Da Brakes
Thought I'd share another track from the mixtape coming soon! Its calle 'Feel Like Quitting' and uses the 2 Pac instrumntal, 'Until The End of Time'. Here are the lyrics as well as the audio! Let me know what you think! Feel Like Quitting - Da Brakes <-- Audio 8 years in this game, so many tears when it rains I’ve been competing, countless meetings, people hearing my name They try and force-feed opinions, force me into listening “Aim for the sky” but we all see the pavilion A million to one be the chances of success I’m asking for the best chance to advance and pass the test Man it’s killing me softly, trust me boss they got me It’s not me that’s got these fools up in the hot seat It's you, the record buying public and they love it Thugs get love chatting bout guns and drugs Pricks get rich quick, so lets flip the script I gotta disrespect women, wear clothes that don’t fit? Please, I disagree in compromising my position My intuition is kicking in but still I feel like quitting Its getting ridiculous my career ain’t taken off yet Keeping it real? Man I’ve like this from the offset Can’t you see there insulting your intelligence? It’s irrelevant, they get arrested like development All you see is G’s on TV And your only wish in life is for that to be me Please, you need to wake up, take your ass to ministry The life you’re seeing there is getting raped by the industry They got no choices, let alone voices Acting up and rapping tough, these prats are too boisterous You wanna see an emcee with heart? ‘Talking To The People’ that tracks a good start Man I laugh at the charts; it’s getting hard to crack a smile Its been invaded by ‘Young’ this, ‘Lil’ thats and juveniles Played out gimmicks, no substance, your commodities Somebody please, is this rapping really music? Honestly? This is an art form, somewhat sophisticated You can take it back I don’t want it no more man it’s tainted :stickpoke:

DaAce
solid verse you made plenty of valid points but the irony is... no matter how hard you stress the message, it goes un-acted upon due to the inbalance of power... but our current attitudes and actions while in this powerless position will depict our future in this artform... but i like the track though, its a nice beat to compliment a stress filled verse
mfuqua23
I liked the feel of your vocals over the beat. We all see it, and know the truth. Don't know how many ways to say it, but we keep on. Your flow was genious Brakes, line by line. Are you puttin' snippets of "Business As Usual" on the mixtape? You said it yourself, there's tracks that just need to be heard. And maybe what Ace was saying is right in some senses, but I disagree. There are people who can be "converted" or see what's been said all along. It just took Da Brakes to say it, or whoever. It'll change, but you gotta love the fight put up in this struggle, no matter how strenuous it gets.

DaAce
And maybe what Ace was saying is right in some senses, but I disagree. There are people who can be "converted" or see what's been said all along. It just took Da Brakes to say it, or whoever. It'll change, but you gotta love the fight put up in this struggle, no matter how strenuous it gets. no matter how hard you stress the message, it goes un-acted upon due to the inbalance of power I agree that people can convert but thats not the point I was aiming that statement towards. I said it because no one man can shift the balance. It takes unity and togetherness to overthrow those in power. It goes un-acted upon because when someone such as a radio DJ hear's a track such as Brakes' track, they can simply trash it cause it has no club, thug or drug appeal. But if theres 50 tracks such as his and others, and people request it and demand it, then that radio DJ would have to think about his next action due to the buzz of that context of music. but i feel we agree but just looked at it differently

Da Brakes
Are you puttin' snippets of "Business As Usual" on the mixtape? You said it yourself, there's tracks that just need to be heard. Thanks Fuq. I hadn't thought about putting snippets of Business As Usual on the mixtape! Thats something I'll look at! I agree with both Ace and Fuq! I do think individual people can be converted when they hear tracks like these but to really make a difference there needs to be a movement! That day has got to be coming soon! Thanks everyone for checking it out!
