Turntable
I allways was kinda twisted about Beyonce. I allways ennjoyed some tracks of her or Destinys Child. But I never realy was into them. I wasnt looking forward t this album ether. But then I saw that new interview on MTV, "All Eyez On Beyonce" and I was like.. "Yo, that girl actualy has something to tell". So I decided to pick up her new record that came out the other day. And I gotta say it turned out pretty nice, espacaly concidering the facts that it was all recorded in 2 weeks. Tracks like "Irreplacable", "Ring The Alarm", "Resentment" realy show some growth. And every track has good vocals and production. I dont feel about 2 Tracks, like "De Ja Vu" and "Kitty Kat". "Upgrade You" and "Check On It" (We all know that one) are Tracks I simply enjoy. But the absolute best track (For me) on this album is the hidden track, "Listen". After I heard that one, I lost all bad thoughts about Bee. I used to think she was a overrated singer when it comes to her voice.. But I was wrong. What I dont like about this album is that it's pretty short. But most of its is quality, so I think it's worth it. 1.DeJa Vu (Feat. Jay-Z) 2.Get Me Bodied 3.Suga Mama 4.Upgrade U (Feat. Jay-Z) 5.Ring The Alarm 6.Kitty Kat 7.Freakum Dress 8.Green Light 9.Irreplaceable 10.Resentment Bonus Track: 11. Check On It (Feat. Slim Thug & Bun B) (European Album Version) Includes Hidden Track's "Listen" and +"Get Me Bodied (Extended Version)" Edited September 8, 2006 by Turntable

TopDawg14
I heard the album on Wednesday through Yahoo's Music Engine and I think the album is not good at all. It just seems to me that if she's the "heir apparent" to the Queen of R&B throne then she needs to have some substance to her lyrics and I just didn't hear it. Maybe it's just me. Maybe good beats don't do it for me anymore. I need to hear some substance in the lyrics now. I'm not surprised about the first week sales. I really don't think it's about the music anymore. Beyonce is a name brand and the image is already out there. The hype is already out there. Deja Vu is a club banger but I didn't like Ring The Alarm and the other songs had no value in terms of meaning. It's the usual lyrics we've heard before. I'm not seeing lyrical growth from Beyonce and that's rather disappointing. Grade: D- Edited September 9, 2006 by TopDawg14
Turntable
I often dont realy listen that close to the lyrics, when it comes to R&b or Pop. I get more carryed away by the melodys or the voices.
Jin
This album is garbage...R&B had a huge comeback this year with Justin Timberlake and Nelly Furtado...compared to these albums b'day was bull****! Especially the song ring the alarm is one of the worst ever from beyonce...is she tryin to be Kelis now??? And she is overacting in her videos as she was on drugs or something! :nhawong:

Turntable
Justin was in N-Sync. Come on. When he went solo some kind of manager told him to do R&B (if you consider what he did on his album R&B) caus that way he'll sell enough records for the label. If you wanna talk about thsi year's R&B come back than say names like Donnel Jones, Lyfe Jennings and Javier. JumpinJack AJ
Beyonce's new album is good...above average...but nothing incredible. I like that she stretched herself 2 do something new. Her 1st album waz good...but it waz definitly missing an edge. This album at least has an attempt 2 add an edge 2 it. I think that since she did the whole album in 2 weeks is why it not incredible. The fact that she did try 2 do alot of uptempo songs is why some of the deeper soul is missing. But i like that she tossed some life instruements in2 the mix. I like Nelly Furtado and Justin Timberlake...but 2 say they are the face of R-N-B is rediculous. Nelly Furtado breaks alot of music rules and has a bit of everything in her music. Labeling her is silly. Justin Timberlake mixes R-N-B and Pop with a dash of other musical styles...labeling him R-N-B is just as silly. R-N-B is Brian McKnight, Luther Vandross, Marvin Gaye, Tamia, Goapele, etc. Beyonce did 22 trax in 2 weeks and rushed this album out. Her lyrics and vocals are amazing. The album's only weakness is that she stayed away from the slower soulful stuff (which she did on purpose) and that the album feels like a bunch of songs put 2gether...not a totally complete album. Screw those "I do R&B now caus thats what sells records right now" trashy artists. Nelly Furtado did R&B from the beginning and Justin solo stuff, too. I forgot about Lyfe Jennings and Christina Aguilera! Their albums are also fire!
Turntable
Nelly Furtado did Folk-Pop. Till this album she got now she never did a piece you actualy could call R&B.
JumpinJack AJ
Actually, a handful of trax off her 1st album are R-N-B.
