Turntable
Today I went to my favourite lil record store in Amsterdam. And they showed me this new Record, which they got today. I bought it, caus it soundet very intresting. I came home and put it in my stereo. And boom, I was sold. Great Record! It features Mc`s and Groups like Cold Crush Brothers, Spyder D, Nice & Nasty 3, Spoonie Gee, T Ski Valley, Brother D & Collective Effort and more. It just has this amazing old school tracks. Funky Beats, and fresh rhymes. The booklet is cool too, caus it tell intresting things about how hard it is to research about early Hip Hop History. And it also features a interview with Grandmaster Caz. It`s just an amazing Record. Must have for a Hip Hop Fan, if you dont got the tracks yet (And that chance isnt big) I found this on the net about it: Big Apple Rappin’ tells the story of the birth of rap/ hip-hop culture in New York City, featuring an amazing collection of the first rap records along with original flyer art, exclusive photos, interviews and more. Starting in the Bronx in the late 1970s rap grew out of a combination of Disco and Funk breaks alongside the Soundsystem culture of Jamaica (Dancehalls, DJs, soundclashes) first brought to the New York block party jams of the first hip-hop DJ, Kool Herc. This album brings together for the first time all the key ingredients that gave birth to hip-hop culture – independent record labels, flyer art, the first photos. The first record producers were both American and Jamaican-emigrees. Featuring interviews with artists, producers, one of the first-ever photographers to document the scene, Joe Conzo, flyer-designer Buddy Esquire – "Big Apple Rappin" is an incredible overview of the birth of Hip-Hop culture. The music on this album features both classic and unbelievably rare tracks from the first days of Rap most of which have never been re-issued and unheard outside of New York in the last 25 years! This is a double CD with slipcase and 64-page booklet. The vinyl comes in two super-loud double-vinyl album (vol 1 and 2) for all Djs. Tracklist. I marked my fav`s: 1.Spoonie Gee - Spoonin' Rap 2.Xanadu - Sure Shot 3.Brother D & The Collective Effort - How We Gonna Make The Black Nation Rise 4.General Echo - Rapping Dub Style 5.T Ski Valley - Catch The Beat 6.Universal 2 - Dancing Heart 7.Masterdon Committee - Funkbox Party 8.Cold Crush Brothers - Weekend CD 2: 9.Spyder D - Big Apple Rappin' 10.Mr Q - Dj Style 11.The Fly Guys - Fly Guys Rap 12.Solo Sound - Get The Party Jumpin' 13.The Jamaica Girls - Rock The Beat 14.Super 3 - Standing On The Top 15.TJ Swann, Peewee Mel & Barry B - Are You Ready 16.Nice And Nasty 3 - The Ultimate Rap You can check some here: http://www.souljazzrecords.co.uk/releases/?id=4973 Edited August 27, 2006 by Turntable

KevTastic
Thats a good compo, and as for gettin@ all the great tracks from that era, it wouldn't be easy. Not with different labels owning the songs and stuff. Could have cost a fortune for a compo that in all reality might not sell to well.
