if you listen to him for the basic sound of the tracks but his rhyme, flow, metaphor and poetic value are on point. Turntable
Yes, thats true. Nas is a poet with and excelent flow. But motsly I cant stand his Beats. They are just too.. boring for me... I liked still allot Songs like "Hate Me Now". You could say I like him with the more comercial Beats. I felt his newest Album and It Was Written the most. When I wanna hear Nas-al-like music,I mostly go for Moob Deep caus I feel theyr production more. JumpinJack AJ
I think there are 2 sides of Nas...which is why i could never really get in2 his stuff. There's the slightly introspective stuff which i like...then there's the flossing style...which is bland and cookie cutter 2 me. I just wish he waz more consistent. I like his 1st 2 albums alot. But there's alot of hit/miss type stuff on the other albulms.
